Confession time!
Okay ladies -- YOU all know that you do something to your hair that isn't CG approved (or possibly borderline iffy). You've tried a product out of frustration, or you do something backwards from CG rules. You ACV more than 1x a week -- or you horror of horrors, used real shampoo.
Were you sorry? or do you secretly continue the process without telling us? mwahahaha.
I'll start. I use hairspray with denatured alcohol in it. AT least 1x a week. I also *gasp* don't use conditioner. I'll low-poo and just use a leave in. I also use a sulfate clarifying shampoo a lot (never more than 1x a week). Though lately -- a lot less. Switched to the low-poo/leave in thing, and I seem to get a lot less build up.
Or alternately, if you are a CG Angel, and you have broken no CG rules -- you can tell us a story about your biggest CG mess -- like when you overproteined and came out with straw for hair, or you used olive oil for a deep treat and after pooing used a vinegar rinse -- thus smelling like a salad for days.
Come on ladies -- its Confession time!!

- I diffuse my hair dry. All the time. My hair is below my shoulders now and I cannot stand to have wet hair on my back.
- I touch my hair whenever I feel like it while it is drying.
- I occasionally still blow dry it straight just for funsies. I don't flat iron it though.
I don't use 'cones, hairspray (blech..never have), or sulfates though. I think the nearly daily diffusing is my biggest issue though. I know I'm drying my hair out with the heat. I need a 12-step program to help me quit.

I can't. stop. touching. my. hair.
And I fondly recall the days of really lathering and scrubbing and toweldrying my hair. I miss a really good shampooing.
I can't use leave in--it's just not for me.

i've been using sulfates lately. i don't plan on continuing, but it's helped me quickly deal with the build up i was getting. oh, and i dry brush before washing sometimes. it just takes too long to de-tangle in the shower--it can take over five minutes and i feel like i'm wasting water!

I diffuse until dry. If I don't my waves will fall.
I will point the nozzle of the hair dryer directly at the roots of my hair for volume. I keep the hair dryer on low, so I don't think it is that bad.
Sometimes I pull out the curling iron and fix a few curls.
I've been thinking about buying some hairspray lately. I never used much even pre CG, but sometimes a girl just wants a spritz.
I'm not an angel, but I'm telling a quick story anyway. I once did a DT with honey. Rinsed leaning over the tub. Did a vinegar rinse. Evidently when leaning over the tub I didn't rinse the front of my hair well enough. Honey + vinegar=chemical reaction. I had burns on my scalp like I had with 80's perms.

OUCH.
I also diffuse, especially when I'm in a hurry. I try to keep the heat off, or on low, but sometimes ...
I haven't done anything truly against my modified CG-dom since starting, but I also have only been at this for about 7 weeks. I DO have a SLES shampoo hanging out in my medicine cabinet, just in case I get some stubborn build up.
I suppose the most horrible CG-friendly thing I've done to my poor hair is mineral oil + protein overload at the same time. It was ... interesting. Both limp and straw-like at the same time.

hmmm... let see my "no no's" of late;
- I used hair spray today - was fed up with my hair and wanted to tie it back and it kept falling out even with gel!
- atm I do blow dry almost straight a lot of the time for work;I never blow dry, dry though
- i have been known to use a fine toothed comb or brush every now and then (either for my scalp or just cos) on dry hair!!
I did get over conditioned when I first started cg I was using biolage conditioning balm way to often...my hair was soo soft but frizzy, felt producty and lost my waves - it was so yuck and weird! Honey and or KY (aka CK) just makes my hair look greasy and dirty...
That's all i can think of for now...I'm sure there's lots more!

* I've used a sulfate shampoo--Nexxus Aloe Rid..while my hair was fine with it my skin freaked out majorly. It was like oil field for a week! BUT I still keep it around for build up and stuff.
* I've used baking soda in my hair exactly once. After I did that I used an ACV. My hair was like Medusa's for 2 weeks. It was awful (some of y'all might remember) I thought I was going to end up doing a BC to the scalp. Terrible. Awful. Terrible. Tragic. NEVER again!
* I touch my hair all the time all the time...not only when its drying.
* I've been known to encourage a bit of frizz for some volume--that's o.k. with me..unless someone getting too close they don't realize its frizz
Overall though I've been pretty good. I do low poo and use the poo bars so I'm already "breaking" the CG rules by not doing only conditioner washing.
Now true confessions time for ME would have far more to do with the sheer amount of product sitting on my bathroom counter, in my shower, under my sink, on my bookcase, under my kids bathroom sink and in my car. I am a wicked PJ and I love to encourage other PJ's (of course it makes me not feel so bad! )

I don't have any product confessions, though i'm only a month and a half in to CG right now, so there's still time
I will second (third? fourth?) the hair touching, though! If I'm going out and want it to look it's best, i'll resist the urge.. but other than that, I relentlessly touch my hair... wet or dry. I can't help it, it's all too new to me and I love twirling my front curls around my fingers.
To add to this, though, is the fact that if my husband even looks like he's /thinking/ about touching my hair, he will get yelled at.
Yeah, i'm horrid, lol.

