Default How do YOU Detangle?

Hello! I was wondering how you wavies detangle your hair. Do you use a normal brush? Denman? Tangle teezer? Wide toothed comb? I would love to hear what you use! I normally use my wide toothed comb and then a regular brush, but my brush broke so now I'm deciding on getting a tangle teezer or denman

Same as curlies. In the shower with a good slippy conditioner/detangler on, gently from the bottom working up. Sometimes I'll wet the length of my hair (leave the roots still dry), add conditioner to the length, then detangle. For those with thin, thinning hair (or excess shedding of any kind) this may be the best way, because your roots are stronger dry than when wet.

I haven't brushed or combed my hair in 12 years. I'm not even kidding. I discovered in high school that brushing (my dry hair) made my hair look awful, and I stopped. I told my mom and she was impressed.... didn't understand but accepted.

My grandma on the other hand would keep trying to brush my hair when I wasn't looking! She was horrified.

I actually use my hands with my hair covered in conditioner in the shower. It works well for me, because I can feel the tangles. I don't detangle dry hair; it beomes frizzy.

Same I use my hands. I don't think you ever really need a brush or wide tooth comb to detangle. I know some people like it. Some curlies use the denman to encourage clumps and/or distribute product more evenly.

I don't brush, that stretches the curl out, completely breaks up clumps and damages hair. I primarily finger detangle when dripping wet and slathered in co-wash conditioner. Sometimes I dry comb right before washing, if so I use a Dimples double row detangling comb in sections starting from the bottom.

Now that my hair is longer, I've been using a shower comb in the shower with my hair soaked with water and conditioner to add slip. When it was shorter, I used my fingers.

While I've got my hair loaded up with conditioner, I either finger comb my hair or use a wide tooth comb. Gently. Works well.

I don't really have to detangle at all. I just run my fingers through it when I'm rinsing out conditioner, and it pretty much just falls out, if that makes sense. I always thought it was because I'm wavy not curly, but that must not be it. Hmm.

The only time I detangle is when my hair is wet with conditioner. For 2nd, 3rd, etc day hair I use my fingers gently. If I brush or comb my hair while it is dry I will look like bride of frankenstein.
