Anyone else perfectly happy being a wavy? I'm meant to be a 2b and I don't ever want to get any curlier than that because it wouldn't be me. I just get the general feeling here that it's "the curlier the better"...? I don't care when my hair loses some of its pattern if I don't wash my hair for a couple days. I like my straighter 3rd day hair as much as my curlier 1st day hair...it's just a change in hairstyle.

I think a lot of wavies are excited to escape being a 'straight' frizzy so want as much wave as possible. Also plenty of us are dealing with more than one wave pattern on the same head so trying to even that out.

I find my 2c section easier to style than my 2a section which all too often just looks like it needs a good brushing.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
Experimenting with: benign neglect
I think its all about acceptance. Once you've accepted and grown to love your own head of hair...the desire for another texture sometimes dissipates. I love my 3b spirals. And wouldn't want to be curlier or wavier. Because I've learned my own curls. Idk. Just my take. .

Personally, my attitude for my hair is 'the curlier the better', but that's just a preference for what I want my own hair to look like. I don't think anyone here is critical of less curly hair and thinks 'the curlier the better' for everyone's hair.

It's more of a preference for their own locks, than for the community as a whole

Growing my hair out Rapunzel-style
I had thought the other day. I achieved 2nd day hair for the first time in 6months when I didn't try to force extra curl on a wash day. The mellow wave looked pretty and more becoming as that was the way my hair is intended to be. We all have to learn to love and nurture what we have.

I'm in between wavy/curly. I have to say right now that my wavy hair is much easier to manage, it's much less maintenance. I prefer my 2nd day hair as well since I cut out my deva cut. I go to bed curly, wake up wavy and don't have to do much with my hair. I do enjoy my curly hair a lot, just some days it's hard to deal with - either in the face, or having to refresh. It's all beautiful, so curlier isn't necessarily better. I just feel like I have the best of both worlds right now.
2c-3a - med-coarse - normal-high porosity - high density

NP/LP: CJ Daily Fix, KMF Whenever / Giovanni TTTT
RO/LI: Sevi Pumpkin Seed, CJ Argan & Olive Oil, Aussie Moist, TN Nourishing Moisture, YTCucs
DC: KC Stellar Strands
STYLER: Ouidad Climate Control, KCCC, SS Curl Enhancing Jelly, JC Rockin' Ringlets
COLOR: henna, amla & indigo
: glycerin in high/low dews, polyquats, parabens
I have to remind myself when I look at really beautiful waves and curl that that is not me, do not expect my hair to do this. It's ok. I still want it.
I personally would like to have more curl. Or not even more curl, just a more even pattern. It's not really about 'the curlier the better', because I don't think I'd want anything more than a 3b, but I just feel bad sometimes because some of my hair will be curlier than some other parts and I really love it, so I wish I could have it all over.

[I]A 2C, wishfully thinking of being 3a. Sometimes I get there. CG since October 2013, Eurocurly (just for a few months more!), last bleached February 2013, demi-permanent dyed to cover, then only henna. Heat-free since January 2014! Hair's mostly healthy, except the last ends. SBL, wanting elbow length.

Routine:
CW-LI: Garnier Ultra Doux (Cocoa+Coconut Oil/Mango+Tiaré)
DC: Biofficina Toscana Maschera Nutriente Protettiva, or my own product.
Homemade FSG, L'Oreal Styling Gel.
Yeah, I feel like this is a pretty common attitude here. My hair is 2a right now but can get much wavier in the summer, 2b/c, and I like it a lot better when it's 2a. So much easier to manage. Don't get me wrong, I think curly hair is very pretty, but it's so much work and honestly I think I look best with my loose waves.

I once got a perm that (I now know) gave me amazing extremely natural looking 3a/b curl. I. Looked. Fabulous. One day I was getting gas and the young man in the store was just staring at me. He said with a tinge of awe "You have movie star hair". Lol. That was my favorite hair ever. But it was also the only perm that ever turned out like that. Plus I was worried about frying my hair since I also was needing to color more frequently. Once I stopped perming I couldn't do anything with it (did not know I had any wave. Just thought I had "stubborn" hair that pushed out anything I tried imposing on it) so I cut it short and kept it that way for the next 10 years.
