New 2C needs advice on her routine...

Okay, 2C's, here are some new pictures of my hair after using a clarifying shampoo today.

The routine was:
Matrix Essentials Alternate Action clarifying shampoo
Devacare No-Poo
Devacare One Condition

Then styled with:
AG Re:coil and Devacare ArcAngell

To my eyes, my hair looks a little less weighed down and product-y. I'm going to try switching to Low-Poo, which will hopefully help my hair feel less product-y. It could be my styling products too, so that will be my next step if the change to Low-Poo doesn't help.
2C, mixture of medium/coarse texture, with high porosity, normal elasticity, and high density (very thick)
my current routine is:
Jessicurl Hair Cleansing Cream
Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner
Redken Fresh Curls Curl Refiner
Jessicurl Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment
wash twice weekly, rinse with conditioner every other day, deep condition once a week, use demi-permanent hair color (ammonia-free), use hood dryer or air-dry

I'm sorry. I thought I had edited in the name of that cone. It's Amodimethicone and it is not water soluable. But, as DEL2C posted, for some people it doesn't cause buildup. So, it's one of those that you've just got to decide for yourself. I hate One-C. It does funky things to my hair.

Also.... and I was going to respond to something else and now I forgot. ACK!

Oh yea, producty feeling hair. That happens to me when I use Jessicurl. It looks OK, but feels icky. For me it's the mag sulfate. Sometimes I just suck it up and use it because I'm too lazy to swap and too poor to waste it. But yea, icky hair feeling for sure.

Finding what works for you is what's important. We all vary our routines a little and that's why we have a plethora of products to choose from and they keep coming out with new stuff!!! I don't think straight hair girls rush out to find the newest products I don't know why the curlies do. Must be a curse or something....Good Luck!!!!
As for me it's another day of waiting for my CK ugh.............................. this stuff better be worth the wait it's been 6 days!!! I tried the Astroglide like Kitara recommended as a sub since the ingredients are similar mostly water and glycerin, but I don't think I used enough cuz my 2nd day hair doesn't loook as good as when I just freshly did it. Oh well.....definitely less frizz though so I can't complain too much!

Seek not to change the world. Rather seek to change your mind about the world.
I think it looks better too.

As far as frizz goes, I would try giving up the Re:Coil once and see what happens. Or you might be a good candidate for Curl Keeper or the new miracle product, Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera gel.

And Kitara, WOW! I hadn't seen any pictures of your hair side by side to notice the difference. You look great! Like the new avatar too.
Loose botticelli curls and waves
No silicones/no sulfates since March 2008
Thanks, curlygirls!

I appreciate the input. Actually I'm going to try the Re:coil by itself sometime without ArcAngell. I've tried ArcAngell by itself and it's just too drying, although my stylist suggested mixing One Condition with ArcAngell, and that's probably a good one to try too. Re:coil is very heavy-takes forever to dry, but my hair tends to be less dry second day with it. My stylist also said you can buy a dryer at Sally's Beauty Supply ($50) like the ones you sit under at the salon. He recommends that over using a diffuser exclusively as it tends to create frizzies for us frizz-prone types. When he did my hair he mostly dried it under a salon dryer and then diffused the ends very briefly after that. The dryer might be nice for winter months, but I just try to air dry during the summer. Hope you get your CK soon, DEL2C!
