2c: Using CJ, but considering making the jump to DC?

Hey everyone!

Like a lot of you, I spent my adolescent life bemoaning my "frizzy" hair. I kept it as short as possible so that I could encourage it to be straight. About a year and a half ago, after not touching my hair brush all day (quite a feat for someone who was obsessed with brushing my hair), I got home and noticed little frizzy spirals in the back. I was astounded: maybe my frizz was just badly managed curls! Could it be??

A year later, and I am pleased to announce that I've finally got real waves! My hair is 2c/3a outer, 2a-ish underlayer (I'll know more the longer it grows - I thought it was straight underneath, but it's starting more and more to pick up some wave). My hair is very fine, and accumulates build-up easily: I've tossed all my products that contain -fates and -cones, stopped shampooing my hair, and started scrunching and pineappling. My hair's never been in better shape, and I saw so much growth in the last year! Now, it's only about 3" away from BSL - the longest my hair's been in more than four years.

Now, I exclusively use CJ products - and have ever since I transitioned away from fates and cones. I cowash 2-3xs a week with Daily Fix, then follow with Beauticurls Strengthening conditioner (I supplement coconut oil on my ends, since they are definitely dry without). I use CJ Gentle Cleansing Shampoo with Repair Me! conditioner 1x a week. For styling, I use CJCiaB - just a quarter-sized amount, as more makes my hair limp and lifeless - and Curl Keeper. I scrunch a whole lot and go!

This has worked pretty well, but I really feel that I could get more curl in my hair. The back, especially, has a thin layer of spirals. My hair seems to love, love, love protein - styling after using the Repair Me is an absolute dream, especially if I leave it in for for a while. I've got to use some kind of cleanser once a week, but it's so shiny after cowashing! I don't get that kind of shine after using low-poo.

I've thought long and hard about switching from CJ to DevaCurl, and I just don't know. Because my hair is so fine, I have to use the lightest of products, or my hair is weighted down and looks dirty. Even using too much CiaB can make this happen, and I've always been told "more product is better!" I currently don't use any kind of 2nd day refresher, since most of the ones I've found are too heavy (I bought CJCCCC, and tried it with disastrous results - even mixing it with water before applying is no good - it's simply too heavy).

DC seems to have all the products to suit my needs - but the question is, will they actually work? If so, what would you all recommend for my hair? I would like to get as much curl as possible out of it - and I really think more than what I'm currently getting is possible! The way it spirals in the back and some on the sides, I think I could get 3a curls if I do everything right.

At any rate, what do you all think of DC products? From what you know, do you think they'll work for my hair? Are there any recommendations you can make for cleansing/styling?

Thank you all so much!
DC did not work well for me. I experienced a huge amount of breakage. I use CJ and JessiCurl now. That said, there are a lot of people who use DC, love it, and it works great for them. If the ingredients look good for you it might be worth a try.
remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!!
My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.
I agree, it's hard to say whether will or won't like it. My hair likes the no poo/low poo and one c okay, but none of their stylers agree with my hair. But, you could try their trial/travel kit to see how it works for you without shelling out a lot of money. They are available on the ground if you have an Ulta near you, and I believe it's around $30 for travel sizes of the no poo, one c, angel and set it free.
2c/3a, botticelli/wavy/'swavy (huh?)
fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

I am doing reverse of you, going from dc to cj! I like the mouse from dc best as a styler. It gves me volume, but really didn't enhance curls. I am not having luck with dc enhancing curls as much as the cj samples I ask trying. Winder if I can use a curl enhancer under the mousse? I just may tworksry that, best of both worlds that way, curl and volume.
2c, some straight pieces on canopy, curlier underneath. Fine, thin, unsure on porosity - sent in my sample and waiting to hear back. Products - have a bunch I am trying out, CJ, Deva, SM Yucca, TJ.
That looks terrible, I should not be allowed to type on my phone

I went from DC to CJ. DC didn't work for me at all...lots of build up, flash drying, and sensitive scalp from it. CJ on the other hand is moisture, curl enhancing, and softness for me. That's not to say it wouldn't work for you, because everyone is different, but I think a lot of people here end up abandoning it after awhile for those reasons.

Around here, Deva is a love/hate line. Most of us start out with it, think we like it and then move on to things we like a lot better. It took me a while to discover that my hair really doesn't like chemicals, especially polyquats (especially 4, 7 and 10.) So, now I avoid all products that contain them. Daily Fix isn't enough to remove them, for me.

I never used products before I started lurking on nc.com. Started out as winter wavy/summer 3a. Now my hair looks like my signature picture all year around.

Many of us rotate products. My hair satiated on product even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom let myself use any one product more then once every five days.
