Today was a first for me, I co-washed with flax conditioner, twisted up in a towel, raked my fingers through lots and decided to have an "i don't care and give up" day with my hair. Amazingly I love how it turned out. 6 weeks of cg is starting to pay off at last.

Routine

Low Poo, Condition, Leave in, Curl cream, Supersoak, Gel, Diffuse on high heat, with minimal lift to encourage waves and reduce frizz, Dry on cool with nozzle down to smooth hair and finish drying,Shine Serum

Weekly gelatin protien treatments.
Today I showered with a sulfate shampoo twice because I used a silicone product and I really wanted to get it all out. Then I also conditioned twice. Got out, wrapped a towel around, walked to my room. Then I put in a good amount of leave in conditioner followed by mousse. I used the mousse for the first time on wet hair today and it turned out quite nice. Next time I will put in a bit more. I also scrunched some mousse into my dry bangs to get some volume and curls/waves in there. I do have a bit of frizz in the crown but I love it because it looks so natural. I always know my hair likes a routine when the hairs at the nape curl like crazy, and they're doing it! lol...

For a hairstyle I did a side-part, then, because my hair is chin-length, I put my hair behind my ears, then stuck in bobby pins on both sides and lifted my hair out from behind the ears. (does this make sense? it's very simple. I guess it's a good way to measure where to put the bobby pins and to make sure they are on the same height.) Anyways, I really like it. I can't post pics yet because I don't have a camera with me in my dorm room. In the summer I will try to post some pics.

I am having a great hair day thanks to all the tips from this forum! I've been doing CG for nearly 2 weeks now. Still need a cut, because the layers are maddeningly wrong, but this is what I did and photos of the results.

Co-wash with NG Herbal. I seem to still be shedding a lot, which worries me?
Conditioned with Suave Coconut, applied from the ends and squished up, then combed gently. Rinsed upside-down.
Added a dab KCCC *in the shower*, squished it around through my hair, combed again, then rinsed with cool water very quickly.
Headbanged a bit (still the most reliable way to get my clumps on), then squished/palm scrunched my curls up.

Out of the shower I dried myself, but not my hair! Then applied two pumps of Peter Lamas mousse, rubbed it between my palms, and got it into my roots. I don't rake product, it wrecks my curls, but I kind of thread my fingers in between the curls and then smoosh it around.

More KCCC, again, just a dab between my palms scrunched all over.

Squeezed out some water with a flour sack towel (yay for Target!).

Applied a garbanzo bean sized blob of Garnier Pure and Clean gel (my new addition to the routine today - I only change one thing at a time!), rubbed between my palms, and again gently palm scrunched the heck out of my hair.

Plopped with the flour sack. It's way easier to tie up than a t-shirt, but I am still not sure I love plopping. My hair tends to do whatever it is told, so the angles it gets from plopping (even for just 20 minutes) make it go in odd directions that I can't fight after that. It also gives me flatness on top. So I'm still working that out.

Anyway, got dressed and let the dog out, about 20 minutes. Unplopped. Did my make-up, about 10 minutes. Then I did my modified Pixeicurl diffusing method, where I don't put the top layers all the way up (or I get super-tight ringlets in my top layer), dried about 80%.

Let it air dry. SOTC (my new favorite acronym) and WOW! Woo hoo, great hair! My man said it looked good, and I had two compliments from co-workers this morning.

Thanks for all the tips, can't wait to learn more (and get my hair cut on Saturday).

I know these aren't the best photos, but my man took them and he's obviously not as invested in hair photos as I am! The last photo is mid-day, in the sun. It went a bit limp, but still looks good.

finally!! okay so I've been mod CG since November, but I kept slacking off and got discouraged with my hair. but I bought a new mousse that's making a huge difference! (: so today I showered, put some SM C&SM in for leave-in, then dried it enough so it wasnt dripping and put in some HETT mousse and HETT gel, and then just let it air dry! I used a little bit more leave-in to SOTC later, but that's it! It's wavy and pretty much frizz-free! (: now if only I could get better curl...

Today I tried IAgirl's protein treatment and my hair loves it. Used a packet of Knox with water, 1 tsp coconut oil and 1 tsp of Apple cider vinegar. Left it in for 30 minutes rinsed used a little one condition. Left on for maybe 5 minutes, combed, rinsed. Then I did my normal routine using loreal everstyle beach spray and Moroccan Oil Curl Mousse. I have so much curl today!

