2Cs - wavy or curly

So other 2Cs that have a combo of wave and curl what are you aiming for? wavy or curly hair? I really want tidy, neat hair and I think it is the combo that makes it look messy.
Do you comb your hair when it's wet? I find when I do it's much more organized than when I don't comb it.
It's typical, though, isn't it for 2c's to have (some) spirals. That's what Fia's Typing System says, right?
How my hair curls depends on the weather, products etc. I just let it do its thing.

I also want tidy hair and the odd thing is that if I don't comb it it looks completely ungroomed. The frizz right on top of the canopy and on the sides sticks out while the rest either hangs flat or waves and curls. And it's not cute like CG's Accept Your Frizz philosophy, it looks extremely unkempt and messy. The front and sides are curly while the back is wavy and the underside is almost straight (or at least 2a) and I wish my hair would decide which one it wants to be! For a long time I had the kind of hair that would look ungroomed an hour after I had brushed it. Now with the new routine its sitting down better but I still have to fuss with it various times throughout the day. I roll the dice with my hair. It doesn't usually look the same from one day to the next, especially if I don't comb it.

I would love to have some of the glossy curls that the 3s and 4s have or some of the more uniform waves the other 2s have but sadly my hair doesn't seem to work that way.

2a/2b/2c i & ii. Very frizz prone in front, sides and canopy. Some spiral curls in front on good days. Mixed fine and medium thickness.
I don't really think I'm "aiming" for one or the other. What I'm aiming for is less frizz. I have found products that make me as frizz free as possible, but never actually free of frizz.

My hair is in no way uniform either, but I don't try to make it that way because then it just ends up looking stupid because I've tried too hard. It's a mess, but so am I so I guess it goes with me.

Frizz free is my ultimate goal and believe it or not, I'm most frizz free on day 3 or 4. Think it's because my natural oils keep it down or something.

Whatsercurl or any other wavy, how do you make it 3-4 days without washing? My scalp gets a little stinky by day three. And my hair looks terrible and i have to clip it up or put in a pony tail.

Do you use gel or mousse? I have read mousse is better for wavies. I have not used mousse since before becoming CG.

I think as your scalp becomes less dependent on sulfates it stops secreting as much oil. Not sure on the scientifc reasons for it. Just as an FYI - my mom goes 10-14 days without doing anything to her. She's a straightie, uses no products, flatness and frizz aren't an issue. I don't think I could ever go that long because I use product the first day and sometimes on day 2.

My hair used to look awful 2nd day also. The combination of the right products for me, the Hot Sock diffuser and pineappling are what have enabled me to have consistently good hair even when not re-wetting for days. I'm thinking the length of my hair might have something to do with it too.

I've tried a few mousse's (? is that plural) but prefer gel. Mousse doesn't seem to have enough hold for me.

Since 2cs seem to be somewhere between just wavy and really curly, I think that our hair is more unpredictable. Some days mine will be curlier, other days more wavy. Frizz should decrease as hair becomes healthier and/or with using the right products.

putting your hair up loosly on top of your head. Like flip it over, put in a scrunchy on top and viola. Pineapple.
I have 2c hair and a few 3a curls but not many. I think that before when I didn't use a comb on my hair it looked messy, and sometimes now it does if I don't do it just right. And some days its curlier.

I am also (I think) a long-suffering 2C. I hear you about the inconsistency frustration! I go for curly, most of the time, because I love curls and I just don't really know how to style waves.

But on the days it doesn't want to curl, this winds up looking kind of stupid. (Picture hair with stringy, producty pieces in it). In the past, what I would do about this was to rake my fingers through it in disgust, then rub conditioner through it (or hand lotion, or whatever I could get my hands on -- yes, I know this is bad!) This generally allowed me to be more or less wavy for the rest of the day.

But now I'm trying to learn from this website, and I like what these other folks are saying about working with what the hair wants to do from the start. Lately I've been finding that, if I rinse my hair upside-down in the shower, then don't comb it, but just shake it out a (lightly squeezing out extra water with a towel), then wait 5 minutes, I can kind of "see" what shape it's going to take. Then I try to go from there -- gel and scrunching if I want to curl, leave-in conditioner finger-combed through if I want waves.

But I'm new to all of this, and just switched away from sulfates and silicones, so who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Hope that helps!
I would love it if my hair would be more curly, but I'm happy if it isn't frizzy and looks somewhat uniform. I'm trying to accept it the way it is and let it do its own thing. Sometimes it's wavy and sometimes it's curly.

My hair has a tendency to be messy, so I cut it to chin-length (pics in my Fotki). I work in a professional field and my shoulder-length hair just looked untidy.
Loose botticelli curls and waves

I have 2C, it's only loosely wavey in the front, tighter wave in the back, and almost pin straight on the underside. Mostly, I just do my routine and hope for the best--I will never have spiral curls, and ultimately I like the waves. I hate it when it gets frizzy, of which I have a great tendency, and after 2-3 days of no washing or cowashing, all the waves fall out and my hair is kind of straight looking, but mostly frizzes out and looks even bigger/bushier, and gets in my way more. It stays straight if I brush it, put serum on it, and don't move, ever ha ha. At that point I just braid it neatly (which I do 90% of the time because I always wear my hair tied back at work. So in the end I guess I go for waves without the frizz.
Try an apple cider rinse to combat the frizzies. I do one once a week. I use one of those condiment bottles I bought at Walmart, add about 2tbsp vinegar and fill the rest of the bottle with warm water. Squeeze all over your head and let it sit for a couple of minute, rinse out and apply conditioner. It works on my frizzies for almost the whole week.

wavycurl40+: my hair does that producty thing too and the curls all fall out. Some thread I read earlier this week suggested not using product at all. I am trying to find that thread so I can try it out this weekend. I even broke down and went to get the Aubrey's Honeysuckle Rose conditioner.
Just saw Meg Ryan's hair in her new film and I want that!!!

So I need to try and drop the spirals into waves!
