Default This seems backwards

I had been alternating days using Jessicurl HCC and Devacurl NoPoo as my cleanser, but read somewhere on these forums that as a wavy, I really didn't need to use HCC or NoPoo (or Low Poo for that matter) as often and should conditioner wash and then just wash with NoPoo or HCC only once or twice a week.

So I switched to CoWash (with Suave Milk and Honey) for several days, interspersed with HCC or NoPoo every fourth day. Instead of my hair feeling oilier with weighted down curls, my hair is more dryer with fewer curls and more frizz. What gives? Any ideas? Does it matter?

I have been doing this for a little over a week now. Should I give it more time or just scrap it and go back to HCC or NoPoo daily?

If your curls were doing better the way you were doing it before, then keep doing it that way. But the dryness, frizziness, could be from the protein in the Milk & Honey. Just a thought.

Yeah, I thought it might be either that or the cetyl alcohol in it, since HCC and NoPoo are both alchol free. I may try a different one of the Suaves to see whether it is the protein rather than the alcohol, since some of the other Suave Naturals don't have the protein.

I really like the Tropical Coconute and Mango&Peach.

The coconut one seems like something I would like, since I love, love, love the coconut Jessicurl scent.

Went back to Devacurl's NoPoo today, and darned if it isn't nice and springy again. Devacurl DOES have alcohol in it; so I suspect it is the protein. My leave-in has protein in it, and that amount seems okay. So it must be related to the amount of protein in the Suave Milk & Honey, because I am having a similar problem using Giovanni 50/50 Cond., which also has proteins but has no alcohol.

I will definitely try out one of the Suaves without protein to see how that works out. If it doesn't, I'll just be using NoPoo a whole lot more often than the recommended "dose." Thanks for your help. You guys are the greatest!

Glad you got the problem figured out! I love No-Poo and especially how it already starts to detangle my hair before even adding the One C! Together they make the best detangling duo.