My hair loves protein, plopping, and diffusing! Trying to find a way to style and air dry.
Today I got my hair cut by a curly haired stylist! She also used devacurl products. I LOVE it. Apparently my hair was really heavy so they thinned/texturized it and fixed my uneven layers. I thought I was 2b/3a but my curls just sprang up to 2c/3a. Amazing how a cut can make such a difference!

Mostly 2B with 2C elements and quite a few random 3A corkscrews in my underneath layer. Re-tested my hair porosity and it is now low. I have fairly dense, medium thick hair.

Use: Shea Moisture Raw shampoo and conditioner, co-wash w/ suave naturals coconut, aussie ausome volume mousse and Herbal essence totally twisted gel.
Very pretty! Do you dye your hair MCoons? I love the color!

Today I used the wash cloth method for second day hair. I think it looks fab. I used curly sexy mousse for frizz.

This is the first time that I have posted in this thread. My hair is 2c with 3a ringlets underneath, I am transitioning to my grey hair, which explains the two toned hair. My natural hair was one shade off black, but i started going gray around 15, and have been dyeing it ever since. I decided to let it go gray and have been gradually lightening the dyed part to blend in better with my gray hair, and will eventually tone it with a gray colour to blend in better.

I have only been cg for around a month, so still experimenting with products. So far, I have been using the icequeen method successfully, but want to experiment with supersoaking as well.

I cowashed with tresemme naturals, ro with ytc, sealed with argan oil, and the then applied garnier endurance gel. I squeezed out the excess water with a mf towel, then plopped for ten minutes. I then let it air dry and sotc with kc pomade.

Lotusthreads, I love your hair! I have always loved gray hair (I guess I know a lot of awesome people with it) and have been eagerly viewing the arrival of a few grays in my own hair. Your natural hair color looks so lovely in those photos, with such nice variation of light and dark. Congrats!

Also, we seem to have pretty similar hair, porosity aside. Yours looks quite a bit like mine in shape and the way it hangs. So hello there.

I got a hair compliment today, so I figured I probably should post what I did lol. I used suave coconut condish on my ends, then a little shea moisture shampoo on my roots, rinsed, used Sally beauty protein treatment for condish, combed with wide tooth comb. Combed upside down, rinsed upside down with cold water. Scrunched out water, combed underneath layer out a bit so the back wasn't funky. Then, scrunched in cure care for leave in, a tiny bit of JCNS to seal, and while soaking wet scrunched in moroccan oil mousse (all upside down), scrunched with microfiber towel, added a bit more mousse, plopped 5-10 min. Took out plop and diffused till dry. Sprayed with curly sexy mousse to set hair when dry.

Bosanbo, looking at your pictures we definitely seem to have similar hair. The high porosity is really only on the older dyed bits, otherwise I think it is med porosity. I can't wait till it all grows out and is all gray, it is such a shock to look in the mirror and see blonde hair, I have always had dark hair before.

I switched it up a bit today, because I've been doing the same routine for a while now (KCCC like a LI, scrunch w/Garnier Pure and Clean Gel).

I co-washed with my usual, used YTC Carrot Pampering as my RO (I think I like it better than Suave Coconut), and then applied Botanical Spirits Shea Soft Styling Cream like a LI, with a quick cool rinse upside-down. Thanks to Kathymack for introducing me to Botanical Spirits!

Out of the shower, I did my usual loose flour sack turban. This works better for me than plopping, probably because of my hair length, the fact that it is fine, and the way my growth pattern is (strong spiral). After about 10 minutes I unwound and gently got myself upright, then scrunched in several palmfuls of Peter Lamas Volumize Me mousse (a non-propellant, CG-friendly, all-natural mousse that I really like).

I aligned my hair, clipped the bits around my at the roots to get them how I wanted them (I aim them forward, toward my face), then air dried for about half an hour. I used my diffuser on low heat to get my roots/back of head lump dry for about five minutes, then air dried more. I do this while I go about my morning stuff: dog feeding, playing in the yard, breakfast, packing lunch, etc.

I have found it really helpful to use a richer product to SOTC, even though I can't use a rich product on my hair right out of the shower. Who knows why? Maybe a porosity issue? Anyway, I used more Shea Soft Styling to SOTC, and whammo, gorgeous big waves!

