New here... Help me identify my hair type, please? =D

Hi! I'm new here and have been finding TONS of helpful info since joining. So happy I found NC!

I am a bit confused with the hair type system... My hair has the pattern of a 2A (very loose S shaped waves throughout-- can be coaxed into tighter waves) but is by no means fine or thin. My hair is VERY dense and medium verging on thick/coarse.

Any ideas? =D

I have the same question! 1c 2a??

I posted in he imposter thread because I am not really curly. Just....well I've often heard it described as "strong" or stubborn. I wish it were just more definite hair one way or the other.
I googled 1C... Mine is wavier than that I think. I wonder if I may be 2C. My hair fits the description as far as density and width but not curl pattern. I also have the straight under layer that is described.
2A/B. Mix of fine, medium, and coarse (mostly medium). Dense. Mix of normal and high porosity.
Dry climate.

Honestly, curl pattern is just that... It's the shape and length of the wave, not the texture even though some websites will use the typical texture in the wave type descriptions. This is why it's important to take your texture, porosity, and elasticity into consideration when looking at products and techniques.

How do you determine elasticity? I suspect I don't have that much
Any chance you could post a pic? That might be helpful....
Agreeing w/JakRussel3: The curl pattern is less an identifier than width (texture), porosity, and elasticity.

I have fine (translucent, hard to find/feel a single strand), low porosity (squeaks when fingers are run up it), low elasticity hair (snaps like THAT), and it's very dense on my head - tons of it. Some days it looks 2A or 2B (mostly before CG). Some days it is definitely 3A. That has more to do with how I care for it. It changed in about a week of CG. But width, porosity, and elasticity are the same.
