This page has an image illustrating how to plop, as well as a text explanation. You can use a microfiber towel, flour sack towel, or cotton t-shirt, all of which are less likely to create frizz than a regular terrycloth towel. There's also the Live Curly Live Free plop technique, which you can read about here: Plopping the Live Curly Live Free Way . Some like to turban instead, which gives a different sort of curl pattern than plopping. Again, flour sack, microfiber, or a t-shirt will help reduce frizz.

For people with hair shoulder length or shorter, plopping will often give them wonky curls. They can scrunch with microfiber, flour sack, or a t-shirt in lieu of plopping. Curlytwirlykate does a very modified "plop" with small t-shirt squares. She uses a square to gently scrunch a section of hair up to the scalp, then tucks the corners in and uses a jaw clip to secure it. She uses however many squares she needs to contain all her hair.

I've experimented this summer with loosely turbaning into a microfiber pillowcase, then adding a terrycloth towel on top. The dews have been so high this summer (60's to near 80) that my hair's up by afternoon anyway, so I don't mind the slightly looser curls this method gives me. I wrap each layer over my forehead, so it isn't putting tension on my hair, then flip the tail straight back over the top of my head, so my curls aren't twisted either. In this case, the microfiber keeps me from frizzing, while the terry towel pulls out more water than the microfiber alone. I leave it up just long enough to apply my body lotion and dress, then let my hair down and shake my head gently so they fall properly.

I never plop-I think my hair is too short and it made my layers insane so I just t shirt scrunch to dry it a little and then I just scrunch it in place with my fingers. I usually end up diffusing because of time but I like it also because it makes my hair a bit curlier.
I'm going to go ahead and say 3a
fine/medium texture and a bit porous-I color
Spring routine: Renpure luxurious argan oil shampoo/Loreal Advanced Care Color conditioner , HETT gel
