Multi-Quote fest!
To be quite honest, I've discovered that almost all degrees are this way. Its getting to the point where everyone has a bachelors and not everyone needs too. When you meet people (I swear I'm not stuck up, but its gonna sound that way) that you know you are smarter than (and I am not a genius) and they have bachelor's and master's -- you realize that someone somewhere will give anyone a degree. I've even met people from reputable state institutions that I wonder how the HECK they made it through. Like I said, its not mean, I just really have to wonder.
My point is, because of exactly what you said, I know I will probably end up stopping at a masters. I also have a plan (and probably a place of employment) if I end up stopping at a bachelors as well. My current plan is to get my master's in school psych (high in demand right now) and work for the DoDDS (department of defense something blah can't remember now) overseas. Man, those people bank and get to live in europe. I'll be a shoe in for hiring because we'll be ex-military and have already lived overseas.
Doesn't keep me from secretly wanting a PhD and flaunting it in all of the people's faces who had a masters and were STUPID ahhhhhh!
that's freaking fascinating. I knew, I Knew I saw military patches on the corkboard behind you. I've almost asked you about them several times, but I figured eventually someone else would ask, or a story would come out. haha, I was semi-right.
For me, a leave in definitely helps to combat frizz, but I've heard the CCCC is super moisturizing. Can't hurt to experiment though. And yes, here on the wavy board, we loves our photos!
Thanks for the well wishes goldie Yes! I know, if I had unlimited funds and time, I'd study evolutionary psychology -- which is anthropology's cousin (if not sibling) in my opinion.
Also -- for a laugh to anyone who got this far, the other day, I was pm'ing Alex and we started talking about degrees and in my PM I almost typed pHd. Oooh I crack myself up. Hair info on the brain!

Today I co-washed with Suave Tangerine; then used my own daily conditioner. I slathered in a bunch of my curl enhancing jelly and then the firm hold gel over that. Did a 5-minute plop (normally I do not plop but my hair is getting long enough to try it again), then diffused to about 80% dry. Freakin' amazing hair today!
If you have asked me for samples, I am sorry I am so behind, but I'm almost there....promise.

All this ed talk is interesting. I'm actually the Registrar for a huge private university (that's what I do in the real world)
I have 4 degree's (two Bachelor's and two Masters) and the thought of going back for the Ph.D is nauseating for me. I'm sure I could do it--but I finished my Masters in 1993 so I've been out almost 20 years..I've taken a class here and there just for fun but full time? I see thousands of students doing it all (work, school, family) and my hat's off to you all! I was young and single and it was hard enough on me!
My Bachelor's are in Political Science and Criminal Justice. Planned on law school, got accepted, but CA called to me. So I just didn't go and oved out here instead. Instead got 2 Masters (Master of Public Administration and then an MBA in Finance). While I loved my schooling I don't love my student loans!
Anyway it's interesting the topic of schooling!

Oh, schooling. I'm in professional school (law school, to be exact) and you couldn't pay me enough money to go back after this. I want to be done now, haha.

Here are my photos from today! I attached how my hair has been looking and how it was today. Looks like I'm learning how to clump. Now to defrizz and add some volume

Yep yep..a check on the clumping! Looks awesome!!!
The other two ...well there's a gazillion posts because many of us have at least one, if not both, of those issues!

Hooray!
So, I posted (a lot) the last few days, about the state of my hair. It's been terrible for the past 4 days, dry feeling, stringy, and just not feeling right at all.
Under someone's suggestion, I decided to stop using my current co-wash in case it was a protein issue. I didn't have another co-wash, so today I went out to buy something else. I ended up buying a few things. I switched out my Suave Coconut for V05 Free Me Freesia, my Burt's Bees Super Shiny for Garnier Triple Nutrition and I also bought some HETT mousse (I currently also use the gel).
Right out of the shower my hair was still not clumping as it did, but I could already tell something was better about it. It was at least clumping instead of refusing to co-operate entirely.
I just SOTC and it looks SO much better!! I'm so happy about it right now! YEY!
Left side pictures are 2 days ago and the right side are today.

That is a great improvement! So much shine!
If it keeps getting better I'd say it could have been the protein, but it hard to say after just one day.

Wow Euturpe!! Huge difference! I was the opposite of you, I used Vo5 and got instant frizz. I switched to the Suave and it instantly got better. Sometimes our hair just likes what it likes!

Euturpe I agree with Dark Waves and Goob! It looks awesome! That is a remarkable difference and it is absolutely visible. We use the Garnier Fructis for my daughter quite a lot and we love it!

Yay for HETT mousse, Euterpe! I love the stuff and I am so sad that I can't bring it with me when I fly (either carry on or checked luggage) because I've been traveling recently.
Alex, I've been curious about your job--thanks for letting me/us know what you do. It's so interesting to learn about people as little facets are revealed over time.
And I can't say enough how sick I am of school and how weary I am of the dissertation. Again, it would have been much more practical to stop with a MA (or go and get an MBA to complement my MA). I underestimated the amount of time it would take to get the PhD and the amount of financial support/department structure I would need. I started in 2002, got my MA in 2004, finished coursework in 2006, and have been struggling with the vague, amorphous final requirements (qualifying exams, prospectus, dissertation) since then. But I will finish in the next 6 months. And then I can spend more time researching hair products, learning about chemicals and ingredients, and making my own stuff. Oh yeah, and get a real job and maybe have a life and a family.

Today was a co-wash day. Then I smoothed in DoC and scrunched in HETT mousse. Not sure what did it, but thumbs down...
Not too much wave definition. I just scrunched it again with wet hands (since I don't have anything else with me). Maybe I should have put a LI under the DoC.
My Mom's retirement party is this afternoon so hopefully I can make it work somewhat since I'm already at work.
I had already planned on doing a PT tonight.

So an o.k. day!
Having an o.k. day today. Used SNBE low poo followed by Jasmine's Babbasu Condish to rinse out. I used Jasmines Shea conditioner for leave in then DM MCCG and topped with ABBA.
Good definition, a tiny bit stringy but not too bad. Back looks really good and my hair feels soft and bouncy and not producty.
I'm really liking the Jasmine conditioners..they make my hair very soft without pulling out the curl.
Happy Wednesday all!

I am getting my pictures posted before my hair explodes into frizz. It is pouring rain and I don't have an umbrella. This isn't going to end well at all.

I will probably get another Masters either in Political Science or Criminal Justice, although this Masters is pretty much a PoliSci one with a different name. I think if I had gone to grad school right after I graduated, I would have bailed out. I joined the PC instead and when I came back looked in (again) to getting my Masters, but went to work. Then in 98, I was offered a job in NY and a Masters opportunity at South Dakota State University for a Masters in Wildlife Science, I have to wonder where I would be now had I chosen to take the degree program and not moved to NY. I started this Masters in 2003 and it has been hard, I move so much that I kept losing semesters to that, then with work, I could really only take 1 class a semester, it just took forever. I am so glad to be done, yet I can't stop thinking about getting another one. I love the learning process and writing papers, even though at the time it's stressful, there is just something about it that I keep coming back for me!! Insanity, I guess!

You were semi-right, those are actually law enforcement patches and I work in the wonderful world of wildlife law enforcement. That's why I said my history Masters will get me nowhere.

Dark, I never get good results on a co-wash day. Don't know why.
Gekko, is that HETT mousse? Regardless, your hair looks clumpy and shiny!
