Which Jessicurl Styling Product is the Best for Wavies?

I'm thinking of ordering some products from Jessicurl. I'd like to try Too Shea! and one styling product.

Do I need to use all of the styling products for best results (and just try a trial pack), or is there one good product that will enhance waves nicely and prevent frizz while keeping them soft and lightweight?

What I'm using right now:

I'm having good luck with Angell (nice shine, a little humidity frizz here and there, but my wiry, coarse frizz is mostly controlled with it), but I don't think it helps the weight of my hair. I scrunch in L'Oreal Tightly Wound as a refresher spray for midday or 2nd day hair. I'm a 2c with thick, coarse hair down to my mid-back with a couple spiral-y waves here and there. No product + comb = poof!

CCSS = love

Best wavie-girl styler I've found yet. Healthy shine, definition, and super-touchable hair. I can go *two full days* with no frizz (I waller around in my sleep like you wouldn't believe so this is a miracle).
For just a smidge more hold without counteracting the light flowyness of the CCSS, I've been using a little HE SMU spray gel and it's working really well to combat the humidity here.

I'm not too keen on RR so far (ended up limp and stringy) and haven't broken out the Gelebration yet but I absolutely looooove Too Shea and CCSS. Aloeba is a fabulous leave-in too. Too Shea is a little too heavy for me to leave in but amazingly it's not too heavy for a regular co if I don't use too much and make sure to rinse well. I wanna try Aloeba as a regular co but I only have a trial bottle so I'm nursing it. I'm planning to order full sizes of Aloeba and GLS as soon as I can.

Which scent are you gonna get?

Thank you for the helpful feedback! Frizz is one of my main concerns, so CCSS definitely sounds like a miracle product! Too Shea! sounds like it would be a huge step up from my $1 conditioners. :P My goal is to use only one styling product (although Awe Inspiraling Spray looks pretty nice too!).

I've never tried Jessicurl before, but the whole idea behind it seems great. As for the scent, I'm thinking Island Fantasy. I love coconut and other tropical scents! Which scent(s) do you like?
2a/M-C/ii hair. Super long.
I got a sample of Awe Inspiraling as well but I haven't decided how to use it yet. So far I've only done the spray in hand, as a drop of CCSS and a little water and scrunch in to refresh. This worked pretty well.
Unfortunately my box-o-goodies showed up about 3 days before I broke my hand so I haven't gotten to experiment as much as I'd like yet. I use the Aloeba and CCSS every day though.

I love the Island Fantasy scent. I wasn't too sure about it at first whiff but now I'm inclined to sniff my Too Shea everytime I go to the bathroom. LOL It smell like it has the potential to be strong or clash with other scents but that's totally not the case. It turns into a really light fresh barely there scent on my hair and doesn't even clash with the strong fragrances of Aussie Moist and HE SMU! I was shocked.
My Gelebration is Citrus Lavander because I got a big bottle to split w/ my mom and she loves lavander. Personally, lavander makes me gag but this actually smells pretty nice. Island Fantasy is just perfect for summer though. Both scents are fresh and not overpowering.

I'm tempted to add a little rosemary essential oil to my unscented Awe Inspiralling just because I like rosemary.

Cool, I'm glad the Awe Inspiraling Spray worked for you. I'm sorry about your hand.

Island Fantasy sounds really awesome. That's how my Catwalk Oatmeal and Honey shampoo was. I sniffed it a lot because the smell was so yummy!

I'm glad the scent doesn't clash with stuff either, because I might mix the CCSS with L'Oreal Tightly Wound on humid days or Too Shea! with a more dilute conditioner if it's too heavy. The Vanilla Grapefruit room fragrance sounds great too!

Yeah, rosemary is nice. Herbal and fresh.

CCSS goes fine with LTW too. I only used that combo once but it worked out well. LTW has been a fav of mine for months but I don't like to spray it so it's been set aside for a few weeks. :P

Hi, Mint,

I bought the trial pack but haven't really used it yet. I have been using Too Shea, however, and I think it's a fantastic conditioner. It is very rich and I think it's better for me used as a DT. I put it on, wrap up my head, and leave it for a few hours. It makes my hair incredibly soft and gives some shine. I think it might weigh down my waves a little, but when I used LOOB and TL after, I got my best hair day yet. My hair was really parched when I started doing CG just a month ago, and I think the Too Shea is helping restore my hair a lot.

By the way, when I use the spray gels like TL, I spray into my hand & then apply -- I can't figure out how to distribute by spraying and would end up using way too much.

I have the Lavender Citrus scent, and I love it, but I'm a big fan of lavender and things like rosemary, lemon verbena, etc., and I'm not partial to coconut scents (too much Coppertone long ago!).
2-something? Coarse, medium underneath. Mid-back. On CG since 5/9/07.
Washing COs: VO5 Blackberry, Suave Cherry
Detangle and leave-in: Sally's GVP Conditioning Balm -- I found my HG CO!
Seal with camellia oil
Leave-in: Aura cherry almond
Gels: Homemade FSG, Eco-styler
Plus: SOTC or smooth with camellia oil, JC Nourish & Shine
Homemade food-based DTs

I find that HE SMU is a fine enough spray to disperse evenly and light enough that I don't overdo it but LTW comes out all uneven and blobby (it's too thick to be a spray, IMO) but it's great if I just blob it out in my hand like a regular gel.

