CG friendly wax/paste/pomade???
Can anyone suggest a CG-friendly finishing wax/paste/pomade type product?
I used to use Garnier Fructis wax after diffusing to help tame down my flyaway hairs and define my waves, while scrunching OTC. It also had some hold. I *loved* it, but it's got silicone.
I am really looking for something else to do a similar job. Currently I am using Loreal Studio Architect wax, it seems to be CG and washes out ok, but I don't love it.
I have fine hair, but lots of it, in a mid-neck length bob. Something a little buttery/ moisturzing would be nice too.

I use and really like the John Masters Organics Hair Pomade, which was sold at Curl Mart. It is CG. I just checked and John Masters products aren't currently available at Curl Mart. You can find it online either at www.johnmasters.com or other sites.
Here are the ingredients:
Olea europaea (olive) oil,* organic apis mellifera (beeswax), mangifera indica (mango) butter, orbygnia speciosa (babassu) oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil,* triticum vulgare (wheat germ) oil,* laurus nobilis (bay laurel) oil, cedrus atlantica (cedar atlas) oil,† abies balsamea (fir balsam) oil,* cryptocaria massoia (massoia) oil, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate & ascorbyl palmitate (vitamins A, C, E)
You could also try a product with similar ingredients. I have seen Burt's Bees Miracle salve at Target and have thought that when my John Masters pomade runs out, I'll give that a try. Cheaper and you're not having to order online. It is made for "dry hair and skin." Here are the ingredients. As you can see, they are similar to the John Masters:
Ingredients: olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, beeswax, cucurbita pepo (pumpkin) seed extract, pollen extract, glycine soja (soybean) seed extract, olea europaea (olive) fruit extract, triticum vulgare (wheat) germ extract, adenophora stricta (ladybell) root extract
I have fine hair too, and of course, with products like these, a little goes a long way. I just use the pomade to SOTC and to touch up dry flyaway areas.

CG since Jan 09. As of Sept 09, testing a-cone and bis-aminopropyl dimethicone, with lowpoos twice a week. As of June 2010, using sulfates more often.
For me, desert climate+porous hair+CG=inconsistent results!
Playing around with no leave-in. My hair doesn't seem to be missing it.

tendrilly, do you have any issues with beeswax building up or being hard to wash out of your hair?
I know The Body Shop has a texturizing wax made with beeswax as well as a coconut oil wax containing beeswax. I was afraid to try them because of this ingredient.
I think I have seen the John Masters pomade somewhere....like maybe Shoppers Drug Mart (I live in Canada). I am going to check that out!

The body shop stuff has cones. I can't remember if they're water soluble or not. But I know there are some cones there.

If you don't mind mineral oil, Got2Be "Playful" Pomade is CG. I use it in my bangs nowadays, but I used to run a little through my hair. It's cheap and found in drugstores, so it's not a total loss if you don't like it.

No, I haven't had any problems with the beeswax. (I do low-poo a couple of times a week so maybe that is helping me avoid buildup?) Everyone is different though...
FWIW, I checked and CurlMart does still have this pomade (which I have not tried): http://www.curlmart.com/MOP-Glisten-...ade-p-930.html
It has a lot more going on with its ingredients list though, so you may not like what you see there.
I like Suji's idea of trying a cheap one -- not so painful if you don't like it.
Good luck!

There's also this "finishing paste":
http://www.curlmart.com/MOP-C-System...ste-p-920.html
My stylist used a tiny bit on a teeny patch on my scalp to train my bangs to stay in one direction. It seemed to wash out just fine.
I wonder if a hair butter might work the same way? I haven't tried it yet but if I do, I will report back.

fx molding wax is CG. I used it pre cg for a piecey rock and roll look with straight hair. I haven't used it much post CG. It is very waxy.

Has anyone tried the devacurl pomade? Called Set up and Above? or Set Me Up, or something like that?

Peda, do you have a pic of your rocker 'do? I'd love to see it.

I do have pics, but they don't show the hair very well. It's nothing you haven't seen before. Just fix the hair straight (best flat ironed) and add wax to the bottom few inches. Grab a few sections and twist the hair in your fingers. For make-up I do a smokey eye and muted lip.

A few notes.
1. Hair looks stringy in the pic but was cute in person.
2. My choices when taking pictures of myself are either the uncomfortable look or the silly America's Next Top Model look. I'm "smizing".
PM me if you are interested in the look. I'll send you a link on how to do it. For safety reasons, I'll only send you a link if you post here often and I "know" you. A bit irrational, I know. But I feel this place is a little to public to post a link.

-Um, just realized the pic with the vague explanation makes it seem like there is something shady going on. Pic is for a blog post on how to apply eye shadow.

Back at you WW. My hair is not like yours on paper, but my pre cg hair looks a little like your pre cg hair. I'm hoping my hair might "grow up" to look like yours. I always eye the pic in your siggy and think you are so pretty.
