Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 2c
Texture: medium
Porosity: low
Density: thick

Characteristics:
Top layers are limp, slight waves and frizzy. Bottom layers are perfect 2c curls. (Currently damaged from being straightened all winter. Working on that!)

CG/ModCG/not CG: not CG, getting back into CG routine

Hair ingredient likes: moisture (duh!)
My hair LOVES the humid salt air beach weather. After a day on the beach I don't want to wash the texture is amazing.
Protein. Still figuring out how much it can stand.
Not sure what else, that's why I'm here! (:

Hair ingredient dislikes:
Hair dryers, POOF!!

Hard/Soft Water: Soft I think

HG/Go-to Products:
Trader Joe's Nourishing Cond
KCKT
HETTC

Average climate/dew points: I'm in Virginia. Dry in the winter. Crazy humid in the summer.

Fall/Winter combos:
Spring/Summer combos:

Favorite styling techniques and why:
Plopping for a half hour
Using natural fruit masks. (ex. banana & avocado, EVOO) Helped with that canopy of damaged hair on the top layer.

Techniques that didn’t work and why:
silicon shampoos really make my hair "poofy." Also, anything involving heat except flat ironing. The hair dryer, even diffusing really making my hair look like it needs to be in an 80's movie.

Hair Twins: Where are y'all, I need some twins!! )

This is a great thread!

I think of Spark People - fitness website where you can find workout buddies via a great database and search feature. Would be great to have that here! In the meantime - I'm fine texture, normal porosity and elasticity. I have 2c/3a curls and live in Iowa where humidity changes a lot throughout the year. Would love to find an exact hair twin!
3A/2C fine, normal porosity & elasticity, medium high density

Current products:
YTCucs Color Protection Low poo
GVP Conditioning Balm
Random gels - not sure which ones I like, if any at this point!

HG Summer Routine:
poo - TMW Hydrate
RO & LI - Darcy's Pumpkin Seed
Leave in Products: CHSCK & LALMG
PT - CJ RM
DT - EVCO

Currently trying to figure out a winter routine and transition to a less harsh "poo" for summer.
I cut my hair short about a year and a half ago (when my daughter was a few months old) and have not used much heat since then. My hair has changed, so I'm not sure about some of these things until it gets longer (currently about chin length, growing out).

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 2b/2c
Texture: fine
Porosity: low/med
Density: on the thin side
Elasticity: no idea
Characteristics: used to be red, now more brownish; not much frizz; curl pattern starts right at the tops of my ears, so the top tends to lie flatter and straighter; I can get some root curl with scrunching; the right side of my head is noticeably curlier and clumpier than the left

CG/ModCG/not CG: modified -- I don't use cones but do low poo rather than co-wash

Hair ingredient likes: protein, jojoba
Hair ingredient dislikes: aloe

Hard/Soft Water: no idea

HG/Go-to Products: GVP CB, Aubrey Organics honeysuckle rose, KCCC, LALSG

Average climate/dew points: humid, but variable dews (single digits in winter, 60s and 70s in summer)

Fall/Winter combos: don't know yet
Spring/Summer combos: still experimenting

Favorite styling techniques and why: scrunching, because it evens out my uneven curl pattern; clipping roots for volume; diffusing the roots only for about 5 minutes and then letting hair air dry the rest of the way
Techniques that didnít work and why: raking kills my curls, plopping is OK but not for more than a few minutes or else the top looks funky

Hair Twins: don't know yet!
Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 3b with a few 3c sprinkled in
Texture: fine
Porosity: normal
Density: medium to high (I have a TON of hair!!!!)
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: root curl especially if products aren't raked in, frizzy canopy, less frizz and more defined curls underneath, "s" curls art of the way down and ends are spirals

CG/ModCG/not CG: CG

Hair ingredient likes: protein, moisture, I think humectants
Hair ingredient dislikes: not sure yet, possibly polyquats

Hard/Soft Water: medium? I live in the city but I don't think it's too hard but it definitely isn't soft like when I'm at my cottage

HG/Go-to Products: Biolage CB, KCCC, TN moisture, KCKT, 50:50

Average climate/dew points: low dews in winter and high dews in summer, just starting to get to the high ones now

Fall/Winter combos: minimal hold, last winter I was just using a curl cream
Spring/Summer combos: still experimenting but am liking, KCCC and KCKT

Favorite styling techniques and why: raking in products and then scrunch-and-pump the lower half of my length upright (if I scrunch upside down or too vigorously it causes frizz on my curls themselves and horrible canopy frizz), the less I touch my canopy the better, scrunch out excess water with microfibre towel and clip sections
Techniques that didn’t work and why: scrunching upside down (too much frizz and products not distributed), plopping for too long (wonky curls, dang fine hair), clipping roots (looks weird, wayy too much root volume, I prefer clipping sections)

Hair Twins: don't know yet but possibly domino, and lcl0706
3B, fine texture, normal porosity, normal elasticity

Starting CG over beginning June 2013

Co-Wash: Treseme Naturals
Cleanse: Waiting on DB and CJDF
Rinse out: Biolage CB, Yes to Carrots, Giovanni 50:50
LI: Treseme Naturals, Yes to Carrots
Stylers: KCCC
PT: IAgirl's PT

No: Polyquats, BTMS in leave-ins/stylers
Yes: Protein, ACV, Oils

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: My waves seemed to loosen from 2B/C to 2A when I went CG and got a big chop.
Texture: fine
Porosity: high
Density: thick
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: flat top/no root curl, highlighted, waves go limp throughout the day (if I style them 2bish they revert to 2a), canopy is problem area

CG/ModCG/not CG: CG

Hair ingredient likes: any and all protein, panthenol, cetyl esters
Hair ingredient dislikes: not sure

Hard/Soft Water: hard

HG/Go-to Products: suave coconut, KCCC, deva angel, joico kpak

Average climate/dew points: dry... Not sure of dews.

