I'm having a really weird problem. I have these tiny strands that are clumping to bigger strands only at the ends, while the top part just sticks out mostly straight. I don't really know how else to explain it. I've never seen my hair do that before.

Back in the good ol' days when my hair was longer and curlier (and Sunsilk was still available in the US!!!) my hair was never upside down until about 50% dry, when I put mousse in it. Is it being upside down that's making it do this?

You mean styling upside down? I can't it can rarely style upside down. It just gets messy.

Yes, sorry if I wasn't clear. I end up with a lot more straight pieces if I style it right side up, but these little ones are causing problems because they're staying straight, and I don't see them until it's dry. Separating them from the rest so they don't stick out just ends up messing up both.

Just keep trying techniques. I have so many fewer straight pieces now than five months ago and you have WAY curlier hair than me. And watch YouTube. Seriously you'll learn a lot.

Here is the technique I'm currently using and has been most successful for me. I know others with longer and curlier hair than mine who are using it to great effect with adaptations as needed. http://youtu.be/u6YdZ9eQ5mI

I'm on YouTube constantly! I know it's going to take time to figure out. I just end up tucking the straight pieces into where I clip my bangs back for now. Better than having it stick out all weird.

Check out the new Transition one I just posted. You can see where I started and how it developed. THis is largely due to getting better at technique.

I couldn't watch all of it because my screen went blank about halfway through, but wow!!! That is a huge change. You give me so much hope, chupie

I'm having an idea.... I'm having a lot of frizz, which might be partially due to the humidity lately (a LOT more than we're used to), but it happened when I quit using my Sleek & Shine leave-in. It doesn't do anything for me as a conditioner, but I never had much frizz at all when I was using it. I looked up the ingredients, and it does have amodimethicone, but that's OK if I low-poo, right? It has alcohol, which has me worried, but my hair always seemed to like it before, so I'm toying with the idea of at least giving it another go. I have a full bottle in my cabinet..

OK thanks. What about the alcohol? Is it a certain kind that's bad, or all alcohols in general?

Well I'd look for a new CG friendlier kind but if you don't feel it's done a lot of harm previously?

I'm definitely going to look for a better one. This was just an idea to get by until I can do that. I'm on a zero budget with a huge stash of non-cg products hanging out under the bathroom sink :/

I don't think it did much damage, but with all the other junk I was using, it's hard to say.

Well try it. It's not going to suddenly fry your hair now. (And what kind if alcohol. Some are softening not drying. Cetyl alcohol I think).

Cetearyl alcohol (2nd), isopropyl alcohol (8th), benzyl alcohol (19th). Wow that's a lot of ingredients ...

And just because I'm kind of laughing at myself, here's a pic of all the junk I just cleared out of my cabinet:

I will have, once I have more money.

Tried the Sleek & Shine today, but I don't think I'll use it again. It helped the frizz, but also loosened most of the wave. I have a few more random curls, but I've been getting more every day, so I don't think that's why.
At least our weather is supposed to go back to normal by Wednesday so I can start to get a better idea of what works.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

My hair actually stayed put all day!!! Dare I say, I've found a combo that works?

Extra l/i, HETT mousse, plopped for 15mins, added gel, plopped for another 10, diffused for 10. And I waited an extra half hour to SOTC after I thought it was dry (it still wasn't all the way dry, but close enough).

Gonna try for 2nd day, but I doubt it'll happen.

Poor lighting and no makeup because I stayed home today, but here it is, 10 hours after styling:

Did a BC last night & switched out some products. Hair is looking pretty good and feeling even better.

The only store that carries the Organix curl cream I wanted to try was out of it, so I got the Fructis Curl Calm Down (has a-cone, but oh well), changed to vo5 shea cashmere for RO, and got Frizz Ease Curl Reviver mousse. My hair is so soft!!
