Haircut woes
I went last night and got a haircut. As I'm nursing my hair back to health, I've been going regularly to get it trimmed. After keeping my hair short most of my life, this is the longest my hair has ever been. Because it's so thick, it can be really heavy.
In my experience, stylists see my hair and immediately reach for the thinning shears or try to razor-cut it. It's so thick and dense and they always want to change that. The stylist I've been going to for a few years now is usually really good about it. She never uses thinning shears or a razor. She knows I don't see my hair being thick as a problem. I love it and embrace it.
I went in last night and gave her the rundown of what I was wanting. I wanted a trim of the ends and I told her that growing my hair out was making it feel too heavy so if we could shape it up, maybe do some long layers?
Cut to two hours later. My hair is completely layered all the way up to the crown. Short layers all over. And it is so thin. My ponytail went from four inches in circumference to maybe one inch. On top of that, she blew it straight so I have no idea what it's going to look like when I fix it wavy.
I'm not one of those people who freaks out over a haircut. I've always had the attitude of 'eh, it'll grow back'. But I have to say, I'm kinda bummed.

AVG as Styler
Tried AVG as a styler for the second time (first was meh). Co washed with SN Everlasting Sunshine, Aloeba as RO. A nickle of SM Curl & Style Milk smoothed through, then a big ol' glob of AVG (maybe 2 oz?) scrunched in. Used the Denman to distribute and detangle, then mod Super Soaker to re-clump. Diffused to about 75% and let air dry the rest of the way. Result: very soft waves, a little frizz and lots of volume, which I didn't expect. Hoping it will hold up in today's humidity.

4th day in a row its gone up into a messy bun. Last night what was hanging out of the bun was pretty so I'll post pics of that. Today I look like einstein. The dews have been 70-80 all week so I gave up.

Did a DT earlier tonight (TN moisture + EVOO + coconut oil + almond oil + apricot kernel oil + honey). I know - kind of went crazy with oils - I couldn't decide which one I wanted to use, so I added some of each (mostly EVOO and coconut, with just a couple drops of the other two). Left it on for about an hour or so, then rinsed it out and used a little CK satin roots to detangle. I let it air dry without any other product to give my hair a little break. I'm loving the extra volume, even if it is a little poofy and holy cow, my hair feels so soft and silky!

Co washed with SN Everlasting Sunshine, scrunched in a nickel of SM Curl and Style Milk, plopped for 10 minutes and air dried. Looks great...soft, defined waves. And I have root curl! Who knew!

This morning I cowashed with VO5 Kiwi Lime and RO with Tresemme Naturals. Applied a tiny bit of KCKT to my wet hair, scrunched in LALSG, plopped for about 20 minutes, and now I'm waiting on my hair to dry This is my first day trying out Tresemme Naturals, so I'm interested to see how it looks later today.

Last night I cowashed with SN Ocean Breeze, combed in AOHR as a RO, combed in KCKT as a LI and sealed. Then I super-soaked and added some KCCC and then topped with AOMM and BRHG mixed maybe 1:3 in my palm. Sprayed some DE Heat Protector and pixie diffused about 80% dry then airdried the rest. I then took my very crunchy hair and put it in a very loose pineapple and topped it with a silk sleep cap. This morning I SOTC with some KCKT, pinned back my bangs and finished with a barely there coat of coconut oil on my hands. I like it!

I think I might try the SN tropical coconut conditioner I have as a co wash, never tried this before, only as a RO and its not moisturizing enough for this Another experiment to try

New here, hi!
Cowashed with VO5 Vanilla Mint, RO Deva OneC, put in some SM Curl and Style Milk used the Denman to distribute, scrunched in Biotera Curl Cream, supersoaked and added Biotera Gel. Plopped, topped with a little mix of BRHG and SM CSM, diffused, smastered with BRHG/SM CSM and air dried. Kind of soft hold, but feels really nice and soft, no producty feeling...sadly won't look like this in the morning...
Ok, think I figured out how to post the picture I thought I had added last time....

This morning I switched it up a little bit. Did a cowash with VO5 Kiwi Lime and Ion effective care for a RO. I bought a small packet of it earlier this week and I have been meaning to try it out. I'm still trying to determine whether my hair wants more protein or more moisture!
I noticed the ion didn't have enough slip for me to be able to detangle, so I applied a tiny amount of KCKT for detangling purposes. Raked and scrunched in LALSG to dripping wet hair, scrunched out the excess. I'm currently plopped and waiting to take it down so it can air dry

Today
I had washed last night and let my hair mostly dry. I "damp" plopped and didn't twist the side so I could sleep. What I woke up to was a mess. Imagine a toddler with sleep hair...that was me, except frizzier!
Soooo...
I re-wet in the sink, scrunched in some HETT gel, scrunched with a t-shirt, and then plopped for about 15 min. (that's all the time I had!) I let it air dry while I ran errands, and actually SOTC in the middle of a store with my husband. The crunch was driving me insane! All in all, it turned out pretty well!
P.S. This is my second week of CG

Huh, I somehow lost/unsubscribed this thread.
Last night for the first time in a long time I did a C.O. treatement overnight. Dam I forgot how much I like doing that. I think I need to add it to my weekly stuff. I got a lot of volume and root curl. I think last time I did it I didn't get all the C.O. out and that put me off.
Prep: rinsed for a bit under the shower
Apply: melted/emulsified the C.O. in my hands and scrunch applied when all the bits were melted. I did 3 or 4 applications. The amounts were between quarter & half dollar size. Massaged my scalp too, it felt so good!
Remove: poo'd with SheaM C&S shampoo twice. The MRS doesn't get enough of the C.O. out for me.
Then normal stuff minus the leave-in. 2 dollops LOOB, 3 pumps Biotera CC/SheaM mix, plop 20-40 minutes, 2 nickels BRHG, plop 75-90 minutes.

Tried again to use Curls Creme Brule styling creme with blah results. Co-washed with VO5 Kiwi Lime, nickel of KCKT as LI and two dimes of Creme Brule scrunched in, then let air dry. After about 20 minutes I already had a hideous mess of frizzy, stringy waves. YUCK! So, back to my HG: Smasters with KCCC to the rescue! I actually have decent hair, nicely clumpy, a few ringlets and no frizz. I'm about to give up on the Creme Brule, though.

I like the Cream Brule
I like the Cream Brule, but I have been using it with gel, too. Have you tried air drying after using it with gel? You might like the hold a little better.

I'm really glad you like it, I tried it and it did nothing for my hair (no clumping, no wave enhancing, nothing), but your hair looks gorgeous.
