Wavy Makeover

I finally just got sick of my shoulder-length wavy 2c hair (with a 3a underlayer . . .) & bangs. So I chopped it short & got highlights!! I was so irritated with my wavy top layer I put it in a barette every day so my cute little 3a curls would show through, but I've had this style since high school (in between chopping it short & straightening it . . .). I thought if I did the cg routine long enough my entire mane would magically become more ringlet-like, but alas I'm a wavy . . . .
Anyway, I love my new do (largely successful b/c of a great stylist & hours logged on thehairstyler.com figuring out what styles actually looked good - although many styling instructions irritated me for wavies (i.e. blow dry straight & then use a curling iron all over . . . get out of here!) )
Post hair cut I've been gently diffusing to get some curl & take 2 min to straighten my bangs. If I have an "off" day when my waves get some personality, I use a curling iron & literally put in 6 curls & look fabulous (compared to before). I thought doing anything but completely natural would take more time or be "high maintence," but I've found my old routine of diffuse long hair, plop, add products & pray took longer & was more frustrating. So I love my new curling iron & tiny little bang straightener Just thought I'd say if wavy hair has personality we need more tools than a hair product on our side! (FYI the ID pic is of my new do, not the old long curls).

What's it look like? Do you have a picture? You just registered, chopped off your waves and we're not going to get to experience it?
I'm new at this so changed my profile pic my attempt at adding further pics didn't work b/c it exceeded the KB allowed, anyone else w/ this problem or have ideas on how to easily add pics

Summersage, when you say "tiny bang straightener," do you mean there is an actual appliance that just straightens bangs?

I have a mix of wavy and curly hair, but due to a bizarre cowlick/swirl in my bang area, I have to straighten them. (Otherwise, my side bangs curl in the wrong direction, towards the ear farthest from the bangs.)

I have often thought, hmm, wouldn't it be great if there was a little mini straightener that just does bangs? The other straighteners look very big and cumbersome for just a few inches of hair!

Please do tell more about the tiny bang straighter. Thank you!!
planetclaire, I used to have a 1/2in straightener from claire's. Can't say it ever did anything for my 3a hair XD, but it was not cumbersome at all, so yep, small straighteners do exist! They might be harder to find in the "really-good" brands or whatever. Like I said, claire's...cheap stuff. xD
I bought my boyfriend a 'ghd mini styler' last year, he kept stealing my ghd (original size one) to do his hair (hehe!)

The ghd mini is designed to be used on short hair, it has a 15mm plate, so yes it works on bangs. The original has a 24mm plate. He loves it and even says it's better than mine!

I know alot of brands now have also bought out mini straightners and I think there may even be a portable one (cordless?)
