Curl Pattern: 2c i think.
Texture: Medium
Porosity: no ideaaa
Density: medium
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: no root curl, some waves, some spirals
CG/ModCG/not CG: ModCG - I use PEG modified 'cones in my gel, but otherwise i'm CG so far. I've only been doing if for a couple weeks now. usually i straighten my side bangs or pin them back.

Hair ingredient likes: experimenting still (:
Hair ingredient dislikes: ^

Hard/Soft Water: Soft!

HG/Go-to Products: experimenting still

Average climate/dew points: ohio weather :/

Fall/Winter combos: haven't been CG in winter
Spring/Summer combos: now trying Suave Naturals coconut co-wash with Garnier triple nutrition 3 min undo rinse out, tresemme gel.

Favorite styling techniques and why: so far super soaker with plopping because it reduces my hair drying time, and promotes more curls/clumps. It does cause some frizz, so i might be trying new methods soon.
Techniques that didn’t work and why: haven't tried many yet

Hair Twins: possibly rachelilly??
hair type: 2b-3a

I fell off the CG wagon for 2 years, and have been growing out my hair but still straightening it. I'm going to try to hop back on this year and hopefully stick with it!

Old CG regimen:
co-wash: Suave Naturals coconut
rinse out: Garnier triple nutrition 3 min undo
gel: Tresemme bouncy curls

I'm not sure about all this yet. Still learning!

Curl Pattern: Pretty varied, mostly 2b-c...I think.
Texture: medium
Porosity: normal through most of my head but the top layer, especially near the front, seems to have low porosity
Density: medium-thick (my hair is short, so I have trouble testing it!)
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: very little curl in underneath layer, especially in back. Sides and front of hair are much curlier!

CG/ModCG/not CG: trying mod CG - a couple low-poos a week.

Hair ingredient likes: I haven't figured it out yet
Hair ingredient dislikes: I haven't figured it out yet

Hard/Soft Water: normal

HG/Go-to Products: Suave conditioners, Burts Bees Shampoo...other than that, still experimenting.

Average climate/dew points: Chicago, so pretty messed up weather - frigid winters with tons of percipitation (but still somehow dry air) and hot & humid summers

Fall/Winter combos: I have been wearing it straight in the winter since I can't figure out how to help my waves survive a winter hat!

Spring/Summer combos: I'll let you know...

Favorite styling techniques and why: I need to clip the top or it gets flat, then air dry for awhile then diffuse.

Techniques that didnít work and why: Air drying looks ridiculous on me. My curl pattern is not evenly distributed over my head and if I let nature do it's thing, it looks like a bad joke with an almost straight back and wavy sides with spirals next to my face.

Hair Twins: I don't know everyone yet. From reading hear, does anyone think they might be hair twins with me?
Curl Pattern: 2a?
Texture: fine
Porosity: ?
Density: thick
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: flat top/no root curl, easy to straighten but hard to keep it straight!

CG/ModCG/not CG: CG

Hair ingredient likes: still investigating
Hair ingredient dislikes: still investigating

Hard/Soft Water: ?

HG/Go-to Products: Still investigating

Average climate/dew points: 15 currently (early autumn)

Favorite styling techniques and why: Plop or air dry - no frizz!
Techniques that didnít work and why: Haven't done much testing

Hair Twins: Not sure, still learning about my own hair

Wavy/2a/2b? Fine but Lots of It
My Routine: Wet hair, cover with Inecto Pure Coconut Oil Condish, add Karpati lo-poo to scalp and rub to wash, rinse all out. Cover again with Inecto Pure Coconut Oil Condish, wash body/face, comb hair, rinse out condish. Rinse hair with cold water, squeeze out excess. Spray with leave-in condish, comb again and then plop. Diffuse for 5 minutes all over and et voila - perfecto.

Hair much healthier and shinier!

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 2c-3a, with some 2b pieces underneath.
Texture: fine
Porosity: high on highlighted canopy, medium underneath
Density: thin, but with a decent amount of volume
Elasticity: Don't know.
Characteristics: S-curvy mostly, with a few spirals and double-helix spirals. Curlier around my face. Root curl easily achieved. Hard hold gel is a must to hold my curl pattern, but after it's dry and set, I can touch it all day and it sproings back up.

CG/ModCG/not CG: Mod CG. I am okay with water soluble cones, and I still use hairspray. I blow dry fairly regularly with a round brush, for variety.

Hair ingredient likes: K-Pak, Aloe, Glycerin, Flax, Butters, Sea Salt (I think)

Hair ingredient dislikes: Hydrolyzed wheat protein

Hard/Soft Water: Not sure.

HG/Go-to Products: CCCC Lite, SS CEJ, LALSG, JC N&S

Average climate/dew points: humid, crazy Texas-style humidity

Fall/Winter combos: Too new to know the diff.
Spring/Summer combos: See above.

Favorite styling techniques and why: The Icequeen "Seaweed" conditioner technique, scrunching in products on soaking wet hair, scrunching with MF towel instead of plopping, SuperSoaker with certain products, K-Pak as final rinse-out, Pixiecurl diffusing, clipping

Techniques that didnít work and why: Diffusing upside down (I can't seem to get the hair onto the bowl that way, and can't see what I'm doing), plopping (gave me straight underlayers), Icequeen method (made the back tangly), raking (doesn't give me the clumps I want)

Hair Twins: Runnerchicki's bio sounds a lot like mine, but my wave pattern is more similar to LauraLee's. I don't think I've found an exact hair twin, though.
2c/3a with 2b underlayer. Fine, porous. Loves protein. But not hydrolized wheat protein. Yuck.

