On the experimenting trail again I am trying to find out what works best on my hair: what products to use on wet hair and what products on towel dry hair.

Curlformers (sometimes JCGS, sometimes a mousse or cream) I always put on wet hair. After that I usually plop for a short while, like a minute or 5. Then put in the Etos solid power gel (Dutch brand of hard to hold gel, like the name says )

A few days ago I've tried plopping for 15 minutes after I've put the curlformer in (a mix of Osis+ Gel mousse and JCGS).
After that I scrunched in my Etos gel. Then plopped for another 15 minutes. (Actually I wanted the 2nd plop to last only 5 minutes, but something came up and I had to plop longer)
Then I pixiediffused till almost dry. My hair felt rather dry at first, but after a while it felt like it sucked up moist from the environment and my hair started to feel a bit damp again, but it curled up nicely in spirals. And I even got a compliment!

Today I am trying mousse again. I started CG with mousse, but somehow I can't get it to work for me anymore.. but I'd really like to kill my PJ-stash, so..

First I poo-ed with Daily Fix, RO/Li: Motions CPR Triple-Action Li plus Elvive Highlights DT (I use this as a CO).
Then put some Wella Volume mousse just on the roots and some Osis+ mousse gel on the lengths. Then I squished to form clumps and then scrunched some water out, not too much.
I plopped for 15 min., took a dry cloth and plopped again for 15 min. then scrunched some L´Oréal Volum´Max mousse in. Clipped and I am still air drying.
Somehow I cannot diffuse with mousse or I get straight ends (too dry?)

I'll get back to you on the results

Well, this is the result..no actual curls, but waves and lazy spirals (more like ropes lol). Of course I didn't use much product today.
But I don't mind it for a lazy Sunday.

My biggest problem tends to be tangled/frizziness and stringy waves (major fail with oil sealer!), but this process has given me really good results the last couple days:

1) lowpoo with Giovanni tea tree
2) RO with suave ocean breeze
3) LI KCKT (wide tooth comb through)
4) rake in KCCC then comb through to establish part
5) super soaker to clump
6) straight to plop for 5-10 minutes
7) smasters with KCCC (and pixie diffusing) for about 10 minutes (this makes my hair only ever so slightly dry- barely a dent, really)
Gentle rake and scrunch with HETT to set the canopy

Much less frizz and also helps it look more "done" as it dries with better lift at the roots when it's wet.

I still get pretty tangly on the ends but I very due for a cut so I wonder if I'll see a bigger change there once that's done.

Today I left out super soaker and diffusing just to see and it was not as good - not terrible, but lacked the clumps and "done" look, and was a bit frizzier.

Today I misted my hair and scrunched some diluted gel in it. Plopped for 15min. Then pixiediffused and SOTC while diffusing.
The ends are more curly then yesterday (because of diffusing no doubt), more wave near the roots, but also more frizz. Well, it was a humid day, so I'm not too picky.

Shampood out my overnight oil DT.
Applied HE HH conditioner.
Plopped
Put a homemade hair lotion to the length and ends.
Used aloe gel +few drops of castor oil to seal.

My hair was soft but a tad frizzy. I think it's the low humidity.. Bcz this usually works for me.

Can anyone suggest a cool wedding hair style for 2a, BSL? I have a wedding to attend tomorrow. I'll do any style you ladies suggest.

Cowashed with Hair One
Used Dep gel mixed with a bit of Hair One as a leave-in
4Naturals Curly Wave Serum
Pixie diffused

This time I put the leave-in on after I toweled off, and it didn't work as well as before, which is sorta strange. Had a lot of curls sticking out today. Will be nice when it grows out enough.

Also looking for an updo for a wedding next week, and my hair is just below my collar in the back and between chin and shoulder length in front. Been trying stuff on Youtube, but can't get them to work.

I did feel good today when I was at Whole Foods in the hair section, and the lady was recommending all these shampoos to a cancer survivor. After the worker left, I suggested this site and cowashing, along with oiling. She's a 4, though had a hat on, so I didn't see it. But I recommended "Gentle, gentle!" I actually gained my curly hair after having cancer. It was stick straight before that.

I love this thread, so I figured it was time that I posted on it! (:

Today I pooed my hair (I'm not exactly sure if it has sulfates in it or not - it's a prescription poo for my scalp eczema ), then cowashed with SNTC, used Organix coconut as my r/o, then put my hair up in a cotton t-shirt for a few minutes before combing it out a little and then putting in GFSS leave-in, and some Garnier mousse (trying to use up my almost-empty products to make room for more :P). It's more curly than usual, which makes me happy since I'm a 2a/2b (: Still some frizz though... I really wish it would go away! But I'd say today was a good hair day!

I co washed with Suave Naturals Clarifying Conditioner, put a bit of sea salt spray, scrunched with a cotton t shirt, pixie diffused, scrunched some mousse in, and pixie diffused again. Really wavy, and even got some ringlets this time

Today, I lowpooed with SM Moisture Retention, detangled with KCKT and a wide-toothed comb, and RO'd with Curls Coconut Curlada. Then, I scrunched in Curls Creme Brule and Goddess Curls Gel into wet but not dripping hair. I pixi-diffused until my hair was about 40% dry, just until the cast was set. My commute to work is about an hour or so but it still wasn't dry enough to SOTC and I ended up forgetting to do so until this afternoon.

