New to CG...NEED SUGGESTIONS!

I'm new to the CG method (which I LOVE), and I have a few questions to help me kick-start my curls!

1. After cowashing, should ACV be used throughout the hair or just on the ends?

2. For 2C, fine, low-porosity hair that tends to get weighed down easily...Would you recommend a no-poo, low-poo, or cowashing? I definitely like the concept behind cowashing since my hair frizzes and dries out easily, but I also tend to get oily and am worried about this eventually happening if I strictly cowash...although switching to a better conditioner may also improve this issue. I want to stay away from shampoo as much as possible!

3. I need something to help me with VOLUME...but only on top! My hair is very full everywhere except for the roots, where it's pulled down and flattened.

Thank you so much!

Hi there!
I am fairly new too and still experimenting :-)
I only do an ACV rinse every 2 weeks right now and when I do I rinse my whole hair.
As to the loo poo , no poo and oily scalp , that is something I learned trough trial and error. A week after I started co washing my crown was very oily but it went away as my scalp became used to the routine.
If you search root volume here you will find many suggestions from clipping and pixi diffusing to applying products upside down.
It takes some time to read trough the info here but it is well worth it!

I've never used ACV. I haven't found it necessary, but I would think if you're going to do it that you would do it throughout all of your hair, not just the ends.

You might want to start off just using a low poo until your scalp adjusts to not using sulfates anymore. Once your scalp adjusts, you should not be as oily as you have been in the past. From there, you could probably get away with cowashing most of the time and just low pooing to clarify once a week. That's the point I'm at now. Cowash on Tuesdays and low poo on Fridays, then if I happen to wash my hair at any other time during the week, I just cowash.

For volume on top, I've found 3 things to be helpful: Diffusing upside down (if you prefer to air dry you could always just diffuse the root area and let the length air dry), clipping, and using a volumizing mousse just at the roots.

Jakrussel3, how would I know if I need to low poo? After my initial oily and itchy phase my scalp is fine. I do the ACV rinse because it really enhances my curls but I really have not had any build up, yet.
Thanks for any insight.

Thank you so much for the advice!

I will give my hair a couple of weeks to adjust to the co-washing and decide on whether I still need a low-poo after the initial oily phase starts to subside. I'm glad to hear that it's to be expected! As for the ACV... I already rinse with cold water, so I think I will try using it less often...maybe once a week or so.

As far as the volume issue goes: I shower at night, so I think I will try a volumizing mousse on my wet roots after I shower. I've also been experimenting with overnight plopping so maybe that will start to help too.

ALSO: I was not familiar with clipping, but I just looked into it. I think I will try this as well!
