Light wave spray?
I am looking for a product that leaves hair soft(or at least mostly soft) has protein or wave enhancing properties. I have Loreal Everstyle beach spray and used only that today and so far it works well, but I'm wondering if it might not hold all day? I'd rather not use gels, I'm never really happy with them, because while they enhance my wave, it's almost too much and I feel like it's not MY wave if that makes sense. Any suggestions? I've looked a bit and saw beach bomb ( which intrigues me) and a spray poof that looks to have protein, sea salt etc.
Here's the poof. I saw someone on the general thread link to it. Anyone tried it? My only concern is I'm in Alaska and the dews here are really low and it has humectants. I may have to get it anyways!

Take a look at Rev Up! Volumist from CHS. I am looking for the same type of thing for my hair and I ordered it but haven't tried it yet. It's got similar ingredients (salt, protein) but no glycerine so the low dews shouldn't matter. I am taking a breather from salt/magnesium for a few washes as I've been hitting the AG:recoil hard in the low dews here and my hair is a bit dry. I plan on trying the Rev up mist in the next few days though.

Ooh I like that too. Do you know of anywhere on ground that sells it? I'm learning I really like my hair with that bigger beach look. Lol. This looks like it'd give me that. : )

I'm not sure, but I think CHS products are available only online. I've never seen them anywhere and I have loitered in the hair care aisles of CVS, Target, Walmart, and Sally's a lot lately hunting for all things CG. I got mine through curlmart because shipping was a better deal than buying at CHS. Price was the same, though. I wonder if Amazon has it? I didn't think to check there.

if you go here: Curly Hair, Curly Hair Products - Tips for Curly Hair Care | Curly Hair Solutions™ you can search for any retail locations that may carry chs products. not sure where you're located, but i checked in the boston area (where i'm from) and there was only one location in watertown that carried their products. i'm guessing you'll have better luck finding them in urban areas.

Do ya'll know if there is any salt based spray for waves/curls thats more affordable? I'm interested in trying it because I live on the coast and every time I go to the beach my hair gets curlier, nappier but curlier lol. I just wonder if a more controlled salt based hair spray would have a similar effect. Without the nappy-ness.

You should try loreal everstyle beach spray. My hair is the same way and loved the beach. I always get beautiful waves. Yesterday it's the only thing I used and had nice waves. It doesn't have much hold so you may want to use gel over it. I kinda like the loose beach wave look without gel tho! I got mine at Walgreens.

I make my own sea salt beach wave spray. Water, sea salt or epsom salt, oil of choice and spray bottle. That's all it takes.

So I finally got around to trying the CHS Rev up! Poo and volume spray. Washed with the poo. It smells nice and only takes a small amount but made my hair really tangled. I used a fair amount of KCKT while in the shower and combed out the tangles, then rinsed most of it out. I didn't comb again. Just scrunched after spraying a bit of the volume spray in with a microfiber towel. I didn't feel like putting anything else in my hair so I plopped for 15 min or so then diffused with my hair upside down. Results: big hair, tons of volume. I was surprised to see my waves were fairly well defined (just a bit softer and slightly fuzzy) even though I didn't use any gel or mousse. I need to experiment with this stuff a bit more. It may be too drying to use regularly, although my hair feels very silky and soft right now. Next time I will use a heavier RO. This did deliver on the beachy wave promise. I grew up on a beach and this gave me true beach hair ( minus the sand). And the dewpoint was on the low side (30 ish ) today here.

Thanks weathercurl! I've read the shampoo can cause some hair to tangle. My hair tangles very easily, so I'm not sure about the shampoo. Can you get the rev up spray separate? Let me know how it works as a refresher! I'm really interested! I also read some complain of a hairspray type feel; but you said your hair felt silky, which is what I'm going for. Thank you do much for your review!! I really want to try it now! : )

You may have talked me into buying the rev up kit if it really gives you that much volume!

I tested the spray by accident today. Was very aggravated that I overslept and had no time to wash hair. Had to make day 3 hair work so decided to use the volume mist. I lightly combed my hair out so the waves were more or less pulled out although I still had pretty good volume. I sprayed the mist on and got my hair just barely dampened and kind of scrunched. It felt slightly sticky like hairspray. My hair takes a few minutes for the wave to develop so I piled it on top of my head and put a shower cap on while I got ready. Right before I headed out (about 20 min) I pulled off the cap and my hair was not wavy - it was curly. And frizzy, but not horribly so. It felt like it was coated with hairspray and was weirdly stiff, again, not horribly so. I am so on the fence about the spray. Friends at work thought it looked good and it had a lot of curl but I hate the dry, stiff feeling. I will keep experimenting with this stuff. It certainly has potential and might be good mixed with a leave in rather than on its own. I would really like to know what ya'll think if you try this. I need help with this stuff!

Hi AKgirl,
I just posted in another thread in the 2 forum about AG beach bomb. I tried it once so far and it definitely gave me the beach look. I wrote a bit more about it in the other tread, but I'll still give you a quick run-down. If you are looking for something that makes your hair wavy and gives you the look and feel of "beach hair", then this is it. It has one cone, so if that doesn't bother you, go for it.
I'm not sure how this product would help with dews... all I know is that after trying it once, it seemed to do exactly what it promised. It also made my hair soft, but the next morning I found my hair felt a bit dry and nappy, so I re-wetted and it went back to being soft.

Hi Monkey - I saw your review in the other thread. Thanks! I think the beach bomb must be similar to the Rev up Volumist. I retried the Volumist yesterday on soaking wet hair and scrunched in some mousse after. I had the best hair ever- lots of volume AND spirals and curls. Got so many compliments yesterday. I don't think it's got any 'cones. But having to buy it online bugs me. I may try the beach bomb when I run out of this stuff. But it'll be awhile. It didn't take much and I will only use it occasionally.

Have you checked out Biosilk Beach Texture Spray to see if it would be something you'd like? I have one for sale or swap on the swap boards if you're interested. It has way too much protein in it for me.

Organix also has a sea salt spray in the Moroccan line of theirs. I purchased mine at Wal-Mart for around $5.

Seriously... make your own. Epsom salts are the same thing as magnesium sulfate which is the main ingredient in like 95% of "beach sprays." You can get a giant box of them at Walmart for $2.00. It'll last you forever. Start with a very small amount in a spray bottle or mister full of water. It's customizable too. Get a bottle of CNPF from Sally's for $3.00 and then you can make your own salt spray with protein. You could also add a squirt of light conditioner to counteract dryness. Way, way cheaper than going through all the commercial salt sprays which, give or take a couple of ingredients, are the same thing.
:-)
