I originally started my CG journey in May last year... The pic below is a before and after. the left is a few months before of what I thought was a decent hair day when worn wavy. The right is one month in at my wedding rehearsal. ImageUploadedByCurlTalk1370147395.159181.jpg

After three and a half months in, I realized my heat damaged and color damaged ends were not going to heal themselves anymore... So I BC'd.

This was August of last year.... The before and after of my BC.

It's been a lot of ups and downs and mostly downs. Today I realized as I looked in the mirror, that my hair is absolutely amazing. I never thought I'd have this kind of shine and definition!

I just thought I'd share a happy non problem CG wavy story!

Wow! That's an amazing improvement!!
I'm so happy to see pics of vast improvement from a fellow wavy. When I first started it was very frustrating to see the before photos with wavy hair and after is 3-something. I've seen a big improvement in my hair in just 6 months, glad to know it will keep improving.
Congratulations!

My Hair:
2c
Fine, low porosity, med/high density
BSL - going for mid back to waist

HG: currently
just washing with a low poo that contains protein (Alba Naturals Coconut) and using Suave Naturals Coconut as both a RO and LI. No stylers right now, but this gives me pretty good curl, definition, low-ish frizz, and it feels and looks good. Also an occasional PT (liking the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula which has cones) seems to be key for me.

Modified CG since February 2013

LOVE your hair! I can see your products listed below but would you mind sharing your routine?

Thanks!!

Not at all! I'll try to be thorough.

Actually I need to update my signature.

I cowash with Burt's Bees More Moisture Boabab. When I need to low poo (about once every week and a half or two weeks) I use KCCC or Natures Gate Tea Tree or Lavender poo.

For conditioner, I've been using Natures Gate Tea Tree condish. I put a generous amount in my hands and then slather it on the ends and start finger combing while working my way up to the roots. I don't put the conditioner on my scalp, but I get pretty close. I find it have less frizz the closer to my roots I get. Once it's good and detangled (which can take up to ten minutes sometimes) I pull it up loosely and finish with my shower and don't rinse.

Once I'm done in the shower, I let my hair fall and lean back and give it a lose shake. Then I lean my head to the side so my hair falls to the side of my body just in front of my shoulder, and begin applying product. I start with KY... Yes, lube. It's virtually the exact same ingredients as Spiral Solutions. It does have a lot of glycerin in it, just a heads up to those that might be sensitive. I put a half a palmful dollop in my hand and spread it around my hands and again begin finger combing that in. I usually have enough to spread around my entire head while finger combing. After I've done one side I'll tilt my head to the opposite side of my body and finger comb that side the same as before. I use whats already in my hair to keep distributing. It gives good slip and spreads easily. I also go up to about two inches from my roots or scalp. I don't scrunch at all while applying the KY... It's just to encourage clumping. (Side note, I sometimes do this with KCCC instead of KY but that works best in the winter and the KY works best in the summer for me.)

Then I flip upside down and shake my head lightly around to help it fall into place. Then I use either Deva Arc AnGel or HESMU as a gel. While upside down, I put in almost a palmful into my hand and then scrunch the top and back upward making sure to get it evenly distributed throughout my head. Then I flip back right side up and lean back and give another loose shake to let my roots settle back in place. I tilt to the side as before, and use about a half dollar amount of gel and scrunch up for each side of my head. I don't worry about curl here since its still pretty soaking and I really just make sure my hair has product distributed evenly throughout. I use a LOT of product. You could say obscene.

It's a lot like 'hair yoga' flipping back and forth. :P

Then I get out of the shower and immediately go into a plop for about ten minutes. I use this time to get dressed, put on makeup and all that jazz.

Then I take my hair out of my plop and using the same plop cloth (microfiber towel), I scrunch upwards to wick out the excess water. This is where I start encouraging wave and curl. I make sure I don't touch it with my bare hands either. Towel covered hands only. Then I use my diffuser and begin to softly diffuse the sides and back and underneath by the base of my neck while right side up. I use the low setting for air and not heat while diffusing. Then I flip upside down again and diffuse focusing on the top and near my temples. Once my tips start feeling hard or crunchy, I clip the roots just in the front and let the rest air dry. I like to keep tilting my head back and shake softly side to side. This helps encourage it to dry away from my face and fall into place. Before I head out, I spritz it all over with HESMU spray gel to give it a good extra cast.

Then I drive to work (about a 30-45 min drive) and once I'm there and parked, I softly SOTC. It's still damp feeling but nothing crazy, and the rest air dries.

Since its gotten longer, I have been having better success at pineappling, so I've been doing that at night and I'm able to get fairly decent 2nd and 3rd day hair. In the mornings I gently take it out of my pineapple and spritz with the HESMU spray gel again and scrunch with my hands upwards. That's it.

It takes a while, but if I can get a few days wear out of it, it's worth it to me. And the 2nd day & 3rd day hair takes all of five minutes. Also, I don't have kids, so I'm sure that helps.

In the last after photo above, that is 2nd day hair.

I should also note that my hair is VERY THIN and fine, but dense! I have a ton of hair on my head, so the fine hair problems don't affect me as much. If you have fine hair and not a ton, I'd do the same without as much product.

Pixie, I don't wash out ANY conditioner. I thought the whole condition w/ RO and then add a LI was a waste of product. Since my hair was cleaned, and I detangle and get rid of all the shed hairs while detangling, I just leave that in. I also pull it up loosely atop my head to get it out of the way and do normal shower stuff while letting it soak in. Then when the shower is all done and water off, I'll take it down and apply product.
