Product Recommendations?

Hi. I really don't want to spend a fortune on hair products but as I live in Australia, I have to order most products online.

I've found the range on curlmart OVERWHELMING. I was considering trying KCCC, Kinky-Curly Knot Today and maybe Kinky-Curly Gloss Pomade. Apparently Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper and AG Re:coil work well together... Anyway, I was wondering which of these products (and what combinations) you use or think are the best for 2a/b hair.

At the moment, my hair feels dry, limp and frizzy. I want to hear about what works for you guys

(Also, thanks for all the replied to my previous thread. It was very helpful)
I'm not familiar with these products, but plenty of people here are. They can help you choose if you can answer some of these questions. If you don't know the answers, don't stress.
Is your hair
Thin, Medium, or Thick (# of hairs on head)
Fine, Medium, or Coarse (circumference of each individual hair)
Porosity. Low, normal, or high
Look at this link and see if any of the descriptions seem to fit your hair.

User Kathy Mack sells sample sizes of products so you can try before you buy. I have no idea if she ships to Australia.

1. Thin
2. Fine
3. Quite porous, I would say. Medium-high to high. Actually, my hair seems quite a bit like yours. My hair really likes an oil and honey mixture. That's really the only thing that has given me soft, beautiful curls :/ I'm finding this kind of frustrating.
It's Saturday night over here and there doesn't seem to be a lot of people posting. I'm sure you will get replies later, probably tomorrow. In the mean time user alexjoujou has a blog. Her hair is also thin, fine, and porous. She does great product reviews on her blog, and has probably reviewed some of the products if you are interested in checking it out.

My hair is fine and thin -- but I don't have a lot of luck with any of the things you've listed. Don't let that dissuade you though, a lot of fine/thin gals do have luck with those products.

The big difference between me and other curlies is that my scalp isn't really dry. I have a lot of grease going on, so I don't need the heavy condishes that they use. I second going to check out Alex's blog, because that really where I steal most of my information from hehe.

I love the Darcy's Coiling Jelly (not sure about international shipping) and quite a few Sally's products. The KCCC was just too much for my hair.

Thanks guys! You both have beautiful hair! I wish mine looked like that.
I think you might need a dash of protein.

It helps with the limp fuzzies in my hair, anyway.

I like aphogee, I don't know what you can get there-maybe you can order something like it from curlmart?

Lo19, I completely agree that the selection on Curlmart, as well as the huge number of posts from people regarding their routines can be super duper overwhelming when first looking into this whole CG thing. I have been CG since last August, so I am by no means an expert, but I have used the Kinky Curly products, and can offer you my experience. I, personally, did not like them. I used the Knot Today Leave-in and the Curling Custard to no avail. The Knot Today pulls all the curl out of my hair (perhaps too much slip?) while the Curling Custard makes my hair look a bit stringy but at the same time a bit frizzy. I have tried both products together, by themselves, and I have tried the Custard with a different leave-in and another gel on top for more hold, all with similar, disappointing results. It seems (as a result of my very unscientific observations) that the majority of people who love these products have far more curly hair than we do (I see lots of 4s claim these to be their HG), and it may be that they are too heavy/producty for me.

So, for what it's worth, that's my experience with those products. I hope it helps, rather than making things more confusing!

And, I'm a pig, I only put my best pics on the internet! ha! Though sometimes I see the ones I've put up of me without make-up and I'm like "I had to be high when I decided to post that".
