Leave In Contitioners
I've never been a big fan of leave in conditioners because I have a continual problem. Actually it's sort of a vicious cycle I'm in.
My ends dry out so easily and so quickly. They can feel great at first and as a day goes on they dry out. Mean while my scalp/root hair feels great!
So I'm trying to use a leave in condish after I wash or when I wet my hair and try for second day hair. The problems is I get the wet look and for super fine and thin hair that means it looks stringy and greasy when it isn't. I'm experiment with a couple of leave ins but I'm having no luck. I never have had any luck. So far light or heavy it's not working.
Ideas? Maybe I'm putting too much in? I've got to find a way to keep these end moist and not look like a greasy head.

I'm going to take a stab at this, but take it with a grain of salt because I'm still really new at this. How wet is your hair when you apply your leave-in? I know I get fab results when I put in my leave-in in soaking wet hair (well, soaking wet after one squeeze). The other thing might be to dilute the more healthy hair, and apply the full strength to the ends.
Or maybe I should just keep my mouth shut when it comes to trouble shooting.

Hey hey!
I have tried a ton of different leave ins. They do tend to leave my hair producty.
My fave is CJ Curl Assurance, or CJ Beauticurls Leave ins. They are both light and don't make me look producty. ANd do the job of moisturizing well. A close second, that you can get on ground is the Lustrasilk Olive. It leaves my hair just a big producty sometimes, but once you get down the amount (just a TEENY amt) it is my second fave.

If it's only the ends that are drying out, why not try just putting leave-in on the ends?

That's why I use the leave-in sprays and not the creams. I use a cream for my styling product so that should probably be conditioning enough.
SusieQin, I agree with the others' suggestions. You should probably use more leave-in on your ends. And try putting it in when it's soaking wet, so that way it absorbs the product better. My own suggestion would also be to use more of your rinse-out on your ends, too. HTH!

Thanks. I'll give them a try. Those are actual leave in condish's and not gellies? I havent looked it up yet.
I've tried that. It just makes the ends look stringy so far. I've played around with the amounts I've put into my hair and I'm still having a problem.
This might sounds like a ridiculous question, but when is the best time to put in a leave in?
Right after your shower when I it sopping wet?
After I've sopped up the excess water?
Or since I shower at night and style/spritz my hair to life the next day... would that be a better time?
That's a valid question to me! A valid idea anyways. I've stayed away from Leave Ins so I don't really know much either. Maybe I'm applying them into my hair at the wrong time or the wrong way.

Thanks as well. I'll give that a try and not rinse out all of the condish and do it when its super wet. I'll give it a try tonight and use the lightest product I have.

Yes, all of the products I listed are specifically Leave - ins. I prefer products that are listed as leave-ins. For whatever reason, they seem to help with curl formation.
The sprays don't do much for me. It makes more sense that they would, but they don't. I found out totally by accident too. I kept plugging along with the sprays (convinced they were better for my easily weighed down hair), then I used a product that I thought was a styler, but it was a leave in. I only used the leave in and a gel -- and I had the best hair I'd had in a long time.
Don't know why it works, but there are only a very few products that I can't use a leave in under. CCCC Lite is one. Actually, I think everything else I use I use a creamy leave in under.
Oooh Thanks E!!!

My hair is coarse and doesn't get weighed down easily, but my daughter's is fine and both of us like the Fructis Triple Nutrition as leave in applied when hair is Way Soaking Wet. Completely sodden, dripping everywhere, lots and lots and lots of water. I do this in the shower. Then comb it thru and scrunch a little of the water out so I can step out, then continue with routine.
I actually use quite a lot of leave-in - probably as much as others are rinsing out. but I do have a lot of hair, and it is not very weigh-down-able. Or it looks better weighed down is maybe a better way to put it.
I've not had great results trying to put it in in the morning, but you could try just putting a spoonful of conditioner in your water spray bottle, if you've not tried that yet.

It worked!
Ok so last night I used one of the leave in conditioners was giving me the stringy results and did my normal routine but I rinse my conditioner very lightly leave my ends with some and then added a bit of leave in conditioner (About a nickels worth) to only the ends when it was sopping wet.
My hair looked great and felt great. This morning I just spritzed my hair wet again, put some DM curling gelly in it, scrunched and went.
I got a compliment that my hair looks fuller. Tonight I'm going to take some leave in condish and put it in my spritz bottle and try that out for second day hear.
Thanks Ladies! BTW I was Jasmines leave in and condish. I really like it, so does my hair and it smells so wonderful!

Fabulous. Glad you are having good luck with your hair.
If you do mix up some conditioner and water to spray on your hair, only mix small amounts. The curl chemist suggests either mixing 2 days worth to keep in the shower or a weeks worth to keep in the refrigerator. When you add water, you dilute the preservatives. Here is the link.

Oh cool! Thanks Peda!
Ok i have pictures!!
The first picture is my fist day of CG after being at work all day. You can see my curls drooping.
The next pics are after using Jasmine's products including the leave in condish. These pics are also after being out all day long.
A girl at work said it looked much fuller too which makes me happy since I have extremely thin hair. UGH! However the comment made me glow with happiness! OH! And first thing when I walked in from work my BF opens the door and immediately comments on how good my hair looked today. He got a cookie for that one! LOL

You know, no matter how many time I see it, I'm always amazed at the difference CG can make with people's hair. Your hair definitely has more curls that are better defined. I'm glad it is working for you.

I'm having so much fun experimenting! LOL. Anyways, I read that article last night so this morning instead of doing the spray bottle idea I decided to just take a smaller amount in my hand make sure my hair was wet and diluted the condish with water in my hands. (Hope that made sense.) Anyhow, my ends did not look greasy doing it that way. My ends also held up all day feeling very soft and moist.
The only thing my hair didn't like was I tried to add a bit of curling gelly to the top of my hair and tried to scrunch it and added some hair clips letting it dry. Well it made it look a bit stringy and again no root waves or curl. I think I am just destined not to have any up there lol. I'm just trying to make it look fuller!
Today was a swim day for me. So I threw in some of my Olive Oil & Coconut Oil mixture into my hair along with some co-wash condish. When i got home I did the same routine as I did before with using the same products and the same amounts and my hair feels pretty good.
We'll see how it feels in the morning and holds out through the day.

The only way I get root curl is by rinsing upside down.