Fall/Winter combos: too new to know
Spring/Summer combos: see above

Favorite styling techniques and why: scrunch and pump for clumps!
Techniques that didnít work and why: too much scrunching (frizz), upside down rinsing/styling (wonky roots)

Hair Twins:
2A/B. Mix of fine, medium, and coarse (mostly medium). Dense. Mix of normal and high porosity.
Dry climate.

Curl Pattern: 2B/C
Texture: Coarse. Feels like a horse's mane!
Porosity: Medium
Density: Thick, thick, THICK!
Elasticity: Medium
Characteristics: Reddish dark blonde. Bra-length. Curls start mostly around my eyes, but 2 strange Shirley Temple curls from the root in the front.

CG/ModCG/not CG: Not CG. Tried no-poo, but my hair got worse!

Hair ingredient likes: Sulfates & Silicone! When I tried CG, my curls pretty much died, and the coarseness was unbearable. Loves Argan Oil.

Hair ingredient dislikes: Heat Styling. (Instant Split-Ends!) Dye. (Hair falls out!) Organix Brand products, ANY hairspray.

Hard/Soft Water: Hard.

HG/Go-to Products: Herbal Essences Smooth Collection shampoo & Conditioner, Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Nutrient Spray, Hot Buns overnight.

Average climate/dew points: Central NY crazy weather! Summer & Spring high heat and Humidity, Fall & Winter frigid cold and dry as a bone.

Fall/Winter combos: Hot buns & dryer sheets! (Smoothing dryer sheets over the hair kills the static caused by extremely low humidity.)

Spring/Summer combos: Hot Buns & Triple Nutrition.

Favorite styling techniques and why: I condition daily, but only shampoo twice a week. I allow my hair to air dry after a nightly shower, then put it into a Hot Bun, lightly misting with Triple Nutrition. Let hair down in the morning, perfect hair!

Techniques that didn’t work and why: CG method. No clue why it didn't work, but my hair was an absolute mess.

Hair Twins: uh... Michael Cera. His hair is thick, coarse, wavy, and weird like mine. I wish it could have been someone more fabulous, or at least female... but i suppose the truth hurts :P

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: mostly 2b, some 2c in the front/nape
Texture: fine
Porosity: low-normal
Density: medium
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: flat top/no root curl, easy to straighten but doesn't stay straight if that makes sense, I have trouble with definition vs. volume, can get overconditioned easily; must stay away from humectant-heavy products

CG/ModCG/not CG: CG but I won't trip over a cone. I low-poo regularly.

Hair ingredient likes: protein in all shapes and sizes, coconut oil DTs
Hair ingredient dislikes: glycerin in high dews, humectant-heavy products in general, heavy products that are difficult to absorb

Hard/Soft Water: soft

HG/Go-to Products: I like FSG. I usually use a protein-packed RO. I haven't found my HG LI or stylers, though I have gotten good but inconsistent results from FSG, SS CEJ, Volumax Mega Gel, Giovanni LA Natural Firm Hold Gel and conditioner-only styling. I haven't found my wavy groove yet... something that gives me consistently awesome results and is fairly easy to do. IAgirl's gelatin PT may be an HG though. I've also tried lots of low-poos and really like YesToCucumbers, BROO IPA, and Giovanni Don't Be Flakey! (for dandruff/SD)

Average climate/dew points: tropical climate = always always humid, hot, rainy with very high dews

Fall/Winter combos: one season
Spring/Summer combos: ^

Favorite styling techniques and why: still figuring this out
Techniques that didnít work and why:

Hair Twins: ?
2BC/f/II. fine - low/normal porosity - medium density - normal elasticity.

Currently using:
Cowash: Cure Care diluted with water 1:1
RO: Cure Care, V05 Kiwi Lime
Styler: UFD CM (old formula), FSG + CNPF
PT: IAgirl's gelatine

Experimenting with: CeraVe Foaming as low-poo, gelatin gel

light moisture, hydrolized protein, jelly stylers
guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, sulfates
Neutral on cones.

iherb discount code: CFN646
Hair Biography:

Curl Pattern: 3a mostly
Texture: medium
Porosity: little bit of all in different sections, but probably medium all around
Density: low end of medium, definitely thinner than it used to be
Elasticity: low
Characteristics: pretty easy to manipulate. Lots of root curl if I diffuse upside down, some if I air dry. Easy to straighten, holds styles easily either curly or straight. Prone to canopy frizz and lots of volume. Easily weighed down by products.

CG/ModCG/not CG: I really try to full CG, but fall off the wagon sometimes and go modCG

Hair ingredient likes: protein, coconut oil for DT
Hair ingredient dislikes: heavy products or oils as leave-ins

Hard/Soft Water: very hard water

HG/Go-to Products: Coconut oil DT, Tresemme Naturals RO and LI, KCKT/KCCC combo

Average climate/dew points: warm and humid in summer, cold and dry in winter

Fall/Winter combos: still playing around
Spring/Summer combos: TN, KCKT, KCCC, HETT gel

Favorite styling techniques and why: scrunch dry with t-shirt then turban for 5 min, diffuse - at least my scalp, I HATE a wet scalp
Techniques that didn’t work and why: Plopping - makes my roots curl really wonky. Clipping - always get clip marks.
Other Technique comments: Super Soaker makes huge clumps but low volume. Diffusing upside down makes huge volume but some frizz. I'm trying to find a way to still get good clumps after raking in products on soaking hair. I need to rake for product distribution. I want volumized clumps.

Hair Twins: still searching