I play with cones about once a month. Just to see if they still suck. The first day is always good and lures me in. The second day crashes and burns with flat limp straight hair. Then I have to shampoo to get them out. But each time I think "maybe this product will be better" =) I also am obsessed with touching my hair while it's drying.

I like variety, so I go through stages of blow drying straight, especially like now when I have to get up REALLY early anyway and don't have time to dry it, so I do it the night before. I use cones occasionally, but only use a non sulfate shampoo to get it out, and even have a sulfate free clarifying shampoo that works. VERY occasionally I will use a sulfate shampoo but that's maybe once every six months or so? I touch my hair all the time too.
All in all, I don't feel like I'm mistreating my hair though. I don't flat iron (except maybe once every six months for a truly special occasion) daily anymore, and my hair looks and feels better, and in my business I have to have versatility.

I used a sulfate shampoo every couple weeks when I first started CG. I was experimenting a lot with products and ingredients and I got buildup often (I finally figured it was whenever I used something with castor oil)
I straightened my hair often in the fall (usually when I had a very busy day and I did not have time to mess with it all day). I discovered that I could place the fingers of the bowl diffuser very close to my scalp and pull my hair straight at the same time. It was not perfect but my hair felt so much softer than when I used cones and a flat iron.

OOH I miss hairspray. I mean it made awful horrible tangles and tore up my hair a little but before I could have glorious big curls all day, absolutely un-touchable because they were yucky feeling but great to look at.
Now the hair feels so much better but when it looks good I can't freeze it where it is and keep it looking good. It suffers entropy.
I want hairspray.
Back on topic, I regular-shampoo occasionally, diffuse dry whenever I have the time, and comb gel into the hair in sections instead of scrunching in.

I occasionally:
1. Use hairspray (try to keep it to 1x a week)
2. Use a curling iron (2x a month)
3. Flat iron my nags (a couple of times a week)
4. Tease my hair (only for special occasions)
I DT, diffuse only a couple times a week, and rotate how I wear my hair up to avoid breakage. That said, I'm not sorry for my cg sins-what's the point of obsessing over your hair if you can't have fun with it.

So..um...I kinda fell off the CG wagon. I got sick of long curly hair about 6 months ago. I currently have a short a-line, which I flat iron, although I also wear it wavy sometimes. I still use sulfate-free poos (I'm madly in love with the Bodyshop's rainforest moisture) and silicone free conditioners.

Funny thread! I tried to go hardcore CG for a while, and the water here just isn't going to let me. And I'm just too lazy to deal with some filter for the shower head. So, I use sulphates occasionally to remove buildup. I heavily oil as a pre-poo first, it seems to help possibly break up the gunk before the shampoo.
I use the a-cone infrequently, it's in the ApHogee 2-step PT and Hair One (Sally's Wen dupe). I onlyuse the Hair One when I want to wear my hair straight, the a-cone is good at protecting my hair for the continuous brushing of a blow-out. I don't flat iron my whole head, only stubborn pieces because I can do a decent blow out and I am not good with a flat iron!
This isn't CG, but it's a wonderful refresher for me: http://www.sallybeauty.com/Finishing...efault,pd.html. Just a thought for the hairspray users. It doesn't dry like hairspray does, thoguh. Just kind of refreshes what you already have in it.
The diffuser: my curls are definately diffuser dependent. I use high heat and high air flow. Every single time I try to be more nice, I get wonky curls. On curly days though with a diffuser, I'm good about using shea/oils to scrunch out the crunch and heat that in a bit at the end, and it seems to help my hair from drying out as badly. I also don't do my curls everyday as far as styling, I just do the LI and looser beachy waves on other days out of laziness.

I always, always, always SOTC before my hair is dry. I airdry all the time -- just don't have great results any other way -- and I can't stand having that drowned rat look in public. Even just a little bit of scrunching makes a huge difference. I probably pay for it, in frizz, but I don't care!

I too touch my hair constantly, always have, always will
I low-poo everyday...I just love freshly washed hair.
I straighten (blow dry and flat iron) every once and a while (the benefit of being a wavy in my eyes). Matter of fact, I just did on Saturday. But I air dry every day I wear it wavy so I feel it makes up for the heat damage when I straighten
I don't rinse with cold water...I just don't see the difference, and I am not freezing my butt off in the shower if there isn't a noticeable difference.

I touch my hair ALL THE TIME. Whether it is wet or dry. But if anyone else tried to touch it they will get yelled at.
I sometimes comb it while it is dry (but only right before I shower).
I use an ACV rinse twice a week.
I use a regular towel sometimes.

Lets seeeee...
** I alternate between using head and shoulders and using a low poo every single day. I used to do every other day with low poo, but my scalp gets SO DRY that if I don't, my scalp gets really flaky.
** I used hairspray on halloween. I was audrey hepburn and HAD to get the hair right.
** I flat iron my hair sometimes :S Except I think I have done it less than 10 times since going CG (way different than how I used to do it every day)
** I diffuse pretty much every day.. my curls are all droopy without it... like they're sad or something
I guess I have been pretty good though.. except for the shampoo I use every other day!
