Quidad botanical boost

I really need to moisturize my hair. I am really tired of having to glop on oil and then make it look oily and then a couple days later it looks kind of healthy. I know oil doesn't moisturize my hair but it makes it look good for a while. So I was searching madly on the Internet for a product to moisturize my hair and I came across Quidad Botanical Boost. If anyone has tried it can you tell me about your experience and maybe recommend something low budget that will moisturize hair?

I have thick 2b, 3a hair and it is high porosity.
I'm using:
Head and shoulders smooth & silky shampoo+conditioner
Head and shoulders smooth & silky conditioner
No heat
Baby oil/ olive oil

What are your hair properties? Have you tried a DT with heat? I've never tried the botanical boost but I know Ouidad products tend to have protein. If you have fine hair it shouldn't be an issue, but if moisture is truly what you're desperate for Id aim for something without protein for the moment. It's hard to tell without knowing your properties & how your hair is behaving that makes you think it is dry.

A popular rich conditioner around here is GVP conditioning balm from Sally's. If you don't have a Sally's around you can get the Biolage version at Walmart but it is $14-$20. My favorite DT is curl junkie curl rehab but you can't find it on the ground, and it is also $20. I rarely need a DT so I'm not full of other suggestions at the moment.

HTH!
fine, thin, normal/(low?) porosity. Mod-CG. Usually I can't co-wash more than 1x a week, & sometimes I have to use T-Gel in rotation due to scalp issues.

Co-wash: VO5 Volumizing
Poo: Giovanni 50:50
RO:TN, Nexxus Youth Renewal, Alba Coconut
LI: KCKT
PT: gelatin PT, ION EC
Stylers: Giovanni mousse, TIGI Curls Rock amplifier (a-cone), Curls Rock Strong Hold Mousse
Gels: SCC spray gel

Your shampoo and condish are what are probably drying out your hair. The botanical boost spray is more for refreshing hair when it's dry (afternoon, 2nd day hair etc), not for adding moisture overall.

If you absolutely have to use that shampoo due to dandruff, before your shower, I would spray your hair with water until nice and damp, then load on conditioner), leave it all in, and just apply the poo to your hands and apply only to your scalp and massage. Then rinse it all out, then reapply more condish, partially rinse that out, then seal with a little oil to keep the condish trapped in your hair. Then style as usual.

Good luck!
2C/ Coarse/ Normal porosity/ SW Florida/ Salt & Pepper
Cleanse: CJ Daily Fix, JC Cleansing Cream, TJ Tea Tree Condish
Condish: JC Too Shea, CJ Curl Rehab (both as RO & LI)
Stylers: UFD CM, CJ PP, JC Spiralicious, Darcy's Cream Gel & Cocoa bean whip
by hair properties I mean texture - fine vs coarse - porosity, either low normal or high, & density - thick vs thin.

H&S is very very drying. If you have to use something for dandruff, try the T Gel. The sulfate in it is less harsh than H&S.

I replied in your other thread about this product. I found it unremarkable. Here's a link to help you determine your properties Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics

And just to answer your original question - I use Botanical Boost all the time, but not for moisture. I use it to refresh 2nd and 3rd day hair if the curls need perking up. In the morning, I fluff out my hair after I take down my pineapple. If I need to reshape any curls, I spray the b.boost in until its slightly to very damp, scrunch, then pile the hair loosely on top of my head and cover w a big (so its not crushing the hair) shower cap while I dress and do my makeup. When i pull off the cap, I often have better 2 or 3 day hair than i do the day i wash it. I don't know that there is anything particularly special about this product. The bottle delivers a very fine mist, which is great for my finer hair. I like that its not moisture rich and has some protein. It doesn't weigh my hair down. I think it gives me better clumping than I get with plain water, but I am sure I could mix up a DIY spray that would do the same thing if I made the effort. HTH. Almost forgot. Try coconut oil for moisture. It's fantastic. I get super shiny curls and great definition after I do a DT with it.

I've tried it and found it better for refreshing, have since found something better for my hair. we all have to find the right combo for wash/cowash days and 2nd, 3rd, etc days. (I do have some produts in the sawp or sale threads, inc Bot boost)

Generally speaking, I've heard that dandruff shampoos and conditioners are very harsh on all hair types. Example, my hubby used to use H&S when we were first married 25 years ago and had continual flaking. I finally let him run out of product since he wouldn't try anything else as long as I kept buying H&S. He hasn't gone back in 24 years and hasn't had a flake since then either! He has gorgeous straight strawberry blond hair with full moisture content, I love to play with his hair while watching TV.
