*January- at chin
*March- around collarbone
Curl Pattern: Mostly 2c I think with 3a and 3b
Texture: medium
Porosity: high
Density: thick
Elasticity: low (i think)
Characteristics: Basically a mixture of a lot of hair types.. my curls range from 2c - 3b.. with mostly 2c. It's also less curly in the back towards the top to middle of my hair but I think that's due to not applying product thoroughly to the back of my hair. My roots are also pretty much straight for about an inch. Also very frizzy, I pretty much always have frizz no matter what haha.

CG/ModCG/not CG: Mostly CG. I will low-poo to clarify my hair once in a while.

Hair ingredient likes: Not sure
Hair ingredient dislikes: magnesium sulfate

Hard/Soft Water: I don't think it makes a difference for me.

HG/Go-to Products: So far.. LA looks sports gel.

Average climate/dew points: I have no idea about dew points and such, since I don't pay attention to them. But the climate here is basically just dry and warm I guess.

Fall/Winter combos: none
Spring/Summer combos: none

Favorite styling techniques and why: diffusing, pineappling

Techniques that didn’t work and why: plopping, but I only tried it once. So it might work for me again if I tried it again, but it just seemed to make my curls look weird.

Hair Twins: Shakira is pretty close! haha

Curl Pattern: mostly 2a with 2b around the face.
Texture: fine,fine, fine
Porosity: high
Density: thin
Elasticity: Not sure
Characteristics: easily weighed down, flat/straight at the back of the crown, relatively short (chin length in front, a little longer in back)

CG/ModCG/not CG: Modified CG, in the sense of no 'cones, parabens, sulfates. I still use baking soda/vinegar for a cleanser every week or 10 days but now follow it up with a cg conditioner.

Hair ingredient likes: aloe, protein
Hair ingredient dislikes: not so much my hair, but me, I'm allergic to wheat/gluten. Also maybe PVP.

Hard/Soft Water: hard

HG/Go-to Products: DE coconut conditioner, fragrance-free conditioner, aloe gel, IAGirl's gelatin PT

Average climate/dew points: varies widely, with cold, low dew winters and very humid/high dew summers.

Fall/Winter combos: I'm not that sophisticated (yet)!
Spring/Summer combos:

Favorite styling techniques and why: short (5-10 min) plop
Techniques that didn’t work and why: long plop (short hair, easily molded into weird, mooshed shapes), spritz 'n condish (overmoisturized)

Hair Twins: Maybe plunkybug? She's a little curlier, but the overall look of the hair is similar.
2a/2b, fine and thin

Hair ingredient likes: MOISTURE MOISTURE MOISTURE ALOE! CUCUMBERS!
Hair ingredient dislikes: Keratin, Paul Mitchell Shampoos and Conditioners

Hard/Soft Water: Soft. I grew up in KY with our own personal well, we have very hard water. I think that is partly the cause of my reddish hair.

HG/Go-to Products: Tresemme Frizz Creme, Bed Head Ego Boost

Curl Pattern: 2c
Texture: coarse
Porosity: med (I'm assuming, since I haven't observed either extreme)
Density: thick
Elasticity: high
Characteristics: flat top/no root curl, heavy and lots of it, very prone to "poofing", prone to frizz

CG/ModCG/not CG: ModCG

Hair ingredient likes: haven't noticed anything specific yet
Hair ingredient dislikes: certain alcohols (especially in conditioners)

Hard/Soft Water: neither

HG/Go-to Products: BRHG, HE SMU, LOOB, TIGI MM GTTT shampoo

Average climate/dew points: varies from day to day/season to season(Ontario, Canada)

Fall/Winter combos: I get lazy because of school and usually just wear it up with LOOB, bioterra gel or HE SMU (trying to change that this year)
Spring/Summer combos: LOOB/Homemade jojoba gel, HE SMU and BRHG

Favorite styling techniques and why: putting on product in sections (only way to get all of my hair covered) and pixie-curl diffusing (more curl and quicker drying time)
Techniques that didn’t work and why: any upside down-rinsing (gave me skin breakouts and have shied away every since) and scrunching in product (too much hair)

Hair Twins: don't know of any yet

Porosity: medium
Density: thin
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: easily weighed down, easily flattened, holds henna well

CG/ModCG/not CG: Mod CG (I try to be 'cone and SLS free and have for years, but sometimes I slip )

Hair ingredient likes: Henna for sure. Protein, I think. Sea salt for sure!
Hair ingredient dislikes: still trying to figure this out, I'm thinking 'cones and oil

Hard/Soft Water: hard

HG/Go-to Products: Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee (BRHG-see? It even has HG in the name!)
John Masters Organic Sea Mist (I use this as a hair spray, a curl refresher, a curl enhancer, everything! The only thing it doesn't do for me is the dishes, but that's what kids are for, right?)