Yay! Too Shea! sounds like an answer to my problem because my hair is so dry and frizzy! I shampoo (Burt's Bees) my scalp every time I wash, but I use a lot of conditioner to protect the length while doing that and then follow up with conditioner on the whole head of hair. I apply it liberally, and even though my hair is soft, some hairs are dry, coarse, and crackly without product. I guess Alberto VO5 and White Rain just aren't helping me that much for starting out CG, so I need a push with an extra moisturizing conditioner. :P

Alright, I ordered these products from Jessicurl:

Too Shea! 12 oz. in Island Fantasy

Trial sizes of Awe Inspiraling Spray and CCSS in Island Fantasy

Vanilla Grapefruit Room/Body Fragrance Spray

I can't wait!

I think you'll be very happy with the TooShea. The extra moisture will likely make a world of difference. Early in the CG adventure most people need more moisture than VO5 or White Rain can offer.
I tried some of the VO5 passionfruit smoothie last night. It smelled nice and really surprised me with super detangling power but I'm definitely a lot frizzier today... and my hair isn't even very dry anymore. I think I might try putting form honey in it next time to see if that helps.

That room/body spray sounds awesome. Can't wait to hear what you think of it. I need some new smell pretty stuff.

The VO5 Passionfruit Smoothie smells great and feels nice on the hair (if its in need of protein), and it really does have nice detangling properties. The protein free VO5 condishes work really nice for me with the lemon-aid rinse (I should try it with a protein one), but my hair does feel a little dry afterwards. When you put honey in conditioner, does it lighten your hair at all? That sounds like a nice fix for a too-thin conditioner.

I hope Too Shea! will work. It sounds really great. I ordered the full size because I don't think 2 ounces would last very long with the length of my hair. I can't wait to experiment with AIS and CCSS too!

Also, I ordered a free sample of Jessicurl's Hair Cleasing Cream. I shampoo my scalp with the Burt's Bees Pomegranate and Soy shampoo almost every day, and I wonder if that might be drying out my hair a lot, even when protecting the length with conditioner.

I'll keep you posted!

Hi...I'm new here. I'm in the middle of the Jessicurl heavy trial pack. I'm really liking in products esp. the Too Shea! I like the Cleasing Cream too but have found my scalp gets a little itchy on the second day after shampooing. So maybe that is a sign I need a stronger shampoo?? The deep treatment gives me a nice shine. I'm still playing with the Awe Inspiraling Gel but I applied a lot of it one time and got some really nice shine and a little frizz control (on 2nd day hair).

Since I'm new to this, I can't really compare/rate the other Jessicurl products. But it does seam like I get my hair a little curlier everytime I wash it and apply the products.

I've decided to try the Devacurl products next but will probably later kick myself that I didn't stick with Jessicurl.
Welcome, Maurene! Thanks for sharing and let us know what you think when you fully test out Jessicurl and DevaCurl.

I have splendid news: I got my Jessicurl stuff already!! The shipping was so fast! I'm going to try out everything tomorrow, but here is my review of the scents:

Island Fantasy - This stuff smells amazing!! Sweet, rich and creamy but light. There's a definite coconut scent in it but not too strong. Like a coconut macaroon. The Too Shea! smells like a cross between a coconut macaroon and salt water taffy. Love it!

Vanilla Grapefruit - It smells super sweet and creamy, like a creamsicle. It almost smells like oranges because of the sweetness, but it's definitely grapefruit. I like this because it's fresh and sweet, but it's very strong, so you only need a little of this room/body spray.

Edit: After using it a second time, the scent doesn't seem as strong.

Here is my review so far of the products I used today:

Too Shea! smelled great (did not smell good then bad like other natural products sometimes do) and felt light yet creamy. I didn't have to use a ton, but still had to use a fair amount to saturate my hair. It rinsed out easily as well.

I sprayed my hair with the Awe Inspiraling Spray about 7-12 times when soaking wet and scrunched with a t-shirt, followed with CCSS (about 2 quarter-sized puddles; I think I needed more) then sprayed a little more AIS.

My hair took a long time to dry and I needed to refresh with AIS and CCSS to make my hair look presentable. I have a feeling that I may still have buildup from Pantene or something else with cyclopentasiloxane before I went CG because I only shampooed the length with Catwalk Oatmeal and Honey once before starting my routine. The length of my hair has not been exposed to sulfate shampoo since, but I always use gentle 'poo on my scalp. My hair is still fairly frizzy and feeling dry. It's soft but I doubt it's overconditioned due to my tangles. I'm going to clarify well with Suave Coconut Shampoo and try again.

I'm still experimenting with the Jessicurl, but if I find that my current routine with it doesn't work, I might try Rockin' Ringlets (the more concentrated version of Gelebration).

I LOVE Too Shea I had very dry hair when I started using it and now Im just not even half way through my tub and my hair is so moisturized a complete turn around. I also have RR I use two quarter size amounts and one quarter size CCSC. I get ringlets with this combo and my hair is starting to get in really good shape. I have AIS and I use it on second day hair sometimes I just spray it on and scrunch. Other days I use CCSC and spray it in my palm. AIS is my least favorite product though it really doesnt do alot for my hair actually my hair really looks just as good on second day with just misting with conditioner water. I havent got Aloeba yet I have been using GF sleek and shine leave in.
