Have days where you wish you could have different hair? I'd been pretty happy with my hair the last couple of weeks, but today it looked awful! I probably need to clarify my hair or something??? I wish I could just get pretty beachy waves or nice curls, but instead I get in between type waves.

Okay end of vent. Just was not a good hair day.

My hair loves protein, plopping, and diffusing! Trying to find a way to style and air dry.
Hey Akgirl i added lemon juice to my conditioner the last two times i co washed and my hair looks exactly how i want it to look. Before it would get weighted down pretty quickly where i just wanted to co wash everyday but tried hard not too. These past 2 cowashes my hair has lasted more than two days looking nice and bouncy and shiny. i think the lemon juice helps with closing the cuticle and it might rid the hair of junk on the outside that might be what makes it shiny. I follow with leave in and hair gel. Its awesome for waves

Oh yes! I wish I had the nice curly hair that's more predictable than my weak waves.

Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: CJ Beauticurls, CJ A&OO, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: Mop C, KCCC, SCE FSG
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

You are definitely not alone! Some days I'm in love with my hair, and other days it frustrates me to no end. My waves seem to just sort of give up every so often too. I've found that clarifying with the BS/ACV combo really helps me out when this happens.

Honeybebe, how much lemon juice did you add to your conditioner? I would really like to try this out!

I'm right there with you. My hair has been super frustrating this week. Over the weekend, I went to visit my boyfriend's parents in a different city. I don't know WHAT happened, but I had three phenomenal hair days. I'm talking decent root curl, which never happens, and my curls were so strong they didn't go flat when I slept on them. They just felt stronger and bouncier to the touch, not as weak as they usually are, if that makes sense.

Long story short, I return to my own city, and I'm back to mediocre waves. I have no idea why. I don't think I have hard water (I'm on city water), and I don't think the dews are all that different. Basically, I'm sad because I can't figure out what the difference was. I used exactly the same routine in both places. It's not that my hair looks bad right now, it just looked so much better this weekend!!

I know that feeling very well! My hair can be 2c/3a depending on condition, weather etc, at the moment the cold winter is sucking all the life out of it leaving me with flat roots and frizzy weird waves. At least straight haired people know what their hair is going to do.
Thanks! I definitely wish my hair was curlier. It's like it curls so nice in some spots and then is practically straight in others! I really don't like to use to many products, as I feel it looks unnatural, but then I guess I hate the way my natural hair looks! Lol

This is before i started using lemon juice.

And this is after 2 lemon juice treatments after cowashing.

It might be that the lemon juice clarifies the hair but i had used Giovanni clarifying shampoo before and my hair didn't look like this. To me it looks a little bit curlier.

Honeybee I tried the lemon juice in my condish and I really like it. My hair is so shiny and I have a little bit of curl near the roots. Yay! Thanks for sharing this.

Maybe they had silk pillow cases? Those are just my speculations...

The only other thing I can think of is their shower pressure was so much better than mine. I sometimes have a hard time rinsing out my dense hair, so maybe that played a part? Who knows, it's a mystery!

My hair is horrible now. The dew point has been in 20's and that's very low ( for south east US -ga). I hope that's all it is because I'm cutting this off if this continues. I am sitting in a shower cap w a dt on as I type. The lemon juice is calling my name, but I color and highlight. Do you think it will lighten or fade color treated hair? I used to use it in the summer years ago and went from brunet to red fast (but totally dried out my hair).
2b/2c ( weather permitting - 3a), fine texture but lots of it, colored and highlights, BSL.
Experimenting w CG since Oct 2012

Current rotation:
cowash= TN
AG Gel Mousse, LA Gel,
DT = Coconut oil (love)
