So 2's what did you do to your hair today?

Like Tree296Likes

I had a trim and lowlights early this week, and forgot to bring my own hair stuff, so my stylist used Brocato CurlKarma to style. It did look nice, but it has Dimethicone in it. I waited two days anyway, before I washed (kind of lowpooed) just putting a little Bioinfusion Rosemary mint shampoo on my scalp and Suave Coconut on the length. Then I rinsed and deep conditioned under the dryer with Garnier triple Nutrition covered with a shower cap for 10 minutes. Rinsed that out and drenched with a blob of GTN and a blob of Dep
sport Texture gel mixed together in a pint of water.
Squished until it clumped, scrunched out some water with
a microfiber towel, clipped the top and dried 15 min under the dryer.
Absolutely great results. root lift, clumping, nice even curls and waviness, no frizz.

I am crwritt are you??

Today we have a get together with my extended family. So I used No poo (it'd been awhile since I used it) twice and then some DM deeply rooted, then CJ smoothing mixed with CJ beauticurls daily. Then CJ beauticurls LI (a lot!) on dripping hair and CIAB (a lot of it too), plopped only long enough to get dressed then clipped. It's air drying now; I'll update later after I diffuse.

Try not to sweat it too much. I know that to us, even minor changes in our curls are cause for much celebration or much mourning, but I've learned that most others don't notice the difference between good and bad hair days -- not even my boyfriend, who notices everything!

Plus, your hair has already picked up a ton of curl! I'm in the same boat, though, always looking to make it better. I try to focus on the positives of my hair, and when I'm having a hard time with that, I'll look at old pics and see how far I've come already. Always lifts my mood.

Looking at old pictures definitely helps... and i've got pictures from every day of CG so far! (Again.. obsessed, lol). It's definitely improved So much already. Progress doesn't bother me so much as set backs though, if that makes sense.

I got the CIAB to work if I use Curl Rehab as a leave in and lots of it too. Seems to work really well for me as a leave in. Can't wait to finish this bottle so I can get the strawberry scent (chose the Gardenia which I don't like at all)

Do you use more of the Beauticurls LI than you would of the CALI? Maybe that's my problem?

None of the Beauticurls or the Smoothing works very well on my hair. I'm getting frizz and flyaways and very strange curls even with proven enhancers and gels over it.

All advice would be appreciated. I love so much of the other CJ stuff I'm bummed this doesn't work.

Hopefully I can keep being an example! I've been wanting to grow out my hair for 4 years now, but every time it gets past shoulder length, I cave and get it cut to chin length! I'm determined now though, and have told my husband that under NO circumstances is he allowed to let me change my mind and get any length chopped off!!

I did have super long hair (hip length) as I grew it from 1995-2005 with no cuts at all for 10 years. Not even trims. I don't get split ends so it wasn't a problem. My ex LOVED long hair so I grew it. I always kept it back because it was just a bother to me..always in the way. BUT I had 2 little kids as well. They also used to play with it and pull it..so that affected me as well. I think my hair is just too thin to go super long again.

The day after I said "I'm leaving" I went and got my hair chopped off to my chin. I guess it was my parting salvo.

Third day air-drying. Same KCCC/HESMU mousse/HETT gel combo.

I plopped for about 40 minutes, then let it air dry the rest of the way.

I like this look -- it's softer. I don't get quite as much wave, but what I do get doesn't fall when I SOTC.

I may try it next time without the KCCC and see how it turns out.

Anyway, here are the daily pics!

Your hair looks great, finale!

I didn't try Burt's Bees again today, instead I tried V05 again, but with cutting the scrubbing time, again.

My head definitely still feels less irritated, so i'm almost certain right now that I was just scrubbing for too long. Though the V05 does have a detergent like smell, to me anyway. Reminds me of the dish washing soap my mother uses back in England, lol.

I tried not plopping for the first time today. Instead I just scrunched out some water with a t-shirt before letting it air dry. I thought maybe it would help with making the back of my hair a little curlier. It didn't work at all, though. I didn't end up with the oddly shaped curls I sometimes get at the front from plopping, but my wave was just as weak in the back as when I plop, if not more so, so I won't try that again!

I'm thinking I might try a PT/DT soon, though i'm still not convinced if I need one or not. And I've still not figured out my porosity. The test sounds so simple, but I'm not sure about it at all, lol.

[quote=rymorg2;1205282]I am crwritt are you??

Today we have a get together with my extended family.

We do that Christmas Eve,then Christmas day dinner with the inlaws, then our daughter and her family travel out of state to her inlaws, then later this week our son
is home for a few days so we'll have sort of a Christmas party then. Then comes New Years.

I'll say my hair looked great last night (Christmas Eve)
and just a little fly away this morning. If I have time i'll
wet it all down again and sit under the dryer, If not I'll just mist it and add a little gel.
After seeing a comment about an old and new formula of Garnier Sleek and Shine leave in, I decided to check mine... and never noticed before that it has Amodimethicone in it!! I've searched through a lot of threads, though still kinda confused about it. I know people who low poo (which I don't) are probably ok with it, as there's an ingredient in some shampoos that will get it out. I also read if there's certain other ingredients in with the amodimethicone, then it's water soluble, or something. I'm still not sure if i'm ok to use it or not.

Anyway, I decided today to low poo for once and instead of using the Sleek and Shine, use a little bit of Triple Nutrition as leave in too.

I can't see it made much of a difference really, to the shine or texture of my hair, though my wave starts much further down today than usual and as a result my hair is flatter than usual. I'm not hating it, though.

