New to CG method, type 2b/c hair, help?
So, I've been abandoning my hair. I used to straighten my hair every week and lately I've just been washing, moussing and leaving. My hair has been awful. It is very rare that my curls look define and nice because I get so much frizz. I'm not positive, but I believe I have a 2b/c hair because for the most part I have fairly loose wavey curls, but when I scrunch my hair, my waves get defined and curly and my hair looks pretty big, which I enjoy.
However, lately my hair is always frizzy and feels coarse. I wanna start doing the CG method so that I don't have to straighten my hair anymore and so my curls could look nice. But, I have no idea which products to get. I've tried sorta incorportating some of the CG method, by co-washing, then putting in a leave in(contains sulfates though) and then applying the mousse and scrunching but my hair ALWAYS frizzes, mainly the roots and front of my hair.

I'm pretty brand new here as well (only on my 3rd co-wash after getting rid of my flat iron and tons of products), and found this site a tad overwhelming. I think it was all of the acronyms lol Maybe we need more stickies?
I had a few rules of thumb for getting new products:
1)Check out local drugstore/salon offerings online, then
2) Make sure they are cone and sulfate free, esp the poo/co
3) See which of those local products were ranked highly on the 'products' tab above
I budgeted as I knew that I'd have hits and misses (which I did). There were sales on some stuff as well.
0) A 'clarifying shampoo'
1) A 'cleansing conditioner'
2) A leave-in conditioner
3) A 'curl cream'
4) A curl mousse
5) A curl gel
Some people recommend protein and oil treatments. I had some oil from something a long time ago in my cupboard and experimented with that to seal my hair.
I found that:
- My hair will take a while to come up to speed while it heals from abuse, recovers its curl/waves, gets healthier and I figure it out
- I don't need as much product as many other people; much less, in fact, otherwise my hair looks 'wet'. I overbought for sure.
- HOW you put on a product is as important as what it is (lots of threads on this)
- Putting product in soaking wet, as well as 'plopping' really helps fight frizz
- A dryer bonnet did away with the frizz I rocked for a few days

Hi, it sounds too me like you might be getting too much protein? You can research protein on this forum. I think too much protein makes your hair frizzy and stiff. So you may want to check the ingredients on the products you do use. Or you can just type the product name into the search bar under the PRODUCTS tab and see if any of the symbols indicate protein or not. :) Other than that, if you find your hair is very dry, try a moisturizing leave-in conditioner.

I'm surprised someone hasn't suggested this already, but before anyone can give you really useful suggestions, you need to share what your hair properties are (texture/width, porosity, etc). Curl pattern is transient. Properties determine what ingredients will and won't work for your hair. Livecurlylivefree.com has tons of info to figure out your properties if you haven't yet.
Thanks guys so much for the suggestions. Surprisingly enough, after hearing the rave over the SheaMoisture products, I went and bought them and OMG. My hair looooooooves them. My curls already look amazing and they last for days. Never thought that would happen.