I ordered some GVP conditioning balm online and I can't wait to try it. My 2C waves have become closer to 2A waves and I'm not really sure what to do at this point. My hair is the healthiest it's ever been so I can't really complain. I guess I just want some consistency. And I'm still on my search for my HGs.

I'm only two weeks into going CG and not blowing my hair straight every day, and I just discovered this thread yesterday - it's so helpful for a newbie like me!

I started with a simple routine that I have been doing basically every day. I can't tell how well it works for me yet, because I figure it'll take a while to balance out. But today I co-washed with Suave Naturals everlasting sunshine, then used Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Fortifying Conditioner, let it sit, detangled etc. Used the GF again as a little leave-in (nickel amount), raked it through my hair and then scrunched in water from the sink to re-clump. Then I put in DevaCurl Light hold gel by smoothing over sections, not raking it in, and scrunching. Plopped for ~20 min, diffused to 85% dry.

Overall, I'm happy with how it looks! This week my hair started to feel super soft and shiny like it never has before, which is great! However today I have a little buildup and a little extra frizz I think… I haven't used any cleanser besides the Suave Naturals conditioner since two weeks ago today, so I'm thinking it's time to try a baking soda/ACV rinse? Or maybe I need to low poo every two weeks or so? Just feeling a little gunky/greasy today and yesterday.

Pics below! I also attached a shot of my hair right after my last sulfate wash. I'm so happy about the improvement already! Although I currently have some wonky clumps (recovering from a thinning shear, trying to grow it out…)

I'm pretty new at this too, I'm quickly becoming a product junkie! Fun though!!

Ok, today I used kinky curly come clean (cowash)and then some knot today. While still very wet I put shea/coconut oil in ends (about 3 inches). Then I put my homemade flax seed oil made with some also homemade vanilla oil (cause I hate the smell of flax seed). Then I crunch with my new crunching towel and put in joico whip. It worked pretty good, lots of bounce and twirls. The only thing is I can never get second day hair, no matter what I try, I have to cowash everyday as my hair gets too gunky.

It's official, I'm resurrecting this thread! I told myself a while ago I wouldn't buy more products until I figured out my hair properties. Well, results are in! I'm fine, dense, medium porosity, normal elasticity, and I am ready to start trying new products! I recently received a $100 WalMart gift card as a promotion for something, and… well I might have gone a little overboard and ordered just about every CG product WalMart sells online.

Today: I low poo-ed with Shea Moisture moisture retention shampoo and used Aubrey Organics GPB condish as a rinse-out. I only left it in for a minute or two and rinsed fully. Then, I applied a little V05 kiwi lime as a leave-in because my hair gets overmoisturized so easily throughout the day (I think). Scrunched in a little GF pure clean gel, followed by a tiny bit of LAL sports gel for extra hold. Plopped 5 minutes and then diffused.

Results: Meh. I have okay definition and great shine (always do with LAL gel), but it's rather flat today. This is my third day in a row using the AO GPB conditioner and while the protein makes my curl pattern tighter, I think it is a rather heavy product and also weighing me down. Also, I think I will lay off the protein tomorrow, because I'm starting to get some crazy fly-aways from it.

Today I washed with deva low poo, conditioned with yes to carrots. Combed through while in the shower. Rinsed, squeezed out excess water. Combed through again out of shower, scrunched in SM C&S milk, used a small towel to scrunch out excess water, scrunched in a small amount of BRHG, scrunched out water again, plopped for 10-15 minutes. Took out plop, added a little more BRHG and let hair dry. SOTC with JCNS. I REALLY like how soft it is

Default Best Hair Day!

I'm having an incredible hair day today!

I co-washed with President's Choice Hydrating conditioner, then used Herbal Essences Hello Hydration condition for my RO. Put in a generous amount and clipped it up while I finished showering. Then I rinsed it gently with cool water, squeezed out the excess water, and put a bit more in (loonie size) as a LI. I used a wide-tooth comb to try and coax out some clumps. Added a huge glob of HETT gel. Then I plopped for about 5 minutes, let my hair down, clipped the roots and let it air dry while I ate breakfast. Diffused a bit just to help it dry a bit more. Scrunched out the crunch with a bit of SN Strawberry conditioner and voila!

It's soft, defined, and beautiful! I'm on day three of CG routine after several months of modified CG and my hair is so great.

**The President's Choice conditioner has a ton of protein in it -- I think I can safely say now that my hair loves protein!

Today I washed with deva low poo, conditioned with deva one c, rinsed, squeezed out water. Then I combed and parted my hair, topped upside down and combed the front away from the scalp, then started scrunching out water with my microfiber towel. Scrunched in a small amount of JCNS, focusing on my ends. Then I added three nickel size blobs of LOOB in the different sections of my hair (all while scrunching) then I added moroccan oil curl mousse. Scrunched with my hand dry hair glove, plopped for maybe 25 minutes, then air dried. Barely had any crunch!