The KCCC/gel combo gives me tighter defined ringlets. But I really like the way this combo worked; a little more clumpy, definitely more volume, and less tight definition down by my scalp (not good on my fine hair). I really like it!

As usual, every picture I try to take is awful (very dark hair, flourescent lights). I need to enlist a hair photographer....

I decided to a get a little more assertive with my product application, since my hair has been springier after my PT. I'm creeping up on the right amount of product for my fine hair, trying a little more each time.

- NG Herbal co-wash, YTC Carrot RO
- Botanical Spirits Shea Moisture Styling Cream as a LI, really raked it through and used about double what I normall do (so like a garbanzo bean)
- quick cool rinse
- headbangin'
- 10 minute flour sack turban
- did a gentle "rake and shake" with Botanical Spirits puree, then gentle palm scrunching, all upside-down
- gently flipped up and clipped the bits around my face

My hair fell more to the right today, so my part is pretty deep on the left side. I've started really paying attention to the direction of my hair ever since my stylist pointed out that I have one of the few "full spiral" growth patterns (the whorl on the scalp, not my curls themselves) she's seen. I'm trying to obey the spiral by clipping the bits around my face (5-7 clips all together, with more on the right than the left) to flow along with it. So far I'm loving the results!

Dorky pale morning face!

I just woke up so I haven't done much to my hair yet today, but yesterday I did a lot with it! I first washed it with my Suave Professionals Rosemary and Mint shampoo and conditioner, then colored it with Clairol Beautiful Collection semi-permanent hair color in Honey Brown. After rinsing out the color, I applied my Suave Kids detangling spray (ha, I got it because it was cheap and had good reviews even by grown women), combing it through my hair.

For heat styling, I blow dried my hair with my Conair Curl Fusion dryer with the diffuser attachment, after putting on some Silk Naturals MegaSilk heat protectant spray. Then I sprayed on a little more heat protectant and straightened my hair with my Chloché flat iron.

Unfortunately, I think the hair color I used made my roots look somewhat greasy even after I was all done styling my hair, so I put some Not Your Mother's Clean Freak dry shampoo on my crown. Finally, I applied just a little bit of Profectiv Mega Growth sheen spray down the length of my hair, avoiding the roots.

This morning, all I did was just put on a little more dry shampoo.

So I'm currently out of shampoo and conditioner right now because I ordered some new stuff online and am waiting for it to get in. And...I probably didn't make a good choice of what I ordered (KMS Curl Up, lol) but I remember this product worked for me years ago so I thought I'd give it another try. Definitely will be switching over to products silicone and sulfate free, and all that good stuff.

SO, I had to work with what I had. I'm totally out of conditioner...I used a little bit of Biolage ColorSafe shampoo and combed it out with my head upside down in the shower. Normally combing out freshly shampooed hair would be a disaster for me but somehow my hair was not tangly at all. Leaving my head in an upside down position, I got of the shower and scrunched in about 2 1/2 handfuls of Paul Mitchell sculpting foam. (Once again, working with the products I've got left.) Then, I parted my hair and combed it out away from the scalp (as demonstrated in the super soaker technique). At this point I cupped and scrunched water into my curls as also demonstrated in the super soaker technique but didn't follow through with any gel. I think it rinsed some of the mousse out, lol. But...I'm still learning.

I got one of my husband's old t shirts and did my first plop! It didn't come out exactly as I wanted it to and had to clip the ends together on top of my head but it held so I just went with it. Left the plop on for about 10 minutes, and when I took it off I couldn't believe how curly my waves were. I then proceeded to ruin it all by diffusing my hair and the rest of the day had flat, greasy looking frizzy hair. Ha! BUT, I must say, it did look great right when I took the plop off and immediately after diffusing it (then it turned ugly when completely dry).

Seriously need to start taking pictures to document my experiments!
Today I cowashed with vo5 volumizing condish. Put in a protein treatment for 20 min. Rinsed and put in some one c, finger combed. Rinsed upside down with cold water. Combed back side out since my hair is long and it ends up funky if I don't. Used JCNS on my ends, then a little cure care, and a spritz of loreal Everstyle beach wave spray. Scrunched out water with a microfiber towel. Then added my morrocan curl mousse to roots and started scrunching in the mousse. Plopped for a bit (10 min) and then took out an diffused upside down. After dry, sprayed with curly sexy mousse and diffused to set and add volume. ImageUploadedByCurlTalk1365279445.438536.jpg
