Default An Update - 2 weeks CG

A couple of weeks ago I first posted here...at the time I was using no cones in my styling products or rinse out, but was using a shampoo with cones and sulphates.

Well, I went CG on the 2nd of January. I've low-pooed twice in that time.

I'm using a really cheap co-wash, from the Boots Essentials range, its costs 55p and I love it.
My rinse out and leave in is the Garnier Repair and Shine, which I think is the Triple Nutrition in the US.

Then I style with Boots Pink Curl Creme, and either the Umberto Giannini gel, or the one from the Boots Essentials range (again, really cheap, costs around 90p and I love it as its water-based so no crunch or drying-out).

ATM, my routine is...brush (I know, BRUSH) my hair dry before getting in the shower (I HAVE to do this, combing when wet doesn't work for me), co-wash for age, scrunch in rinse-out conditioner, then when rinsing out conditioner, scrunch it. Sort out my parting, then scrunch out excess water with hands, before scrunching in a tiny bit of leave-in. Plop whilst I get dressed. Apply curl creme and gel, then plop for another 1-3 hours. Pixie-curl diffuse until almost dry, then smooth and scrunch (depending on frizz) a tiny amount of gel in.

Here are the advantages I've seen since going CG...
1. my nails are getting conditioner from the conditioner - might seem silly but its true!
2. my hair is softer
3. no split ends have appeared
4. more body
5. my hair actually feels cleaner
6. hair is way more moisturised
7. my top layer is getting less straight
8. less frizz
9. curls way more defined - i'm even thinking i could be a 2c!
10. and...my arms are getting toned as I really massage the co-wash in for ages.

I will try to post before and after pictures, but the only curly photos I have of me before this are when my hair is at its absolute best, and aren't really what my hair was normally like.

That's great to hear that CG is working so well for yoU!

You know, I've always wondered about what other CG stuff the Boot's stores had, no one ever talks about them. I had assumed for along time that there were NO CG condishes that Boot's made because no one ever mentioned them for co-wash. I had heard of the purple boots gel though heh.

I also occasionally hear of the white boots curl creme. What is the difference between the two?

I also like how you plop BEFORE you put in your products. I tried that several times, it didn't quite work. But I do scrunch it a billion times before I actually start to diffuse it -- and it seems to help.

Glad to hear things are going well. Fabulous.
You may not have to work quite so hard at the cowash. Then again if you have thick hair, maybe you do.
Also try adding the products before the plop and see what happens. You will have to see what works for you. For me before is better.
Some people here use a denman brush to detangle in the shower. You should find info on denmans if you do a search.
Sounds like you have a good routine figured out.

Wonderful that CG is working for you. It didn't work for me at all but I think it's a great way to go. I started plopping before applying products recently and it works much better for me.

I plop before and after plopping, mainly because it lets me get on with other stuff without dripping everywhere, and because otherwise my parting doesn't dry properly.

I do have thick hair, which is why I have to work so hard with the co-washing - I went to a new hairdressers the other month and she asked me why my old one had never tried thinning my hair...I told her she always thinned it, and it had only been thinned 4 weeks before, she couldn't believe it from how thick it was.

About the boots white curl creme - I don't know about that one. I know the pink one I use turns white when you rub it together in your hands. But they do do a white wax/finishing gel kind of thing, I know thats white. I don't know whether its CG and have never tried it...will look at the ingredients when I next go shopping
