2a/2b Newbie

Hi all! I'm new to all of this. I've been flat ironing my hair since I was 13 when I had 2b hair (I think) and am now 19 and stuck in the middle of 2a/2b. I think all of the flat ironing has ruined a lot of my curl although the wave is still definitely there. I only think i'm a 2b as I have thin hair but lots of it and am very prone to frizz and fuzz after washing.

My hair is in relatively good condition since I had it all chopped off a couple of months ago (from half way down my waist to my shoulders). I'm looking to try and get my hair back to what it was before i ruined it with all the flat ironing, can anyone recommend any products or techniques? The photos with brown hair are with my hair just washed with lloreal elvive total care shampoo & conditioner, I'm one of those people who have tried every drug store shampoo/conditioner and am never happy! There's also a photo of how my hair used to look prior to flat ironing (sandy blonde)

Thanks

Your wave is how mine looked when I began CG a year ago. You might really surprise yourself in about 6 months of good care, lots of moisture, and no silicones. If you haven't already, get ahold of a copy of the Curly Girl Handbook and pay attention to the wavy section for how to wash and condition without weighing down your hair. When I went CG, I was pretty overwhelmed with all the product options, so I just started using DevaCare (version of DevaCurl) low poo and DevaCare One Condition because I knew they were "safe." I also used DevaCurl's ArcAngel gel until I saw there was wheat in it (I can't use wheat products). Anyway, those were the only products I used for about 3 months while I read about what products everyone was using and why and what kind of hair they had. During those 3 months, I saw my hair transforming. It was pretty awesome. Also, if you like a long loose wave, let it airdry or look into plopping. If you want tighter curl, buy a diffuser and diffuse your hair mostly dry on the days you wash. Pineapple your hair at night with a scrunchy or a no-tangle ponytail holder. I waited a few months before pineappling the first time. The difference in my 2nd day hair was amazing. No tangles and plenty of non-squashed wave.

Thanks so much for your reply! I know what you mean, I am so overwhelmed now with all the different products people on here use and I just have no idea where to start. I will check out the DevaCare, thanks for the advice. I think I will start pineappling this week, I've read a lot on here that it makes a really huge difference. For after wash products, what do you use? mousse, gel, serum etc.? I'm not sure what I should be using to keep my hair frizz free without weighing it down.
For my hair, it depends on the dew points. It's medium-fine in texture so it doesn't get weighed down as easily as baby fine hair, but it certainly can't handle thick heavy products.

If the average dew points are below 30, I use Regis Olive Oil leave in conditioner (found at walmart salons), AG: Recoil (Ulta), and Aussie Instant Freeze gel (drugstores) in that order. In the spring and summer when dews are higher, I use Curl Keeper (online), AG: Recoil, and As I Am Curling Jelly (Sallys). My hair loves Re:Coil. It's a cream with mag sulfate in it that my hair loves. I think it's the difference between 2a and 2b for me.

I've also started applying Aquage uplifting foam mousse to my roots near my part and my bangs for extra lift. I apply it last and then lift my roots with my fingers and diffuse just a bit to set it, then diffuse the rest of my hair. Works really well.