In a wonderful twist, because my hair enjoys being a pain in the ass I had my husband take a picture of the underneath of my hair too, and that's the opposite! It's much wavier/curlier than usual.

Also have a question. I know some people have a mix of curl/wave types throughout their hair. Though usually, from what I've read, they have a different type say, at the crown, or underneath. Well, my hair is less wavy on the right than on the left. Just wondering if anyone has a similar issue and any advice on how to get the less wavy side to wave more.

Here's a pic of it. Right side on the left. Though it's not as obvious in these pictures as it is in person.

(I'm sorry about the long posts and questions I ask in here. If it's not ok, let me know. I just would rather post them in here than keep making new threads)

You're right, it's not as obvious in the photos. It doesn't look bad at all to me. I have the same issue with my right side having more wave than my left, to the point where my left side can be almost straight. The best thing I've discovered so far is diffusing. It makes my entire head more wavy, which therefore helps that left side.
Euterpe, I LOVE that ringlet you get in the back.

My under-side has been extra wavy lately, too (I've got 3A ringlets under there) while my canopy has been so-so. And, like you, my left side is wavier than my right side. I doubt anyone but us notices.

As for what I did to my hair -- absolutely nothing. I left for the airport at 5am, so hair was pretty much the last thing on my poor tired mind.

Well, today, since I'm bored, I washed with a sulfate shampoo, and used a dimethicone conditioner. I have waves, but few curls. It actually came out well.
Second day hair. Got it damp and scrunched in a little bit of aloe vera gel. These are the results. (Sisters and I were being a little nuts, thus the wardrobe).

Cleanser: Liquid Castile Soap diluted in a foaming soap dispenser
Rinse:
ACV rinse
Detangler/Conditioner:
Oyin Handmade Greg Juice or Juices and Berries
Stylers: Botticelli Botanicals Styling Mudd, KCCC, Honey Rinses and BRHG, Crack Leave-in Hair Cream when straightening

Tools: Silk pillowcase, Floursack towels, Jersey T-Shirts, Wide Tooth Comb, Velecta Paramount TGR-VQX Hair Dryer (for when I straighten) and BaByliss PRO Ionic Rollabout Hard Hat Dryer
I think i'm slowly dominating this thread with my rambling and huge ass pictures, lol. Sorry!

Today I tried using Triple Nutrition as my leave in again (as i'm still not sure about my GF Sleek and Shine with the Amodimethicone in). I wasn't completely in love with it the other day, but wondered if that's because i'd used Burt's Bees shampoo that day, and my hair doesn't seem to like that or the conditioner.

I also tried smoothing the leave in in, instead of raking.

Over all I think it really turned out well, though i'm not sure why. Whether it was because of not using BB, because of smoothing, or because of using TN instead of GFSS.

The one thing I definitely like about it is that not so much of my curl/wave fell out as the day went on. Still more than I would like, but i'd say that I got about half the fall out, if that's what you'd call it, that I usually do.

Pictures on the left are from right after I SOTC, pictures on the right are from about 7 hours later.

And that was after it got blown about a bit in the wind/smooshed in my coat earlier when I went grocery shopping!

For some reason, it took less time to dry today, also. I usually wait until 2 - 3 hours after i've taken my hair out of a plop to SOTC (impatient!) and it's usually still pretty damp at the back, even wet in some places. Today I waited only 2 hours and aside from one damp clump, it was completely dry!

Now to see if I have the patience to spend the next couple of days figuring out exactly what helped

Curls=Beauty, your hair looks great! I wish so much that I could get second day hair that looks half as good as that! I move around in my sleep way too much, my hair is more straight than wavy/curly by the time I wake up!

C=B--agreed! So cute and fun looking too!! Gorgeous as always!

E--that pic on the left is awesome..look at the nice volume you've got on the sides with the curl. I think really you just lost a little volume and curl..could also be the weight of your hair..it looks pretty thick and, for lack of better word, heavy.

I really think a cut with a few layers (not too high up mind you) would free up a lot of weight and curl..you're getting one soon right?

We find with my daughter's that the more kind of spirally ringlet's on the bottom the less volume. You can see it in the pics of her I've posted and on my blog..you've got some more spiral bottom curls and could be that weighs it down a little as well. When Tahia's hair is wavy (like in the Pikistip) you would be amazed at how much volume she had!

I used Hairveda Amala Cream Rinse then used Jasmines Babassu Condish as rinse out and the Moisture renewal condish as a leave in. Used DB NCCJ and a little bit of Abba Gel.

Not the most consistent of curl today but very nice body .. although I think its hard to see it with the top down view doing my own pic's.

Anyway tomorrow is another experimentation day!

It could very well be the weight. Last time I had my hair cut (over a year ago) I asked for the longest layers possible as at that time, I still thought my hair was just messy straight hair, and short layers just made it even worse. I haven't had a haircut in a while as, as i've mentioned, I want to grow my hair out, and I know how I am. Even if I resolve myself to not get any length taken off, the second I step foot in the salon, I decide to throw that out of the window and get inches taken off, lol. No self control! Plus I really don't get split ends (I don't think I even have any now) so it's not been something i've really thought about lately.

Also, the thought of getting my hair cut kinda scares me. I don't know how it would go. I don't know if as a wavy my hair could just be cut as straight. Or if it would make some difference that i'm wavy/curly. And then I wonder how that would go, considering I have to do all this work so my hair doesn't turn into a mess.

Yeah, I worry about it all too much, lol. I'm hoping that one day I'll make a post that's so awesome it will completely erase the memory of all these posts i've made where I come across as a complete idiot
