Default hair is limp and not curling anymore

Hello! I hope to get some advice

My hair always feels limp after washing it. When it is dried, hair is flat and i don't have any curls. I'm 2A/2B. It sometimes curls in s curls, but now it is almost straight. I feel when it is frizzy, it curls a lot more and feels light.
I want my frizz back I use low poo shampoo. I tried not using conditioner, but it looked the same. I have clarified it and have done a protein treatment. Nothing helped. I always twist my hair overnight and it always curls really good. Now my hair won't even hold the curl But my hair actually feels the healthiest it's been, it is soft and not dry at all. I don't even know why my hair's behaving like that.

Do you think you might be using products that are too heavy for your hair? What products do you use?

I've thought about that, I used Dermorganic daily shampoo and now i switched to a shampoo base from an organic store, i hoped it would help, but it feels the same. And a little bit of light conditioner and nothing else right now. I'm afraid that more products will just make it worse.

This thread might be of some help to you. Have you tried a deep conditioner? It may sound scary, but if protein isn't helping you, then I would try a DT.

Have you changed anything in your hair regimen? Are you flat ironing your hair?

Welcome!

Have you clarified recently - with either sulphates or cocamidopropyl betaine? What ingredients are in the shampoo base and the light conditioner? Are you avoiding all silicones, waxes including cetyl esters, butters, petrolatum/ mineral oil?

Both hydrolysed protein and magnesium sulphate (epsom salts) can boost wave.

When my hair gets like that, it's either because I'm due for a trim or I need to switch up my products due to a change in seasonal dewpoints. I try changing products first, then if that doesn't work, trim time!

I think that maybe shampoo is too heavy for me, because sometimes just a shampoo completely changes my hair.

Shampoo base ingredients:
Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Decyl Glucoside, Lauryl Betaine, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate.

I don't have the conditioner near me right now, so cannot write the ingredients.

I think i will change my shampoo and conditioner. Maybe since the weather is changing, my hair needs something else.

What can you suggest for my hair that won't weigh it down? Which ingredients are are / are not good for my hair?

laolaaful - I just tried the DermOrganic shampoo and conditioner today and my hair was a flop, my curls were so flat! So I ended up washing again with another lowpoo and put conditioner in... all that contained glycerin and my curls were a ton better. Either it was a protein or a glycerin thing, but I'm thinking glycerin, since my hair is curling fine now. I am so confused about this! lol

Nothing heavy in that shampoo, in fact it is very basic. If you post the conditioner we can comment, there are too many ingredients to list them all here as being 'good' or 'bad' but do read the curl chemist series of articles on NC by Tonya McKay.

In general ingredients that can build up include many silicones, waxes including cetyl esters, butters, some polyquats, mineral oil/ petrolatum, hydrolysed protein.