Average climate/dew points: dry My hair loves high dew points!

Fall/Winter combos: the seasons don't change enough for me to switch out
Spring/Summer combos: the seasons don't change enough for me to switch out

Favorite styling techniques and why: Combing conditioner through in the shower was something that worked great for me, and squishing and pumping works very well, too. And I've finally learned how to difuse! I tend to do that only on cool, though.
Techniques that didnít work and why: Plopping tends to give me squished curls with a flat top

Hair Twins: PM me if you think we're twins!

Hair: Very fine, normal porous (Finally! Yay!), normal elasticity, loves high dew points.
Daily: Nature's Gate Tea Tree shampoo, GVP CB, Cure Care conditioner, aloe vera gel, Jessicurls products, Spiral Solutions products.

Curl Pattern: 2a/2b

Porosity: med
Density: thin
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: flat top/no root curl, easily weighed down, weak wave pattern

CG/ModCG/not CG: mod CG

Hair ingredient likes: protein
Hair ingredient dislikes: heavy emollients

Hard/Soft Water: Don't even know what this means I'm assuming like well water vs normal. My water is not well water.

HG/Go-to Products: FSG, Jessicurl Gelebration Spray, Curl Junkie Coffee Coco Curl Creme Lite

Average climate/dew points: Unsure really. Michigan weather changes every minute :/

Fall/Winter combos: Unsure yet; recent to CG method
Spring/Summer combos: Unsure yet; recent to CG method

Favorite styling techniques and why: SuperSoaker method - the only way I have gotten clumps so far. Plopping - makes my waves curlier sometimes.
Techniques that didnít work and why: SMasters made my hair frizzy to use KCCC when my hair was partially dry. Clipping- the clips are too heavy for my thin hair.

Hair Twins:
Unsure but looking for some!
Curl Pattern: 2a
Texture: medium-fine
Porosity: normal
Density: medium
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: Get decent root curl when I diffuse upside down, straightening is a so-so endeavor for me, easily weighed down so I gotta watch my roots

CG/ModCG/not CG: I stay as close to CG as possible. No cones or sulfates.

Hair ingredient likes: Protein on occasion. not sure what else yet. Have only been at it for 4 months.
Hair ingredient dislikes: Still working on this. My scalp hates wheat protein though. It burns! Also, according to my hair analysis, I should avoid heavy emollients.

Hard/Soft Water: Hard for sure.

HG/Go-to Products: DevaCare low-poo, DevaCare One Condition, ArcAngel (it has wheat in it, but I keep it off my scalp and it seems to be ok. Might be switching to BRHG when this runs out), AG Re:Coil, Spiral Solutions protein spray (on occasion).

Average climate/dew points: Super cold dry winters and hot and humid summers. I'm in Nebraska!

Fall/Winter combos: none yet
Spring/Summer combos: none yet

Favorite styling techniques and why: Pixie diffusing upside down helps lock in my wave before gravity and life kills it. Applying product to wet hair before towel scrunching helps with clumping and wave formation. Have been trying out the ice queen method. Have only tried it twice though, so no official rah rahs for it yet. So far so good though!
Techniques that didnít work and why: Plopping seems to weigh down my roots really bad. Also gives me funny kinks. I think my hair may be too fine for that method. Same with pineappling at night. I cannot seem to find a way to preserve my waves for day 2 or day 3.

Protein: Spiral Solutions Protein Spray for daily use
Curl Pattern: 2a/b [2a-Fi]
Texture: very fine
Porosity: low (but demi-dyed)
Density: medium
Elasticity: normal to high
Characteristics: flat top/no root curl, easily weighed down, doesn't hold curl well, and it must be encouraged. Scrunching is a must, but it causes some frizz. Must low-poo every other day because low-porosity doesn't allow for hair to absorb scalp oils.

CG/ModCG/not CG: Modified since 2010. Low-poo every other day. All other products are CG-approved.

Hair ingredient likes: ??
Hair ingredient dislikes: ?? Heavy oils

Hard/Soft Water: Soft, city water.

