Default Getting that "Perm-y" look. :( Advice Or your transition experiences?

I'm Day 10 in my CGM project. But, I've not straightened my hair since early January....

The style that my waves dry in...reminds me so much of 80's hair bands and messy perms.

I'm wholely impatient. But I've committed to try this at least until St Pat's.

Is this a normal "phase" (the yucky perm look). Any good Wavy Curl specific advice or product recs?

I may be using products that are too heavy for my curls, perhaps? But my hair loves/needs/craves moisture.

Help. My hair is ugly today.

What products are you using, and what are your hair properties (do you know?)?

Thanks for the response!

Depending on the alignments of weather and product and luck, I'm "somewhere" on the way spectrum 2b to 3a. The sides of my hair are curlier than the back or the "bang" area (that area is pretty stressed). HIGHLY frizz prone (always have been), somewhat tangle prone (always). Dark brown (if that matters); un-processed. Individual strands are fine, but I seem to have a lot of them, so my hair is pretty full (except sometimes on top). I think it's high porosity (it seems to drink moisture and I feel the little bumps if I slide my fingers up a strand). Longer, mid back, with long layers.

Pre-CGM I would have described my hair as dry, but roots as oily (but now my roots aren't seeming oily).

Does any of that help?

Thanks, both. I think I may eventually do hair typing....

I've done pre-poos with coconut oil and deep conditioned with avocado.

I do think my hair is healthier looking that a few weeks ago (when it trult felt damaged by Loreal's Evercurl). I'm not sure what product is the "opposite" of that one, lol, but that's probably magical info for me if I found it! But I wonder if that's a contributing factor?

It's been 10 days (might as well say 11) since my last "shampoo." I've cowashed with the Suave naturals. I'd really like to wash right now, lol, but I cowashed last night (after a coconut oil/olive oil/peppermint oil treatment), so I'm going to try to make it another day.... Maybe wash with the sulfate-free shampoo and add a pinch of baking soda in case build up is causing issues?

I'm going to aim for a "kitchen" protein treatment tomorrow. We've got gobs of snow and I've no intention of venturing farther than the corner grocery.... I have olive oil and coconut oil and yogurt and bananas in the house. Coffee and eggs.... What to "whip up?"

I've been curious about the Shea Moisture Yucca deep treatments, too.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a "perm-y phase!"

Thanks, ladies!

I have wavy hair & definitely wash - so I guess I'm really modified CG. I only wash about every other week, when my hair starts acting weird. Sadly I do t think there is any one perfect product or routine - but I love my wavy curls, so I experiment a lot Good luck!!!
