So 2's what did you do to your hair today?

Like Tree296Likes

I was meeting up with the lovely Elita this morning to do a swap, so I tried my hand at 2nd day hair (because I am going to wash and do my hair with the new stuff while my son is napping).

I NEVER try 2nd day hair because when I wake up it is pretty flat. I have been noticing that I have been waking up with more wave than usual though. So, I scrunched some water in, then scrunched in SN Aloe and Water Lily. Then, because it looked pretty frizzy, I smoothed and scrunched in some AOMM.

It's not the best and it is pretty frizzy - definitely not as good as a "normal" day.

My Curls for Target and SheaM is supposed to be delivered today, and I got "curl refreshers" with those so maybe those will help with the frizz for 2nd day hair (If I ever decide to try again...).

I am off to try my new stuff

This is day 3 with the Curls stylers and I think I should have given my hair a break from them. My hair looked and felt really nice when wet but started to feel rough and dry as the day went on. I ended up putting my hair up and now I'm trying to figure out how I should fix it.

Not only is this my first post on this forum, but I took the plunge and had my first Deva Cut today. I am so happy!

It had been about 10 weeks since my last hair cut, a straight cut, of course, as it was pre-CG.

I will attempt to include some "before" pics. My avatar is the "after."

2a with 3a mixed in. Fine, thin hair; straight at crown for 2 inches, then curl. Clips are my friend or I'd have no volume on top. Currently using DevaCurl line. Also love aloe vera gel and KCCC. CG since Feb 2010. First Deva Cut April 2, 2010.
Oh my! What a difference. Were you straightening your hair before?

Thanks, it got drier throughout the day and I didn't like how it felt. I'm thinking now that the products had too much aloe for the current dewpoints and I used them 3 days in a row.

I ended up doing an ACV rinse last night and a DT this morning. My hair feels very soft and silky with no product and I'm giving my hair a break today. Hopefully it will be back to normal tomorrow.

Today was my first real try at 2nd day hair, although not intentionally (I got a phone call from my parents first thing this morning saying they were already on their way over, which meant no time to wash and dry my hair )

I'll start by saying I wasn't planning to do anything important this long weekend and figured it was a good time to experiment, especially with things I hadn't been overly impressed on with the first try. I had no intention of trying 2nd day hair, and probably wouldn't have used this combo had I known.

Yesterday I washed (HCC) conditioned (TIGI OH), rinsed the OH completely and instead of my normal LI, I added some of my free sample of CCCC, followed by BRHG for extra hold. I diffused (since I didn't last time) and the results were good (although not extraordinary). I got good clumps, better than with other stuff I tried, but there was frizz on top (I do wonder whether that is from the protein in the OH, since my hair did so well with the CR the other day).

I don't know whether it was from using too much CCCC (I think used more than I should have) or its just been too long since I last low poo-ed, but last night I could feel my scalp was getting a little gross. So I put my hair up with a normal hair elastic in a messy bun-like thing to keep my gross hair away from my face with every intention of washing it immediately when I got up... which of course didn't happen.

But surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I expected. I was really surprised to find when I got up that my hair was still wavy, wavier than when I've pinnappled or plopped, or used a silk cap overnight... I don't know whether to credit that to the messy bun-thing I did, or the CCCC, or both.

So that I might be somewhat presentable when I went out, I sprayed my hair with some water, mixed a little recoil with about a quarter size amount of water and scrunched it in. Once it dried I wasn't overly impressed. The scrunching had broken up the clumps so the individual waves were thinner... it did still have a beachy wave thing going... but I had a huge halo of frizz on the top. So I mixed a little CIAB with a little water and scrunched that in. The results, still frizzy on top (although less so) and a little on the limp side (Not unexpected for 2nd day hair), but not so bad it looked dirty or slept on.

So the moral of the story is I definitely need to experiment more with 2nd day hair and CCCC (I also have a sample of CCCC lite to compare it to one of these days) but given the initial results it looks like another product to buy

But I'm now wondering if there is another conditioner that anyone can recommend that is like CJCR, since I don't think the Tigi MM is moisturising enough, despite the name. I tried GFSS which Alexjoujou had in the same category on the conditioner scale, but I wasn't overly impressed. I was tempted to buy the GFTN, but I don't know if it will be to heavy... I may continue to use the CJCR as a rinse out, but given how fast I went through the OH, and how small the jars of CR are... I've been debating about trying the CJ smoothing conditioner for a while so that might be my next buy.

Of course, if anyone has any recommendations... TIA
Today I cowashed with suave coconut, GFTT on the length. Used SC as LI with Terax Life Drops. Then styled with HETT mousse and catwalk curl boost spray. Diffused about 50% and SOTC with GF wax....

The combo really defined my curls! I think my hair is a tad over conditioned though, so I will low poo tomorrow and try the combo again. : )

My hair loves protein, plopping, and diffusing! Trying to find a way to style and air dry.
Today I lowpoo'd with my color-depositing lowpoo, then used Tresseme Naturals Moisture condish as a rinse-out. Left a little in, along with some of the SS PT. Plopped, then used Ecostyler.

My waves have looked pretty good since I haven't been as lazy with the protein lately. Must remember to keep that up.

I got my new Curls for Target stuff on Friday, so I used it today. I used the Cream Brule under the Goddess Curl Gel. The Cream Brule is a little too heavy for me, as most creams end up being, jellies always work better. I'll try the Goddess Gel over something else later in the week (tomorrow I will have to use something I know will work ).

Took my overnight plop off to good results this morning and reluctantly went into work. Haven't done anything else today. Tomorrow will probably be a refresher with some gel.

I tried SS CEJ under the Curls for Target Goddess Curl Gel...not so sure I like it. I used it the other day with the Cream Brule under it and thought the weighed down look was from the Brule (it may have been a contributing factor), but I think this had a hand in it too.

I'm not too sure about it. My hair feels great, but doesn't look great.

KMF UM has spoiled me.

I need to try that KMF gel, you keep talking about it!!

The KMF UM was working really well in the lower dews, but I think I'll need to find something for the higher dews. I've been getting frizz with it, and I NEVER got frizz before. Same thing with my EcoStyler Krystal - better in low dews .

I am going to try the CIAB and CCCC lite tomorrow to see how I like them. I missed the CJ sale, but I can still get it from aveyou.com at 15% off and $1 shipping with a coupon code.

I've been trying to get a handle on this CG thing, but it's driving me crazy trying to figure out what my hair needs.

Anyway, yesterday it was definitely super fluffy and over-conditioned. So, using that as my starting point, I shampooed with GTTTT and conditioned with GFTN but rinsed it all out after 30 seconds.

Today I have my hair in a ponytail since I'm at work, but it feels really good. I took it out briefly and it was very shiny and had nice waves (except for the flat part from the ponytail). I think I need to back off the conditioner in general. Not sure if I'll cowash or water wash tomorrow.