HG/Go-to Products: I regularly use Garnier Fructise Triple Nutrition Conditioner and Suave Naturals Coconut Conditioner. I have no HG products yet.

Products that didn't work for me: Kinky-Curly Spiral Spritz. Curls - Goddess Curls. Neither gave me any hold, and they weighed down my hair.

Average climate/dew points: Humid spring and fall. Dry mid-summer. Dry mid-winter. Lots of fluctuation from day to day, and even between morning and afternoon. Metro Detroit

Favorite styling techniques and why:
Air-dry or diffuser, with mousse. I find that styling products that don't dry crunchy don't seem to hold my wave. I need to dry with a wet-look and the SOTC (without additional products), or so it seems.

To wash, I am currently using L'oreal Sulfate-free shampoo, watered-down in a foaming hand-soap pump dispenser. I use 5-10 pumps of foam to wash my hair.

Techniques that didnít work and why: no-poo/co-wash. My scalp produces too much oil to go more than 2.5 days without any detergent.

Hair Twins: I'm looking for a hair twin to be my CG big sister. I need product advice. I'm overwhelmed by the variety of products and I figure my hair twins can save me some time and money. Where are you?
CG since 5/2010 Intro

Curl Pattern: 2C/3A
Texture: fine
Porosity: high
Density: thin
Elasticity: normal?
Characteristics: underlayer much curlier than top, lots of root curl, persistent canopy frizz, pretty agreeable to almost every ingredient, has a lot of bounce and shine, canopy and front layers still damaged and weak, has a mix of curls and some kinks

CG/ModCG/not CG: Mod-CG

Hair ingredient likes: PROTEIN
Hair ingredient dislikes: Mineral oil, wax, heavy silicones, on the fence about glycerin

Hard/Soft Water: Very hard. As in, liquid chalk. Whole periodic table floating in there.

HG/Go-to Products: SM Curling Souffle, Giovanni TTTT shampoo, ION Effective Care as a rinse out, HETT mousse, SCC or Got2B Kinkier spray gels, Jessicurl Rockin Ringlets, HETT gel, La Bella Lots of Curls gel

Average climate/dew points: humid. Typical dews 40-70+, gets worse in the summer. Last week we saw a dewpoint of 75 already.

Fall/Winter combos: CJCR as a DT on the rare occasion dews drop below average if we hit a really cold snap.
Spring/Summer combos: less DT's. Can't really say more protein because I crave it year round.

Favorite styling techniques and why: Super Soaker lite, just enough to reform clumps. Must fine tooth comb product through for distribution, then SS Lite and Scrunch-n-pump to get the curls going. Plop for 10 mins and then must immediately diffuse until almost 100% dry, too much water weighs down my curls really fast.

Techniques that didn’t work and why: only scrunching product in. I have to rake and comb or I cant seem to get it distributed. Overnight plopping/pineappleing/wrapping - basically any attempt to preserve curls overnight. Doesn't work because my hair is too fine and it will take on the shape of whatever technique I'm trying. Spritzing gives me frizz. It's gotta be either all wet or nothing.

Hair Twins: Marci

Elasticity: normal/high
Characteristics:Flat on top for the most part. Funny root curl on one side of my head, one spot that barely waves at all on the other. Canopy is easily weighted down.

Hair ingredient likes: oils, aloe, mag sulfate,
Hair ingredient dislikes: glycerin

Hard/Soft Water: hard i believe

Average climate/dew points: Dry, dew points are typically low

Fall/Winter combos:
still figuring it out
Spring/Summer combos: still figuring it out

Favorite styling techniques and why: Plopping seems to help with not pulling out the curls while drying. Raking in products to distribute well is a must. Lots of scrunching!
Techniques that didn’t work and why: I've tried to diffuse a few times and didn't like it

Hair Twins: new to this so I'm still searching!
Hair: 2b/2c, normal porosity, medium texture, medium density, good elasticity

Co-wash: Tresseme naturals
Condish: TS
Gel: FSG

2ND day:

Curl Pattern: mostly 3a with a little 2c?
Texture: medium
Porosity: medium
Density:medium
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: my hair is mostly 3a but some 2c on one side. My hair can take most heavier products without problems. I live in a very dry climate. I don't do DT/PT often because my hair is in pretty good shape. I co wash, low poo (every once ina while) and use shampoo bars with success. I need hold or my curls will be waves by the end of the day. Every rarely do I get second day hair. I wear my hair up 98% of the time. My hair is past waist length with tapered ends.

