So 2's what did you do to your hair today?

I dig it, Saroyan! It's soft and beachy and looks carefree.

I've been getting back to wearing my hair down again. I had an intense September, so my hair was almost always back in a twist (and thus not really wavy). Today is day 3 hair, with just a little water and a small dab of Ecostyler to refresh.

Thanks, dgprocess and saroyan! My hair does day 2 and 3 just fine when I'm using enough protein, though it took me about six months or so to get to that point. Before that, I was lucky to get second day hair.

My experiment was a partial success. I do still have some frizz, more than usual, but less than lately if that makes any sense. But...looking at my hair from a distance, the frizz isn't terribly noticeable. I have not gotten dried out yet either. Downside is that one side is losing its hold and not so curly, and it is the front pieces. I don't know if I just didn't cover that area well enough with product, or if smastering would have helped with some extra hold, or what. I do find though, that after using DTs or lots of moisture, my curls are softer and looser and don't hold as much. Tomorrow might be a ponytail or messy bun day. I might try to do a refresher with a little BRHG and focus on the front. On a side note, I sure hope my sister sent me my Curls Goddess Gel...I think that may be one of my success factors in my wedding and pre-wedding hair. I should try to reach her again to see if she did send it. I know it will take time, but it's nice to know when it was sent so I can guesstimate when I'll get it.

I feel like a big girl now. I can actually talk about what I did instead of ask a bunch of questions about what I should be doing!

I read a lot about honey, and my first week of CG, I tried a DT with honey and olive oil. It was a disaster. The honey was sticky and hard to put in my hair (sorta like slathering wet concrete on my hair). I think I used too much, and I didn't even think to heat it up or mix it with hot water and use it. After reading about a bazillion posts about honey being God's gift to curlies, I tried it today. Cowashed, used Aussie 3MM (3 minutes is a surprisingly long time in the shower), rinsed upside down with cold water, used GFTN as a leave-in and stuck my head under the shower for 2 seconds to distribute. And then I poured my honey mixture over my head (a large glass full of warm water with a quarter size glob of of honey diluted). I sealed my ends with some almond oil, and scrunched out the extra water.

I posted in another thread (the one I started so I could ask a hundred questions) that I'm temporarily giving up on styling products for the next month and focusing on making my hair more moisturized and healthy. I'm going more for softness and shine right now, but I have to say, even my wet curls/waves do look a bit bouncier, so let's see how this goes!

Update: Hair is dry. Still frizzy and rough and my curls are nonexistent - Probably because of no styling products and general lack of hair health. Maybe I'll use some honey in my rinseout next time.

RO was V05 Kiwi stuff. Then I icequeened in some mystery gel (sample whose lettering has worn off) and scrunched in ArcAngel. Plopped for 10 minutes then did another plop in a dry t-shirt for 15 minutes followed by more mystery gel and ArcAngel. Air dried, clipped, SOTC. It is very humid today so I'm frizzy but I have shine and volume so I'm happy.

Sort of CG sometimes, but not really

Today I experimented with flax seed creme (again) or so I'm calling it, it's FSG with shea butter. You can read about my trials last week here. I'm liking it more & more. Attaching a pic. I also made a FSG with agave nectar to try to get some natural hold gel. It's not SOTC completely. Might be a little too much in the mix. That's the fun of concocting!

Wow, Cheetara, you have gorgeous hair! And finale, I thought my third day hair was pretty awesome...until I saw yours. You have amazing hair!

Today I took out my pineapple, sprayed my refresher concoction on my hair until it was damp, scrunched upside-down, and let it airdry. It actually turned out really pretty -- I have NO frizz, which is almost imposible. I didn't think I did anything super different, but I certainly did something right!

Since I'd skipped my last haircut, and my hair was starting to annoy me, I went over to the local beauty school with my own products in tow.
I brought my Alaffia shea and coconut shampoo and
hair lotion to use as a leave in. I had her wash with the Alaffia and put in some lotion before she cut. She loved the orangey smell, and my hair was easy to comb out, maybe a little slippery for her to cut.
My haircut is simple, pretty much this one, http://www.hairfinder.com/techniques/circlehaircut.htm
with 6 inch layers. The front bang area when stretched comes to my mouth, and all of the other areas measure the same.
When I described it, the instructor called it "uniform".
I had her chip the ends a tiny bit throughout,
and when she was done I had her spray it with water and add my Dep Sport texture gel. I scrunched it a little upside down with my microfiber towel, finger styled it myself, then sat under the dryer a few minutes before the school closed.
For all of $6, plus tip, I think this cut came out as good or better than an I've had at pricey salons. This just proves to me that I can get good results for a low price If I just know what I want, be specific, and bring my own products.

Hi Hon
Ha! You caught me posting the same thing both places.
I swear, these are the only two forums I post on.
@ruchipuchi-I pretty much only did the CG method without any styling products for all of last fall/winter/spring! I just concentrated on getting my hair and scalp healthy and moisturized.

@crwritt-Your hair looks beautiful! I am super jealous!

Tonight I decided to do a PT+DT. I low poo'd with Mop C hydrating shampoo and PT'd with Marie Dean Olive & Wheat Berry Protein for 45 mins, rinsed and DT'd with CJ Curl Rehab for 45 mins.

After rinsing out the CR, scrunched out the water with a flour sack towel and then scrunched in a little DM curling gelly and a little BRHG. Much less than I usually use but I could see my waves starting to form before I added product!

I'm really pleased with how my hair looks and feels right now. According to the Marie Dean website it looks like the PT could be used as a PT+DT combo. I might try that next time. I also really love the scent of the Marie Dean, especially compared to the Curl Fix stinky, floraly scent!

