30 white hairs for a 32 year old

Like Tree2Likes

Just wondering if anyone else has lots of white hairs at 32?? I feel so bad, because the first years they came on slow, since 28 and this year alone, the last six months, I've tripled that amount. Feeling bummed, like scared that by age 38 I'll be 50/50. didn't expect it to come on this fast as my family has plenty of greys, but they didn't have many at my age. Hoping it can calm down and not continue on as this pattern of multiplying whites all over. Feels kind of crappy at 32 to have this issue.

I would say to embrace it. I'm 29 and just recently stopped coloring my hair and discoveredt i have a skunk tail on my right temple if you know what i mean. I have done some research on how to slow the grays down but nothing seems promising because there's not a lot of studies on it. Take your multivitamin and b complex and hope for the best.

I know, you'd think they'd discover something no. I would feel better if I would've grown up seeing my sister and mom like this at my age. But my sister at my age, never colored her hair and I never saw whites, she said she had some, but stayed with a few until 40, but I continue to see my number grow and grow. That's what depressed me. Cuz I feel like it's not hereditary, but rather my fault in stressing!

Do you color your hair? I henna mine and I'm also cg. If you're not cg you can try buying a gray touch up thingy. It looks like a mascara but for hair. The only thing is that it has silicones in it if you're cg. I got some from Avon but they have silicones and I'm staying away from that so my trick? I cut them the greys off lol. I got like 20 of them but I'm trying to stay away from hair dyes as much as i can so I'll cut them off for as long as i can along with my frizzies.

I felt bad too but i just try to style my hair in the direction of the grays so they stay hidden when they grow back. They seem too grow so quick too. Ughh

funny eh? I used to cut mine, but it got old doing that every few days, as I have lots in my temples too, and they would stick out and bug. Did you get all of yours at once, or have they been steadily increasing? A year ago from now, I had like 13, and now I have 29. Sucks. Don't know what happened. I wish I could go back to 13. I've tried those touch up thingies, they color everything BUT those hairs, they're messing and a pain in the butt. I've tried powders too, but they don't really stay.

and I don't get how you can style your hair back and hide them if they are in your temples. That's what is so hard for me. I like to pull my hair back from my face, and as soon as those hairs on the side get pulled back, there they are. I would'n't be SOOO soo sad, if I knew they were going to stop. But to only think I'll have more every year, that's what is depressing. Can't they take a breather??

Lol i wish. I only have them on my right temple and ONE gray hair in the middle ofy head. I get tired of cutting them too but i just thinl back to the days when i used to color my hair and this is a lot less work. Unfortunately the henna indigo just makes them a weird color that doesn't go with the rest. Cutting them off works for me right now but in a couple of years I'm going to be reposting this same post lol..I'm sorry i couldn't be of any help. Have you considered using a hair dye close to your hair color in those areas only? I think that's what i will be doing when the times comes.

We'll have to keep in touch to see how our "graying" pattern continues. So you have like 20 in the right temple? I have my equally set on both temples, some in back and sparsely in other areas, I used to just cut when I had like 5-6 I can't imagine cutting 20, like you said they come back so fast. how often do you cut if I may ask?? Yes, I henna in those areas, actually, but even then the roots come so fast. and I have some real close to my hair line. Hopefully you won't have 30 when you're my age, maybe you'll stick with the ones you have.

Definitely we should keep in touch. If you think about it 20 hairs is not really that much since we have like a hundred thousand lol. They're in the same area but not exactly next to each other so there's no baldspot left. I grab one of those little scissors that come in the manicure sets and cut them one by one. Since they're already short when i pull my hair in the opposite direction the grays just stick out so its pretty easy. I do this about once every 2 weeks and it takes me like 15 minutrs. When it's time to cut they're right there in my face waving at me when i look in the mirror lol. And the one in the middle of my head is new so they're definitely coming multiplied.

I actually don't think it's that much work. It's just annoying when they come back.

I know, please keep in touch. At least you should feel better, knowing someone else has more than you!! yeah I was too crazy compulsive with cutting, I was doing it like every two days. I don't know how you keep them hidden for two weeks, but it's no worse than me doing henna on roots every two weeks. I was doing it once a week and I thought, it shouldn't be this hard, everyone else does color once a month and you never see their white hairs, so mine shouldn't be visible. they are to me in the mirror, since I know where they are, I find them within three days after coloring. My only issue is when I pull hair back in a ponytail, since I have medium volume hair, I feel like I could use 100,000 more hairs to help keep these ones covered. And getting just one new one isn't multiplying. Talk about me getting 16 new ones in just six months. That's what has me freaked out. The first years I only would get like five new ones a year. HOpefully this doesn't become my new rhythm, I've been taking more vitamin B. Two b-50's a day baby!! Do keep in touch and congrats on the cutting. You're dedicated like me. I have to look for them too, since i only henna those hairs. We're almost hair twins, white hair twins I mean!

I don't really have a lot of hair styles to rely on. I usually just put my hair to that side if I'm wearing it up. When i do this i can't do it tight because i get headaches if i use scrunchies. I only wear clips. If i wear it down i just do one of those little clips on top of the head to keep my bangs back and make sure i pull hairs from the middle to come down and cover them. When i straighten my hair i just do it to that side. Nobody has noticed not even my mom, until i tell them i have grays. I don't have the energy to henna so often. I do it about once every month and a half so cutting them is much easier. I still haven't tried hennaing just the roots but i haven't seen henna and indigo covering well when the grays were a little long so i haven't bothered. How long have you been doing henna? I've been doing it since Oct. Can you post pictures? I'll send one i took today.

