Less curly?

I believe my hair is about 2c. It has ringlets underneath with some loose curls/waves on top. It's pretty course and thick. It was dry from highlighting and straightening it, but it was dry and frizzy back when I was little before i ever did anything to it. It was looking better from doing the cg method, at lest I think it was. It was time to get my hair highlighted because I was looking trashy with my roots getting long. I decided I wanted to start highlighting it less so I got a lot of brown put back in with way less highlights. It looks way less frizzy, but now it just won't curl like at all! I have a few ringlets around my face still, but the rest is like VERY loose waves. Probably 2a. It looks like my attempts to blow dry or straight which never really did anything but loosen the curls. I washed my hair with a low poo with coco betaine to get the products she used out. I even tried a gelatin treatment even though I'm pretty sure my hair hates protein. It looks so bad. Any suggestions?
Have you deep conditioned?
I just used gvp and left it on for like five minutes after the gelatin.
Hmm. I hear gvp is not really deep conditioning. Also, 5 min is not much after a strong protein treatment. What else do you have conditioner wise?
I can't find a good deep conditioner that does not have protein. I've looked everywhere :/