Wash: WEN Sweet Almond Mint or Pomegranate

Characteristics:
tends to frizz and swell in humidity; likes winter best. has great memory (curl retention) gets 2nd and 3rd day...
CG/ModCG/not CG: Full CG

Hair ingredient likes
: FSG, behen-meth
Hair ingredient dislikes: Amodimeth, Glycerin, even PEG mod cones

Average climate/dew points: humid or dry then typical dews;
I live on the East coast so i get it all.

Fall/Winter combos:
CJ leave in, BBFSG
Spring/Summer combos:CJSG, CJ leave in, BBFSG

Favorite styling techniques and why
: SSM - Because it works every time! I get the clumps I desire, frizz free with definition and volume control.

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 2b-c
Texture: fine
Porosity: normal
Density: thin to medium
Elasticity: low
Characteristics: S-curvy mostly. Gets weighed down easily. (Gets curly and frizzy when the humidity is high). My hair dries very quickly and is easy to straighten.

CG/Mod CG/not CG: Mod CG. I am okay with sulfates and cones occasionally. I blow-dry sometimes.

Hair ingredient likes: Silk Amino Acids, lavender oil

Hair ingredient dislikes: too much glycerin, castor oil, or polymers (polyquats) weigh my hair down

Hard/Soft Water: Hard (well-water)

HG/Go-to Products: Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner, GFTN, Curl Junkie Smoothing Gellie, DevaCurl Set It Free Spray, Garnier Fructis Wonder Waves Spray, homemade lavender mist, Hand Dry Hair Gloves

Average climate/dew points: Humid in the late spring/summer, dry in the fall/winter (four seasons)

Fall/Winter combos: usually low-poo, conditioner, leave-in, gel

Spring/Summer combos: usually low-poo, conditioner, leave-in, spray gel. Sometimes I just spray in GF Wonder Waves spray and scrunch. I like to refresh with lavender mist during the day.

Favorite styling techniques and why:
One of these 3 methods:

1. scrunch using Hand Dry Hair Gloves (similar to a microfiber towel) until about 75% dry, then air-dry.
2. scrunch a few times with my hands, then Pixie Curl Diffuse until about 75% dry, then air-dry.
3. scrunch a few times with my hands, then air-dry.

I always blow-dry my bangs out.

Techniques that didn’t work and why: Regular diffusing tends to make my hair frizz. Plopping gives me less-defined curls. Super soaker method gives me tighter curls, which I don't like on me.

Hair Twins: Anyone with similar hair?
Hair Type - wavy/curly, fine texture, thin/medium density

Last edited by anniemae; 02-20-2011 at 05:19 AM.
Curl Pattern: 2c, maybe.. some 3a sometimes..
Texture: fine, medium, coarse-- seem to have a mixture
Porosity:med perhaps, not sure, got some highlighted parts that prob are more porous.
Density: v thick
Elasticity: low-- not sure, snaps easily.
Characteristics: very dense, tends to puffs and frizzes, tons of volume, don't often get tangles

CG

Hair ingredient likes: FSG, ACV rinses
Hair ingredient dislikes: soap bars, FOTE KCCC, being OC'd

Hard/Soft Water: Hard I think, FL water, but put a shower filter in : Sprite slim line.

HG/Go-to Products: FSG!, CCClite for 2nd day hair

Average climate/dew points: humid FL weather

Fall/Winter combos: FSG
Spring/Summer combos: FSG with BRHG or some gel to hold

Favorite styling techniques and why: rake, plop airdry. Diffuse on low while scrunching for 3a curls!
Techniques that didnít work and why: plopping all the way- cos of my cowlicks in the front they go out of control!
Denman seems to flatten too much, so though i love super soaker to get rid of frizz i just rake instead of denman.

Hair Twins: let me know...
Here is a pic from yesterday, FSG only in hair bit on the frizzy side as you can see

Favorite styling techniques and why: scrunching and then diffusing 100% (encourages curl pattern and gives volume); mod super soaker (encourages clumps); parting in the middle, styling, and then making a new part (adds much-needed volume)
Techniques that didnít work and why: plopping (hair too short), clipping (I don't know why! ), icequeen (sooo many tangles and no clumps), combing product through hair (goodbye clumps and waves), air drying (no volume, and I end up putting it up)

Elasticity: low
Characteristics: flat top/no root curl, easy to straighten, easily weighed down, doesn't frizz often, tangles easy, likes moisture but is quick to get over conditioned.

ModCG: low-poo and rarely cowash anymore because my hair gets weighed down so easily. Would like to get CJ daily fix to try though.

Hair ingredient likes: protein, silk amino acids, jojoba oil
Hair ingredient dislikes: mineral oil, coconut oil

Soft Water

HG/Go-to Products: Redken Soft Spin 05, LOOB, re:coil

Average climate/dew points: dry, thinking low dews

Fall/Winter combos: Didn't really find a great winter combo, hopefully I'll have better luck next winter

Spring/Summer combos: re:coil, LOOB, and redken soft spin scrunched on top!

Favorite styling techniques and why: Scrunching out water and then adding gel after my hair is no longer soaking wet. This seems to encourage the natural wave first, and then the gel holds it without weighing it down. Diffusing is one of the best ways for my hair to get body and hold wave, although I try not to do it very often.

Techniques that didn’t work and why: Ice queen, tons of tangles and my hair was clumping oddly! It was awful! Plopping tends to cause flat root, although I still do it at times hoping I can find a way to modify it to make it work since I like the way it encourages my natural wave.
