Don't you just hate when they discontinue a product you love? Maybe you can keep the ingredients written down and find a comparable product.

I don't blame you for not trying the Ava Aussie Combo if you have great second day hair! If I'd have slept sitting up, I could almost have second day hair today. In fact, I'm fixing to go in and mix up a small spray bottle of 1/2 conditioner and 1/2 water to see if I can revive my hair. Since we're not doing anything special tonite, I'm going to experiment with ABBA and Aura Gel and let it air dry this time. I'm saving the AAC for when I definitely want a good hair day .

On a side note, I've been taking pics all week and get hubby to help me load them into the puter when he gets home. Maybe I'll have some pics up by tomorrow. It'll be quite obvious I don't know how to take digital photos of myself without his help .

Yes, I really do hate when they discontine a good thing That's a good idea re: the ingredients, though. I really need to compare the ingredients in the products that work well for my hair, so I know what to look for!

I can't wait to see your pics!!! I'm loading some as we speak of earlier in the week w/o bangs. I haven't trimmed them yet , so we'll see how it goes. I really need to get an appt for highlights & a trim, though, as my gray streak is really standing out

I think for me to have *good* 2nd day hair means that it's not all flat. As long as there is still some volume to it, I'm pretty happy. I don't have a strong wave pattern to begin with, so my wave is always weaker the 2nd day, but as long as it's not all *stuck to my head flat* looking, I'm happy

I used it over my RR/CCSS mixed together combo. That is what I used in my New Haircut Pictures (I am fairly sure ) I use about a nickel size puddle.

Please don't aplogize for asking questions! I love helping each other out And, thank you very much for the compliment on my hair :kisses:kisses.gif

I just checked out your hair pics (again); and, awesome job on the second day hair. I wish I could do that. I love it!

kjwavy - you look good with or without bangs . Hubby is home now and I just asked him to help me with the pics later on.

I don't think my hair likes the Aura Gel. I mixed it with a little bit of ABBA and ended diffusing (the spray condish test didn't work) for about 3 minutes and then let it air dry. I think it looks okay, it just feel as good as the AAC. I'll try to throw a pic of it in.

I can't get second day hair because I tend to sleep on my right side, so in the morning it's all frizzed out and there's no coddling it at all. The only way I'll do second day hair is if I'm not leaving the house at all .

kjwavy, I too am moarning the loss of the Deepshine Liquid Gel.

The nearest match I've found is Rusk Jel Gloss. It's hold isn't as strong, but the effects are similar. It uses honey instead of protein for curl boosting, so I'm guessing more people could use it too.

Fantasia IC gel with sparkle lites is my current fave. It's moisturizing without being greasy. I rake through a big glob then scrunch. Has no PVP; gels with PVP are too drying for me. That counts out a lot of gels!

Thanks, laurabeth, it's always good to know something similar! I *think* the Rusk Jel Gloss is the one that cdnwavy was raving about, wasn't it?

Hmm, I wonder where she's been - I haven't seen her around the boards in a while...

If anyone is interested, I have 4 unopened bottles of the discontinued Rusk Deepshine liquid gel up on the swap board (I thought I'd mention this since the product was brought up in this thread.) I *loved* this gel at first and stocked up-- it looked like it was going to be an HG for me-- but then I found out that my hair was extremely protein sensitive. If you don't have this problem I highly recommend it, even as a "temporary"" solution-- it worked much better on my fine 2b-3a hair than any other gel I've ever used.
