keeping up with curls.

my hair is a mess right now ive been on the cg since sunday.

my hair on top is still dull and not holding any curl
where as the middle and sides are much more curly (like 3a curls) and the bottom when wet curl but when dry t falls flat.

what can i do to have my curly hair come together...
being on the cg my hair is different everyday. no matter even if i do the same thing.

what can i do to hold in the curls on the shaft and bottom..
what does my hair need?

Hair Loves: Have Not Figured that out yet!

Gosh, I wish I could help you, but I've just started myself. I started (for real) on Saturday---had stared earlier last week, but discovered my conditioner had 'cones. Anyway, I'm really loving my hair. I know that my hair was lacking a lot of moisture, so putting all that moisture back in has been fantastic.

Not sure what your routine is, but maybe your hair is more protein hungry? I'm sure the much more experienced curlies here will be able to help you trouble-shoot.
Mostly sure I'm a 2b/Mii
Just starting out (and brining the entire family along for the ride):
CO-wash...V05 Moisture Milks Passion Fruit Smoothie
Rinse-out Conditioner...Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner Moisture Works for Dry or Damaged Hair
Leave-in Conditioner...Garnier Fructis Leave-In Conditioning Cream Sleek and Shine
Gel...Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel
Wish me luck!
It took my hair a while to adjust. I didn't have any oiliness problems when I went CG, but it did take time to figure out what my hair liked and the best ways to style it.

The top part of your hair (known as the "canopy") is a problem area for many. It is the most exposed to the elements and bears the brunt of heat styling, so it will take a while for it to get healthy. Mine was dry and straight for quite a while, though it is finally looking better (I've been CG for 9 months now).

I would recommend doing regular deep treatments to get moisture back into it. If your hair is fine and/or porous, you may want to do a protein treatment.

As far as holding the curl, what kind of styling products are you using? Most wavies find a good hard-hold gel such as Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee or LA Looks Sport Gel works well to keep the curl shape all day.

I know it's all overwhelming at first, but read through the forums and experiment. You'll find out what your hair likes and dislikes.

I'd suggest you check this thread for someone with hair like yours, then steal their ideas.
I agree a hard hold gel will help with hold your falling curls. I love BRHG.
Scrunching your leave in and products into your hair may help. You should also look into plopping (plopping video)
and the pixie curl method.
what is the pixie curl diffusing method?
Your hair will likely get some of it's shine back eventually. Cones with a PEG in the name are water soluable. PEG cones add shine. HETT gel has PEG cones, but is only a medium hold. (a blog to help new wavies, go to the how do I get started page)