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 2c/3a
Texture: fine
Porosity: normal
Density: medium - thick (my ponytail is exactly 4" around - so according to fia I'm at the high end of normal)
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: good root curl on the sides, but not on top, hard to straighten (would have to use a flat iron - if I try to do a blow-out, I end up with a huge, poofy, frizzy mess). Curlier on the sides (3a bordering on 3b) but the rest is more like 2c-3a *with some 2b on the very underlayer). I have good spirals, but they are very elongated (only get about 2-3" of shrinkage). My hair tends to get curlier when it's longer, and frizzes easily. It holds its curl well without needing a hard hold gel (although the curls do loosen on days I don't wash and re-style), but can get weighed down.

CG/ModCG/not CG: CG

Hair ingredient likes: oils (haven't found one I didn't like), honey, botanicals, FSG, jelly products, natural/simple products, silk protein (slowly adding back other types of proteins now that I have a good moisture balance)

Hair ingredient dislikes: magnesium sulfate (too drying), glycerin/humectants too high up the list, too many chemical ingredients, hard gold gels.

Hard/Soft Water: hard

HG/Go-to Products: Too many to name! Like to keep a fully loaded arsenal and rotate, but right now my favorites are TN moisture, any Darcy's Botanicals product, Botanical Spirits stretch curls gelee, CK satin roots LI
Average climate/dew points: dry climate (Colorado). Low dews most of the year, moderate in the summer.
Fall/Winter combos: same as spring/summer - maybe add a little more moisture and avoid glycerin/humectants (but I do that most of the time anyway).
Spring/Summer combos: right now, loving CJDF, GVP CB for RO, CK LI, BS gelee, and DB curl styling creme for sealing ends.

Favorite styling techniques and why: raking/combing products into soaking wet hair (distributes better for me), super soaker (to reform clumps), scrunch and pump with head upside down (encourage curls/root curl), sealing ends with a product rich in oil/butters, plopping for a short time (shortens dry time), and pineapple at night.
Techniques that didnít work and why: plopping too long (derforms curls), applying products to damp hair (messes up my curls and caues frizz).

Hair Twins: haven't found any yet
2c/3a, botticelli/wavy/'swavy (huh?)
fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 2b, 2c
Texture: fine
Porosity: med
Density: medium
Elasticity: low
Characteristics: My hair is really flat at the top, and it doesn't really start being wavy until it hits the top of my ears. It looks curlier as it gets longer. It's pretty easy to straighten with a flat iron, but I can't straighten it with a blowdryer. It does well when I layer products and it likes heavy products. I haven't had much luck with putting plane oils on it, but I does well with oil-rich products. It is not easily weighed down.

CG/ModCG/not CG: CG

Hair ingredient likes: Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, flax seed gel, protein, tea tree oil

Hair ingredient dislikes: sulfates, baking soda, eggs, too much glycerin in the winter

Hard/Soft Water: hard

HG/Go-to Products: Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee, Yes to Carrots Conditioner, AO Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner

Average climate/dew points: Very humid over the summer. Dry during the winter.

Fall/Winter combos: Yes to Carrots Leave in, seal with SM Smoothie, LA Looks Sports Gel
Spring/Summer combos: Basically the same thing, but maybe more gel. Yes to Carrots Leave in, seal with SM Smoothie, LA Looks Sports Gel, Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee

Favorite styling techniques and why: Icequeen method for volume, raking in conditioner then crunching in gel, plopping for 3-5 minutes to form curls, reapplying gel after I plop, pixicurl method for increased curliness (I usually airdry because it's less effort), letting my hair dry crunchy then SOTC
Techniques that didn’t work and why: clipping didn't hold after I took the clips out, Supersoaker made my hair really flat, extended/overnight plopping made my hair wonky and weighed down, up-right product application left my hair even flatter on top

Hair Twins: I'm all alone. Most people with my hair properties like really light products, and I tend to be really heavy handed with strong products. I've tried reducing product amount lately.

Curl Pattern: 2a on top/2b underneath
Texture: fine to medium
Porosity: low
Density: medium/thick
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: loves protein...can't seem to get enough! Haven't been able to get co-washing to work, yet. Weak wave pattern falls from nice 2b to 2a by the end of most days. Still trying to find that magical combo that will help my waves stay in tact in this desert climate. Too wavy to easily straiten, but not strong enough to easily style wavy. Silky feeling, seems to be weighed down by too much conditioner.

