curl pattern 2c/3a

I was a 2c/3a, but then i truly got my hair layered a;nd I dont know what to think of it now. I used to have tightish pipecurls that just started like 2 inches down my head and went to the bottom. Now, I have kinda ;big loose curls, no more pipe curls or ringlets or anything. I miss my old curls, but at the same time my new do is more functional. So, have any of you others had this kind of change happen? And does anyone know how to bring some of my old curl back?

I think part of the transformation was the gel I started using. It's more moisturizing (well, for some, I guess) and had a higher hold factor than some of my other gels. I have also found that the more moisture the gel tends to have (I live in an arid cimate, though), the better my waves are.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.
Maybe your layers were cut too short. 2c /3as need length to twist and swirl.
2C wavy with some spirals. CG since April 07. Medium texture and porosity.

when i look at pictures of my hair from 3 years ago, before I went cg, i had ringlets all over and my hair was halfway between shoulders and bra strap length. I had a really bad haircut last summer and ended up with shoulder length hair and poof, no more ringlets. Had a couple of trims and a haircut since and my hair hasnt reached the length that it was but im starting to notice the longer pieces starting to spiral on the bottoms.

I'm hoping with more length, comes more ringlets. This could be whats happening to you.
2b with some ringlets. Modified CG.

ya me too its wierd like i had long layers and it did what you were talking about in the beging but they were kind of wide for me and then i got shorter layers and the layers are kind of wavy and ugh! lol i mean i like it but i think im gonna stick with long layers next time lol hope i helped...a bit
My hair really needs the length to get the spirals. I just got a haircut last week and now I have more wavies and not so much spirals. Boo hoo. But once I get my length back I will have more spirals again. It is weird. When my hair is long it is super curly, nice ringlets, but cut it off and not so pretty any more.