I think I'm finally onto something with my 2nd day hair! Today I spritzed liberal amounts of Mister Right and scrunched in many handfuls of homemade FSG. Looks great as it's drying, no frizz. I'll post a pic later if I can.

My FSG has sea salt, AVG, a dab of honey, almond and lemongrass oil.

Today I water washed and icequeen'd with SS Caitlin's condish. Scrunched in some Bella Curl leave-in, Darcy's coiling jelly and then a little BRHG and plopped.

Hair definitely didn't look good today! I was surprised because usually I get a couple really good days after a PT+DT. But then I realized I don't usually use a protein condish which probably contributed since my hair was also frizzy and a bit dry. Guess I'll have to save the Caitlin's for another day!

I just did my hair...I was gonna do it earlier, but I had a headache and therefore napped for a few hours before my friend came over to play my SNES (Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Super Mario World, for those interested).

I did a few things different today, but mainly, I did NOTHING UPSIDE DOWN and NO PLOPPING (which involves being upside down of course). The purpose of this exercise is to see if I can get my part to be better.

I washed with the last bit of my first tester bottle of SS MCS...I am really gonna have to stretch that last bottle til it officially comes out. I used some SS RPT as a RO and to detangle (let it sit while I did other shower stuff) and then added a little water to the last of my DDMT and scrunched that in (I dipped my hair into the container with the water mixture), kept adding water to the container and shaking it some and then pouring over my head until it was running clear from the little tub...I really wanted to use every last drop...seriously. Ha ha ha!

After a cool rinse, I scrunched a little water out, had like 4 big huge clumps. I used my homemade LI (the last bit of my old SS RPT and DDMT with some water...it's the old caramel latte scent) and combed it in. Then I sectioned my hair into upper and lower parts, sectioning off and securing the top and leaving the bottom open. I used a few squirts of BS CCB, smoothing and raking in, followed by a small blob of CEJ the same way...I could see part of my hair start curling more at this point which was neat. I'd seen that happen after rinsing the RPT out in the shower too. I sectioned the top a few more times and repeated...I had about 4 sections in total. I smoothed in a tiny bit of gel (HEBE) too. BTW, my hair was parted by this time already. At this point, I combed all my hair and tried lifting from the scalp a la rudee but either I have the wrong tool or my hair just isn't the right kind to do that with. I did scrunch in palmfuls of water to both sides, and just like the stylers, I did this all right side up. I used my tee to scrunch out water...as much as I thought I could do. I added just a bit more gel, scrunched in, and scrunched with the tee a little more.

I went straight to diffusing. I can't remember the last time I didn't plop at some point after adding stylers. I can say that it was a weird feeling. :P So again, no upside down diffusing, but I did try to start and use the fingers to dry at my roots/scalp/crown for volume...I don't think it did much good. I did most diffusing on my sides. There was one time where I held my fingers over my part (to keep it in tact) and flipped, but then thought better of it and resumed the sideways position. With my hair being much wetter, it did take longer to dry, though on the positive side, my clumps were still formed and not frizzing, so I think that might have helped them dry a little less frizzy than usual. I did smasters partway through, maybe 60-70% dry, with 2 tiny drops of BRHG on wet hands...one for each side and the back, and then finished diffusing til about 80-90% dry. Because my hair was much wetter than normal, I diffusing on low speed, alternating hot and warm heat, and mostly pixiecurled.

I think this is going to be some good hair. I can already see nicely formed clumps and curls, and as always with SS products, the shine is incredible, and I know post SOTC I will have soft hair too.

Good hair day despite getting rained on! I just got my new hard bonnet dryer and I tried it out. I sat under it for 10 minutes on low then 5 minutes on high. I was 75% dry after that!

Today I S&C'd with GFTN then cowashed with V05 Pomegranate. I icequeen rinsed upside down in cold water then raked and scrunched in some Rusk Radical Thickening and Texturizing Creme, scrunched in Arc Angel and a little Set Up and Above. Plopped then clipped and did the dryer as above.

My hair looks amazing today! It's been feeling producty and stringy this week so I decided to bite the bullet and sulfate wash on Thursday night. Used HE Degunkify to wash and then put lots of Yes to Cukes in to condition. Did nothing to my hair yesterday.

Today I cowashed with Giovanni TTTT and icequeen'd with Yes to Cukes. After scrunching out excess water, scrunched in some Bella Curl leave-in and Darcy's coiling jelly and plopped for about 10 mins. Scrunched in some BRHG and scrunched with a flour sack towel.

My hair is nearly dry so I busted out the CJ CIAB to help with a little frizz and now my hair looks amazing! I think I got over proteined when I used the CJ H&B condish one day, PT+DT the next, and then used Caitlin's condish the day after that.

Even though I think my hair is porous, I don't think it can handle much protein. It is definitely more textured (ie coarse) which probably doesn't help!

I hate to jinx it by posting here, but I've gotten pretty consistent hair this past week with the following routine:

--lo-poo with Burts Bees every 2-3 days (either water wash, co-wash, or do 2nd day hair the other days)
--condition with fake biolage conditioning balm- icequeen method
--while still soaking wet in the shower: rake in a quarter sized biolage balm as leave-in and then scrunch in a good dollop of gel (I love the Nancy Boy brand!) upside down
--scrunch with flour sack towel to get out most of the drippiness, then plop for 5-10 minutes while I dry off and get dressed
--scrunch in a bit of HETT
--diffuse dry upside down pixiecurl method to about 50% dry (for volume)
--put some clips in the front and let air dry the rest of the way

Not foolproof- and I desperately need a haircut- but this is the best my hair has looked since going CG. It is finally soft and getting a decent wave without too much frizz.