CG/ModCG/not CG: Mod CG

Hair ingredient likes: Protein, honey, agave nectar, Aloe Vera Gel
Hair ingredient dislikes: Glycerin (I'm guessing this is due to the constant low dew point)

Hard/Soft Water: Hard water

HG/Go-to Products: IAgirl's Protein treatment, Nature's Gate Pomegranate sunflower shampoo, SS Caitlyn's Conditioner, KCKT, CJCIAB, KCCC, BRHG

Average climate/dew points: yearly average dew point range: 20-45

Fall/Winter combos: Products are similar year-round
Spring/Summer combos: Products are similar year-round.

Favorite styling techniques and why: pixie diffusing to set curl (focusing on roots) to about 50% dry then air drying.
Techniques that didn’t work and why: leaving too much water in my fine hair pulls out all the waves, daily co-washing weighs waves down, diffusing too long gives me 'wonky' waves that spiral and then randomly jet out in odd directions..totally weird.

Hair Twins: ?

Techniques that didn’t work and why: super soaker pulled out wave an product, plopping made hair look all wonky and frizzy, diffusing made hair too poofy

Curl Pattern: 2b/2c

Characteristics: Almost BSL with long layers, growing out bangs that are giving me fits. Not much root curl. Mostly 2b with some 2c bits, and the occaisional ringlet with the right mix of products. Weird flat spot on the left side of my head that refuses to curl. Constantly fighting frizz. Still trying out products to figure out what works and what doesn't.

Curl Pattern: 2b in front, 2 a in back
Texture: fine
Porosity: incredibly high
Density: incredibly thick
Elasticity: ??

Characteristics: Easily weighed down, one half of my head is buzzed down halfway to my center part line AND my "ponytail" from the remaining hair is still 4 inches around. Shortest layer chin length, longest layer, *just* @ shoulder length. Extra light ash blonde, w/ a purple section on my longest, most "hidden" underlayers.

not CG: I play w/ products too often not to need real poo from time to time. I prefer sulfate-free & low to no silicone.

Hair ingredient likes: PROTEIN, coconut oil, argan oil, aloe vera gel, magnesium sulfate...
Hair ingredient dislikes: Beeswax, anything w/ mineral oil or petroleum products in it.

Hard/Soft Water:HARD ASS FLORIDA WATER. UGH.

HG/Go-to Products: CJ: Curls in a Bottle, Coffee Creme Lite, Strengthening Conditioner ... Jessicurl: Gelebration, Confident Coils ... BRHG, Shea Moisture's shampoos & mists, Kinky-Curly Knot Today

Average climate/dew points: Florida. Humid all day, everyday.
Fall/Winter combos: not enough seasonal change for this
Spring/Summer combos: not enough seasonal change for this

Favorite styling techniques and why: Scrunching from the ends up, using butterfly clips for part-line volume, anything that encourages clumping and/or wave definition, anything to make it bigger, badder, and babe-licious
Techniques that didnít work and why: Sopping wet product application -- weighs my crown down, b/c although my hair strands are fine, my hair itself incredibly dense.

Hair Twins: No one. Come find me!!! I do not fear the frizz, & I'm always in favor of Big Hair
Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 2b/c
Texture: med-coarse
Porosity: low
Density: thick
Elasticity: low
Characteristics: hard to straighten even with a flatiron, lots of volume/body, prone to frizz, big & poofy, needs products with good hold for definition or else I look like Mia Thermopolis.

CG/ModCG/not CG: ModCG. I lo-poo but no sulfates or silicones

Hair ingredient likes/ Hair ingredient dislikes/ HG/Go-to Products/ Fall/Winter combos/ Spring/Summer combos: I have only been doing this for a short amount of time so I can't answer most of these but I did discover that my hair is protein-sensitive which is the opposite of what I always thought.

Hard/Soft Water: Technically hard but it's not terrible.

Average climate/dew points: Humid, average relative humidity in the summer is in the 70-90 range and the dew points year-round are in the high 60-low 80 range.

Favorite styling techniques and why: scrunching in product while my hair is wet, pixicurl diffusing method, diffusing upside down, flour sack towels for drying and detangling with a comb in the shower

Techniques that didnít work and why: Plopping left my hair stringy and flat. I think my hair is too short for pineappling because it was a hot mess the next day and I woke up with the worst headache and sore scalp.

Hair Twins: I don't know you yet but I know you are out there! I'm tempted to sing that Call Me, Maybe song now.
