Think I found something that works for me!

Hi Girls and Guys,

I just went CG a week ago, but I have been reading endless posts on this forum.

I was so desperate the last couple of days because my hair was just getting so dry... so I went out and grabbed a few samples here and there. Among them, Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter from The Body Shop. There are a ton of bad reviews for this out there, but I think I might like this stuff... by accident!

I put it into my towel-dried hair and after a while I just went "what the heck? I smell like my aunts and my hair is getting poofy and has no curl..." I looked in the mirror for a while longer and then put my head in the sink and rinsed this stuff out. (I have chin-length 2a/b hair) BUT it was so soft as I was rinsing it out, so I thought I'd leave some in. Also, because I was so desperate for curls I grabbed my Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Gel Spray. I've had this gel for years and years now and somehow I always use it as a last resort when I try out a bunch of old products to see if anything works. It's still half-full and probably more than 5 years old... Yikes!

Bottom line: my hair looks great for the first time in a long time! It has some nice curls, no frizz, doesn't look oily or greasy, and feels soft.
I'm not sure if this is thanks to the Moisture Butter or just the gel doing its magic?! If it's the moisture butter, then I will have to go out and buy the actual thing, because as of now I only have half of the sample left. I think I will try the same thing again, without the moisture butter and see if the gel can give me these great curls by itself.

I was so excited I thought I should share this! I might update tomorrow or in a few days to see if this holds up!
I hope it continues to work for you! Consistency - the holy grail.
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
Hi again, yesterday I went home to visit my family and my sister happened to have the Yes to Carrots Leave-in Conditioner. Has anyone tried this? I put a bit of it in a little container and used it in the shower last night. Frankly, I found it to be almost as thick as the Rainforest Butter and it did pretty much the same thing, even better (because I could leave it in). The smell was a bit overpowering, especially when I put it into dry hair. However, it faded pretty quickly in wet hair and I'm starting to like it a bit. When I put it in wet hair last night it felt sooooooo good. It made my hair so super soft and I knew I loved the stuff right away. This morning I put in a bit of the Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Gel (which I find too strong in hold sometimes, but it works well combined with super soft hair )

So I changed things up a bit with the same concept in mind. I really like it, it definitely accentuates my waves. The only thing I don't like is that I don't have too much curl. Hopefully that will come with time.

Did anyone try Yes to Carrots Leave-in? What did you think? I think it's almost equivalent to a leave-in hair butter! And it does smell very good. Usually I'm not a big fan of strong smells, but I think I could live with this.
I was thinking of grabbing a sample but what do you think so far?
Medium thickness
Low Porosity
2b/2c dark blonde naturally
BSL going for BWL

This leave-in says to use it 2-3 times a week or more if you heat-style your hair. So far I have used only a little bit twice and I thought my hair might be getting too much moisture. I'm still experimenting with it, but I will definitely keep using it. It'll last me a looong time.

Where do you live? I bought Yes to Carrots at Shoppers in Canada but haven't seen it anywhere else where you could get a sample.
