I found a monster (33 page) thread in 4A.

Wish me luck-I'm trying this tonight.

Hey--so how'd it go??

Yes the 4A board has major monster threads on Ayurvedic herbs and Amla and Henna. They are really knowledgable and completely know these things!

I mix my amla with water but I know others who do conditioner + amla or coconut oil + amla... I think there are lots of possibilities.

So I mixed the stuff up before Cody and I went to my grandma's for dinner. (mmm....grandma dinner)

I didn't measure the water, just added enough to make a slightly runny frosting consistency. Think cake batter.

So you saw the pics of what I usually am, WITH product-http://s298.photobucket.com/albums/mm244/Laurel6123/Hair/

I slathered this stuff on my hair, it wasn't gross smelling or anything-I expected horse manure smell. (which really wouldn't have been bad) Naw. It smells earthy-like dirt. Don't expect it to slide through your hair though-It's like spreading mud, quite literally.
I had to shingle my hair to get all covered. That's unheard of.

I slathered some on my face for good measure too.

Let it set for about an hour-it was late so it wasn't quite. The stuff on my face got rock hard and shrinky-tight.

Rinsed it out in the sink-it wasn't easy to rinse out, but not impossible. Think aphogee reconstructor rinsing.

I slathered a bit of suave lilac lavender through to make sure I had it all, rinsed that out, and put a bit of Botticelli Botanicals smoothie in, then a good sized dollop of burt's bee's shea and grapefruit deep conditioner. Diffused (I hate sleeping on wet hair) and this is the result:

It's pretty close to what it looked like last night-I used BHRG this am, and it's curlier.

Definitely a repeat. Can't wait to see what happens next time. I think I might actually have CURLS when I get some length-I have some would be ringlets that are just too short.

OK, it's official. This stuff is awesome.

I have solid ringlets in the back of my head-which I have never had before, and my nape has some very 3bish stuff going on.

Maybe I'll get my after all!

Thanks for posting your usage and results. I've seen the monster 4A/B post but it's so hard to say how my hair would react in comparison.

Right now, I'm saying go for it. It's cheap, but man, my hair LOVES this stuff.

I can't wait for the weekend-I'm doing it again and I am NOT running out of my 'mud'!

gosh your hair is amazing and sooo adorable. I just realized we have almost the exact cut. Yours has more dimension than mine and is MUCH curlier. I think I need to pick me up some amla. HAIR envy, girl!! you rock the short cut.

LOL, thanks Wavy...the dimension though is an optical illusion...It came from a bottle. One more reason I love Nolan. The man may have no bloody idea how to handle curly hair (he always blows me straight), but he can give a color that will knock'em dead. He's brilliant that way. (And cheap too-cut + foils (2 colors) = $65!) (Did I mention he's a hottie too? A-may-zing blue eyes. Too bad he swings for the other team, darn it!)

And, I highly recommend ayurnaturals.com-I got my stuff really quickly.

I was gonna do it again last night, but I was pooped. Maybe tonight.

After seeing yours hair , I was determined to get my paws on some amla. I called 4-5 indian grocery stores in the area and non one had it, the 6th one did. Just went and got two packages and some shikai (whatever that stuff is called). So... do you use the entire package per use? if so, I probably should have bought more than 2.

Dang. My plan of just running to the Indian grocery store next time I visit my sister probably might not work. I may end up ordering after all.
