My hair didn't like something I did...

So today I low pooed, conditioned, (using method by ice queen), plopped with a t-shirt, gelled, and pixiecurl diffused. The ends of my hair were nice and curly, but the roots were super frizzy....

What did I do wrong? I'm thinking I didn't get enough gel to my roots, but I don't know how to get it there without raking since my hair is shoulder length.

Also, I used HESMU and it was really sticky to the point where every time I scrunched my hair would stick to my hands. I think this added to the frizz...ugh!

Once again, any suggestions about where I might have gone wrong would be appreciated.

How long did you plop? Alot of us can only plop 5 or 10 min or else there's frizz. I suggest that tomorrow you use a little bit of your condish as a leave-in, then put your gel in, then plop 10 min max and pixiecurl. Product seems to like soaking wet hair better, it gets more evenly distributed, and you want to touch your hair as little as possible with your hands after you plop. After I plop I fix my part and clip my roots and don't touch it with my hands again until it's dry. Don't give up though...you'll figure out what your hair wants. It has been trial and error for all of us.

Thanks Jess...I only plopped for about 10 mins, but I applied gel after...I'm going to try no plopping tomorrow, just to see what happens, because I'm thinking it was either the plopping or the diffusing...

Try no plopping and just scrunching the excess moisture out with the t-shirt after you put your gel in. That's what I do in the summer. I only plop in the winter because I have so much hair and it takes too long to dry if I don't.

Yeah, I've given up plopping for now because it was giving me this tangly frizz thing. Diffusing does that sometimes, too, but plopping seemed worse. I did get great results with it for awhile, but I did best with fewer than 10 minutes -- more like 5.

I also rake some gel in before scrunching, for the reason you mentioned. I know others have used Denman brushes, etc, for product distribution.

It's totally trial and error -- you may just have to play with different variables.

Thanks for the advice...I just hate trying to figure it out before work! This morning was horrible, and I just had to suck it up and go to work anyway...reminds me of when I was in junior high and every day was a bad hair day

So today I low pooed, conditioned, (using method by ice queen),
could someone direct me to the post about the conditioning method? I searched for posts under her ID and there are too many to know which one is the relevant post.
frizzly-Here you go:

"I rake a large amt. of OneC through my hair in the shower, then flip over and scrunch it through until it feels like seaweed and squishes which gets the clumps going. It sits on my hair through the shower routine. I then rinse upside down in cool water and firmly scrunch in a small amt. of OneC"

I'm not using One C, but it seems to work for me anyway!

like the others have said I find that if I plop for too long i get a lot more frizz (as well as crazy stuff going on at the back!), if i've rushed my hair it gets more frizz and diffusing usually gives me a little more frizz too if I do it in a hurry!