You're beautiful. I'll post, although you won't see the henna. Thanks for all the tips on styling. I thought I was the only one. I too, leave the hair on both sides temple -wise down. when I pull back ponytails, I NEVER pull hair back starting right from my temples, I leave those little shorter hairs hanging down and hope they don't get sweaty or oiling and make little parts which will allow the whites to show. They do at times, at angles. But if you part your hair on that side (obviously I can't do that since I have on both sides) but even so when you pull your hair back, obviously all that hair goes back and there is just nothing to cover those temple areas really, that's the hard part. I don't use scrunchies or elastics, they hurt my head and my hair doesn't like to be parted in any direction other than it's own preferred way. So that limits how I do ponies too. I use octopus clips almost always and I keep them loose so there are no parts in those temple areas. Yeah when it's all worn down no issue. I use my side bang to help cover those ones, but then the other side gets exposed. Eventually I'll have to do a middle bang, with half on each side to help cover those temples. I've seen women with long middle bangs that curl off to the sides, and that helps because then those bangs never go back in the ponytails. It's when my side/temple hair gets long that it becomes a problem because all that hair wants to go back in the ponytail instead of hanging down to cover those areas. No matter what hair style I try, see how I keep those side areas coming down and never going back, that's how I'm forced now to keep those areas to feel a bit confident about all these whites.

Aww thank you and i see what you're saying with the bangs. Your hair looks very thick and healthy and you're lucky that bangs look good on you. I just recenly got mine cut and the stylist first did them to the front but they looked hideous on me so i had to get them fixed. Do you use heat at all?

Sent from my SPH-D710 using CurlTalk App
thanks also, it is fairly thick but because it's not dense, when I pull it back, you can see parts where it opens, because the curls all go together, leaving parts for those white roots to shine through. I only use heat on my bangs and probably 2-3 times a week. Although if you really want to look good daily, you need to heat those bangs up. But I have days when I'm home all day, so they flip;curl and look ridiculous some days. But yeah, what are we youngeons to do?? I hate it because in my church choir, I see no one else my age with these white roots and I always feel like I"m the only one. Do you have older sisters or did your mom get white hairs young?? I think I'm ahead of my sister when she was my age. The henna goes good in my hair. I tried hendigo, never worked, I never got past a golden blonde color. I just do straight henna for two hours, and it turns a nice copper red. I have red highlights anyway in my hair so it blends in well. I also have noticed blonde hairs lately in my hair and I'm hoping they're not the next ones to go white. Never knew I had blonde hairs but my husband said he had noticed some years ago!

I only have one sister and she's three years younger than me and no grays yet. At her age i didn't have them either (not that i noticed anyway) my mom got them when she was about my age and now that she's almost 50 they're mainly concentrated on the bang area. Did you notice after doing henna that your curls loosened? It did for me kind of i think. A friend of mine with really curly hair explained to me how to cut my hair myself in between salon visits for the curls to spring more and when i started doing it it worked. This was all after the henna and co washing. My hair was curlier but still dry and frizzy so i started doing the henna and was straightening my hair once a week, never wore it curly because it looked so dry. Now that i cowash and don't straighten as often it looks less curly but healthier. I also got a cut at the salon in January so i don't know if it was the cut or the henna that messed up the curl pattern a little bit. Have you experienced this? Also i think the high light thing is a great idea. I might consider that too when i start getting more grays lol. My advice is to just wear hairstyles that flatter you and if that includes not pulling your hair back then why not. I don't like putting my hair in a pony tail because it doesn't look good on me since i have a flat head and too little hair when it's curly. It only looks good when it's straight and I'm avoiding heat as much as i can mainly because it's too much work to straighten my hair and it doesn't really last that long. So yeah i just do the hair styles that look better on me and that don't take long (most of the time)

I've been going gray since I was a teenager. If I didn't dye my hair it'd be about 50/50 and i'm 27.
So as someone who's had gray hair for about 12 years already, it isn't the end of the world if someone sees that you have A gray hair, or 30 of them (did you actually count??)
Even when I think my gray has grown out a LOT, people don't even notice. Or if they do, it isn't like they're whispering behind your back like "omg she has gray hair what a freak"
its probably the lowest priority for someone else you can get to. If you don't necessarily care what others think and its just what you think, I dont think 30 gray hairs is something to lose sleep over or even think about much. There's enough to stress out about in life! You say you think its your fault you have them for stressing, but you know the exact number of gray hairs you've had over the years. That's a little counter productive. I can't even COUNT mine! If you don't want them, you need to dye or henna them. Otherwise, embrace it and enjoy that you can hit your 30s with 30 gray hairs. I haven't had only 30 gray hairs since I was 16.

Yeah that's true. We need to embrace it. In my case I've had people including a nurse at the hospital after i gave birth and go ooohhh you have a gray 'pluckkk' she just pulled it out lol. Some people don't care and some people make it the center of attention so i guess when we first start getting them its a little hard to get used to but with time I'm sure it will get easier. i don't really care much about what other ppl might think. I've been coloring my hair since i was 17 just because i love colors and a change of look but last summer i said no more and a couple of months later i noticed all the grays and surprise surprise lol.
