Default Better Results With Dryer

Hey ladies! I haven't been around for a while because I've been traveling like crazy.

My question of the day is do you get better results with a hair dryer? One of the main reasons I decided to go CG was so that I could wash and go. However, I have found that my hair is SIGNIFICANTLY better when I blow dry it (using diffuser). Therefore, while my wavy hair does look more defined, I am still damaging it and not getting where I want.

Does anybody else have this problem? Are there any ways I could solve this? Maybe am I using the wrong products?

This is the same for me.

I almost always diffuse as this gives me much better curls. Air drying will work if I scrunch very well before.

Hard hat drying doesn't work for me at all for curl retaining but love it for DT and PT

My hair seems to be in excellent condition--so I guess the heat damage is being countered by my products and all that.

Also I don't have time to air dry since I do my hair in the morning for the day.

My daughter air dries all the time--we only diffuse for special occasions. Hers works fine but we put it in a braid overnight..and its usually wet for 24-48 hours.

Me myself I hate that wet hair feeling for long periods of time

No suggestions...sorry!

I diffuse but I do it on cold. (I have a dryer with three heat settings.)

Not much fun, and not as quick, but my hair seems to appreciate it.

Thanks for the responses. Maybe when it gets warmer with higher dew points in Chicago my hair will do better air drying.

I diffuse on low with low heat until almost dry. If I don't, I have much weaker curls.

I have the "ionic" blow dryer and have not noticed any damage from diffusing.

My hair looks better when I diffuse, too. Have not managed to diffuse from wet to dry yet, not sure how long it would take, but I either diffuse most of the way dry before bed, then loose plop, or plop wet overnight and diffuse most of the rest of the way in the morning.

It does work better for me than air drying. More volume (though not as much as a non-ionic dryer).

I've been doing a combo: diffuse for a few minutes on low or no heat, then airdry. I don't know if I have ever gotten my hair completely dry with a hair dryer, so I don't even try.

It might've gotten completely dry at the salon when they tried Deva products on me--they used a weird 4-headed diffuser thing that went around my head. But judging from the limp snakes I came out with, that doesn't work very well for waves.

And yeah, before I started encouraging waves, I clarified & let it airdry to determine my hair type...and those waves were extremely weak in comparison to the ones I've had lately.

I think your hair looks beautiful either way.

But yes, my hair looks way better when I diffuse it. Wearing it wavy and letting it air dry, it looks so flat! So, I've been diffusing it, even though I'd rather let it air dry. My hair just doesn't air dry very pretty.

My hair loves protein, plopping, and diffusing! Trying to find a way to style and air dry.

Pre-CG and when I knew where my diffuser was, I would get tighter curls/more waves with my diffuser, and always on the heat setting. Cold air drying seemed like such a waste of time for my hair. It would really take forever. Air drying takes pretty long, too.

The diffuser has been MIA, but I'm getting really nice curls with just scrunching with gel when it's pretty wet, plopping and air-drying. Whatever curl I get with scrunching will be the end result (minus the top, which does weigh down, so I pin it).
