I'm so excited and I just can't hide it
I got in all of my sample products last night!! Of course I immediately took them all out, labeled what they were for and begun some fun!
I did a PT using Elucence Moisture Balance
Co-washed with my Suave Naturals Strawberry
Rinse out condish: Jasmines Shea Butter Cond
No leave in Condish this time. I wanted to see how my hair felt w/o it.
I used some Dutchess of Curls Gelly
Results : Best Hair day in a long time!
I loved loved loved Jasmines! It felt so silky and smooth. My hair feels very nice. We'll see how the ends hold out through out the day. The curling jelly did great! I scrunched it in while it was wet once it dried I scrunched it a little more. Even the root of my hair has some wave! Not a lot but some! It's always so bone straight. The ace of it all, my hair doesn't look stringy!
I'm so happy this morning I could hug and kiss everyone I see! LOL.
Thank You all for all of your help. Now my following post will have more questions ladies! Uh Oh!

Experimenting is fun!
I've never considered the Jasmine's because I felt it would be too heavy for me but I see your characteristics are very similar to mine.

Uh Oh! More Questions!
Alrighty ladies here's a couple of thoughts and questions I had floating in my head.
1. I swim just about every other day. Eeek the chlorine! I have been suggested to wet my hair and throwin some condish or coconut oil into my hair before I get into the pool. I've done this and it's done well!
So a thought I had. Cones are suppose to trap hair strands. I'm wondering if I used the coconut oil and then used a lighter -cone or -xane condish if that would hold up better in the pool? Afterwards I would rinse out very well and use my regular co-wash and conditioning methods. Thoughts???
2. Before I did CG I bought a boar bristle wooden brush. To my understanding it pulls moisture through the hair, but being curly it and break up curls. MY hair is very thin and fine and before CG using the brush actually helped. I was thinking that it may help to stimulate my scalp and hair if I brushed if before my showering routine. Never wet or in the AM, but before shower. I wonder if that may help also. Thoughts???
3. I'm a pretty low maintenance kind of girl. I don't blow dry ever. I might straighten it once in a blue moon, but other than that... styling my hair in the early am is about nil. It's scrunch and go but sometimes I'd like to try out new hair styles. Put it up someway etc. What are some QUICK and thin hair friendly styles I can try out. Oh and Easy. I'm a hair novice all the way around.
Well that's about it for now. If I have more ?? later be sure to know I'll be asking!

First of all, I'm glad to hear your hair is looking awesome. That is great.
I've eyed the Jasmin's shea butter as a leave-in for some future time. I may actually have to order some one day.
I like your idea of a using a cyclo...-cone-xand before swimming. I honestly have no idea if this is a good plan or not. Here is a link on evaporating cyclo...-cone-xanes. There is a chance your cuticle will buckle.

Chelating agents can help remove chlorine. You may want to look for products that contain them. There are threads if you do a search. I'm not familiar with any products. They may only be in shampoos.
Chelating ingredients listed on last 1/3 of this post

I can't find the link on this, but cliff notes version. Brushing does temporarily distribute oil on the hair, but cause small amounts of permanent damage to the hair cuticle every time you do it. The damage is more damage then the benefits of the oil distribution.
That being said, do what works for your hair. I promise I won't send the CG police to your house.
Check this thread for updo styles.
cute styles...

Just a note that the new Curl Junkie Curl Fix Cleansing Conditioner has chelating agents in it. You might want to try it if you use cones.
If you only co-wash would be very wary of using any form of cone (xane or cone or whatever) as it could buid up if your co-wash does not have the capability to get it out.
You might want to do a search on swimming as I know I've seen other threads..see what they do!

Peda great articles! I don't know why I haven't snooped in the article section of this website! LOL just one of those face-palm moments.
When I get home I'll compare some of my old -cone products to it! I also have some "Organic" shampoo and conditioner I picked up from the market a long while ago.
Alex, thanks for that tip. I haven't tried this theory yet but it maybe an experiment that'll come down the line. I'll deff. search posts about swimming and being CG.
Oh BTW Alex, your blog = life saving. Between you and miss kay I'm in hog heaven with product shopping.
When I do my next round of sampling I will make sure I add your suggestion.
Lastly an update, the ends of my hair are still hanging stong! My hair hasn't lost as curl as it has before and I've been running all over the place today. ^.^

I love the curl chemist articles. The trick is to do a search for curlchemist all one word.

Day 2 with my products
So yesterday was a swimming day! I read several forums about how to take care of your hair for the exposure to chlorine. I found out that the things I've been trying out are on the right track.
I wet my hair first of all. I have a mixture of olive oil and coconut oil that I slide through my hair and then I add a CG friendly conditioner (a simple suave naturals condish.) After I get out of the pool I ass more conditioner to my hair for the ride home. (I don't shower there their water period is highly chlorinated.)
When I got hom I rinsed my hair throughly and then used one of the sample soap bars. (A contraversal thing I know.) The soap really did well. I felt like my hair was clean from the film of chlorine.
I then still used my co-wash suave conditioner. Next I used Kenra Moisturizing Cond which is much thicker and heavier but I thought from the chlorine and the soap my hair would soak it right up. I left it in my hair while I did other shower business and rinsed it out thoroughly (esp. my scalp/root hair)
Afterwards I used my t-shirt pillow case to get out most of the water. scrunched a bit and added some AOMM and let it dry.
It seemed to curl much more. It didn't feel dry or too heavy, but my root waves didn't have as much waves as it did from the previous product test. No biggy because my root hair is not greasy looking. YAY.
Now the next morning my end felt dry so I added some of Jasmines Babassu Buttercream leave in condish after I spritzed my hair wet again. It did the trick and I added some more AOMM and yet another great hair day! My hair feels very good.
Back to these soap bars. I'm thinking I may use them every time I go swimming. Since Chlorine is a caustic and the soaps are alkaline it may actually be the PH balance my hair needs to keep it happy from a swim. The condishing may need to be thicker. Next time I'm going to try a light conditioner and see what happens.
I love experimenting! Sorry to be wordy. Perhaps I should start a blog lol
