Okay guys... This is only a temporary fix for me, because I really want to try modified CG and to try using products that are less harsh. BUT I've found something that works relatively well for me FOR NOW (when I have a lot of time---which is rare). My hair doesn't magically turn into beautiful 3b curls or anything...I mean, I still have waves with some 3a mixed in when I do this, but it looks more consistant and holds well. Can't guarantee it'll work for everyone...it probably won't...but it's good for me...

NOT CG Friendly:
Shampoo and Condition with Regis Design Line Curl Lock
Immediately put FX Curls Up on Soaking Wet Hair (Scrunch it In)
Wait about 10-20 minutes scrunching occasionally with a microfiber towel
Spray all over with John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves
Start drying on low with a bowl diffuser - while scrunching at the same time
Spray all over with Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Spray Gel
Keep drying until mostly dry...adding more Garnier occassionally
Use a hot sock on the dryer for the underside of hair
Once hair dries, scrunch in some Gelebration
(My bottom layer is straighter...)
Use a triple barrel waver to make the underside blend in
