Has anyone tried Shea Moisture Curling GEL Souffle. This is different than the original souffle. I picked it up today but can't find any reviews. It's this one:

2A/B. Mix of fine, medium, and coarse (mostly medium). Dense. Mix of normal and high porosity.
Dry climate.

I have. I really liked it but had to stop using it because I am allergic to aloe.

* A little goes a long way. Ifyou use too much it can be sticky.

Are you sure it's different and not just a change in packaging. They seem to use souffle and gel souffle interchangeably

I don't think it's different, they just renamed it at some point. I bought this a couple months ago and didn't notice anything different from the original one. I had thrown away my old jar so I wasn't able to compare the ingredients but the product looks, smells and has the same consistency as the original IMO.

I JUST bought this on Thursday and used it for the first time yesterday. So glad you posted this cause I really wanted to talk to some 2s about it. I used it after washing, then put in a leave-in (homemade, not crazy about it, would love some suggestions!), then used the SM souffle as a gel. It made my hair so crunchy and sticky! So crunchy that my hair looked wet all day and I couldn't SOTC.

BUT, I really believe that I used it incorrectly. First of all, I would like to try it without that homemade leave-in. Secondly, I think I used waaaaaaaaay too much souffle. This seems to me to be the kind of product you use sparingly (which, if true, is great because it comes in a giant tub and is cheap-ish).

This morning I co-washed and conditioned, did not use my leave-in, then put my DevaCurl Light Defining Gel in. I let that dry, then, in places where I had a little frizz, I put tiny amounts of the SM souffle. SO MUCH BETTER! I'm going to try it again as a main gel, without the leave-in and using a much smaller amount, but if that still doesn't work, I'll use it for touch-ups on dry curls.

I have read elsewhere on curltalk that people don't like to use this stuff on dry hair, but I didn't find a problem with it.
New to CG and trying to find my way

Texture: 2b/2c
Low-Poo: Bioinfusions Rosemary Mint
Co-Wash: VO5 Moisture Milks Conditioner
Rinse-Outs: DevaCurl One, Yes to Cucumbers, Bioinfusions Rosemary Mint (I'm still trying to figure out which one I like best)
Leave-In: ?? I need one!!
Gel: DevaCurl Light Defining Gel
Other: Pure Coconut Oil
Yes, I have this, though I had been having trouble finding reviews with the product of the exact same name. I, too, assumed that they recently re-named the product to clarify that it is a gel. Here's how I've been using it.

I wash or co-wash my head upside-down over tub. Then either use a rinse-out conditioner or don't (when I do, it's Tresemme Naturals Moisture), and then add my Leave-In Conditioner (I've been using Loreal EverCurl in the blue tube) when my hair is dripping wet. Sometimes if my hair isn't dripping wet when I add the LI, I scoop water into my hands and add it to my hair starting at the roots (I believe like the super-soaker method).

Then, I dip 2 fingers into the Gel Souffle and use that amount to coat my hands evenly. I gently scrunch my very wet waves with this product.

Then, I add my hard-hold gel (I've been using LA Looks but today I used Herbal Essences Totally Twisted).

Diffuse my hair to 80%, let air dry the rest of the way with clips at the crown and top of head (trying to control part cracks between clumps), and then Scrunch out the Crunch with a very fine coating of coconut oil on my palms.

I like this routine pretty well. I don't know if the Shea Moisture is making a huge difference but I don't really feel like dropping it out right now to find out, since I am liking my results.
hamalee likes this.
Started embracing the 2b waves in March 2013. I can't believe how immediate the difference, when I stopped using sulfates! Now I need guidance on most everything else.
My best guess so far at my hair profile: 2b, medium porosity, fine and med width strands, low-to-med density, medium length.
Quite a few curlies have mixed this with SM-CES or other cream styler to create a cream/gel and have had great results.

I purchased this product at the recommendation of anassistant at the beauty supply store. Once I came home, I looked it up andbecame disappointed once I read all of the negative reviews about this product.I remembered someone telling me that everyone's hair is different so I decidedto try it. I washed my hair and distributed the product on soaking wet hairthen twisted my hair. I let it set during the night. When I untwisted it in themorning, I had a head full of beautiful soft curls. The product workedwonderfully for me. I have extremely dry hair, type 4c. I think the extraoiliness that the other ladies described is the feature that actually workedfor my hair. It wasn't hard or dry. Thisproduct has made its way into one of my favorites. I will say though that I donot like the consistency of the product. Un-set jello describes it perfectly. It did feel really oily on my hands, but I think this extra oil worked wondersfor my hair. This product is probably best for 4 type hair.

I just used it this week to twist my hair and I'm loving it. I'm glad I read reviews on it before using because people weren't joking when they said that a little goes a long way. Love how shiny it leaves my hair without the crunch. Still have to experiment with it for a wash n go but so far I give this a thumbs up

I have it sitting in my product box, I have never used it. I'll do a wash and go today and then post pictures once it dries. I'll also tell you how it feels and how I used it.
well, so far, it's worked pretty well. I did go online to read reviews and although did not find many here I did read the reviews from the Walgreen's site. What I got out of it was to use it sparingly. I washed my hair, put some tresseme condish as a leave-in. Then with my hair upside down, ran some hair pudding through my soaking hair. Stood up, separated my hair into four sections with clips. Undid the sections one by one and "raked" a small amount of the soufflé through my hair with my fingers. Then I "plopped" my hair for an hour. Took it out of the plop to let it air dry. The soufflé left my hair much softer--I will say though, I have an EXTREMELY difficult time with my hair once it dries completely b/c no matter what product I use, my hair just frizzes. This looks like a keeper though.
