what is plopping??

And what does it do for your hair? Also what if u have lazy curls-I have to diffuse to get them bouncy.

Plopping helps some, if your hair is short, it might not help as much.

How long have you been CG? My waves perked up quite a bit; after using amla, they really came to life.

thanks! Going to start CG this weekend. I have tried CG before BUT always give up, can't find the right combos. I know I need to do a low poo. Gels are my biggest problems, want one that holds but not too heavy, enchance the curls--probably need a couple products. I have a list of products I want to try, hopefully I will get a good combo
Keep in mind that you need the right protein/moisture balance.

You might need a good shot (or 12) of protein-I did the aphogee reconstructor 6 times in a month, and my hair was happier each time.

I still can't get enough protein.

Do you know what your porosity is? What are you using right now for products? (You are in Oz, correct?)

And what is Alma?
I really aphogee reconstructor.

The two minute treatment is a waste of time on my hair.

I skip the condish part of it and just use the protein pack, and then use my own CG condish.

Works like a champ. I'd recommend a hard hat or bonnet attachment though-I need to get one. Today is payday so maybe I'll order one.

Eklecktia- I just recommended the Aphogee 2 step to my friend. You have been just using the diffuser with this, correct?

A bonnet dryer attaches to your hair dryer and looks like a big shower cap with a hose coming out of it.
A hard hat dryer is like the one used in the salon that looks like an upside down bowl. Think 1950's.

FYI aphogee is a very strong PT. If you want to start with something milder, Sally's had Ion effective care PT (2$ for packet). This was perfect for me, but many people find this does absolutely nothing for their hair because it is not strong enough.
Other protein options include nexus emergencee and Aubrey organics GBV(GVP? I never remember).

Trial and error, I think.

I didn't know if aphogee would be good or bad, I just knew I was porous, highlighted and lowlighted, and had wimpy curls.

So I tried it.

It's just hair-it'll recover eventually.<---me after my latest hair experiment.

Damaged hair is porous hair. Some people (like me) have hair that is naturally porous, easily susceptible to damage. I also do things, like dye it , that cause damage.
Here is a link on porosity.

I agree, protein is trial and error. If you do a PT either do a DT or use a moisturizing conditioner afterward. If you get a PT that is too strong, your hair will feel strawlike. If this happens, the cure is moisture. Do deep treatments and use moisturizing conditioners.
You will just have to choose which way you want to go.
AO GBP is not strong (I believe) and has the conditioning part built right in.
Nexxus is stronger then ION (I believe) and not as strong as aphogee.

I'd suggest trying Biosilk Rock hard gel. It has a super hard hold, but has soft feel once you SOTC.
And what is Alma?
Alma is a mud like treatment sort of like henna treatments. It is often found in Indian grocery stores. Alma is used to enhance curls. Here is Ekleckta's thread on it. She had great results. Also look on hennaforhair.com for info.

Aphogee is from Sally's. We've been discussing the 2 step one. I don't need that much protein and haven't tried it. I hear that it is stinky and dries helmet hard. Your hair may be fragile after the first part of the treatment. This can make it tricky to rinse out. I don't think anyone has really had a problem with this. The second step contains mineral oil. Lots of people's hair hates mineral oil. I think most people toss this part and just do a DT or use a very moisturizing conditioner.

I think it smells fine-kind of good, actually. I expected uber-stank, but nope. Not here. Sort of fake floral, sort of salon-ish.
Your hair may be fragile after the first part of the treatment.
Maybe if it's really long, and you don't take your shirt off before you do it-it's very stiff, but not OMG-I-can't-move. I have short hair, and just rinse in my sink. It loosens up rapidly once under water, and I find it easier to rinse out than some conditioners. Just wear a button front shirt and be prepared to shower to rinse if you have long hair, I think.

The second step contains mineral oil. Lots of people's hair hates mineral oil. I think post people toss this part and just do a DT or use a very moisturizing conditioner.
Yup. I've just used Suave, a couple times, and left it on under a shower cap for 1/2 hour or so with good luck. Mineral oil is the 'debbo'. (The waterboy...remember? *collective groan from the audience)

I've even used this stuff as a leavein under AVG. Works decently, not fab, but not horrid.

Just my experience!

Thanks ladies for the replies I will try BRHG, probably the only 1 I have not tried. Right now I am using Aveda Flax Seed, it makes my hair stiff and something in it makes my scalp itch bad--plus I am pretty sure it's not CG. I was playing around w/ Herbal Ess. gels and had no luck w/ them. Biolage gelee (old formula)used to be my HG then they changed the formula What do u ladies use to plop with?

Not sure about the porosity (spelled right??) My hair looks dull if I apply too much product, my hair holds water like there is no tomorrow. When I get it cut, it just drips and drips. I guess normal maybe?
