New, need help to get going

Hi everyone! I've been reading this forum for a while and finally decided I can't figure out my hair on my own, so here I am. This is long, but I need help...
I've gone CG, officially for a week..but have been without sulfates for about a year..didn't know about silicones, so I have been living on them (biosilk serum and pantene conditioner, I know).
My hair is usually about waist lenght, layered. Always, always is terrible tangles begining immediately after combing, and it mats and begins to spindle into what would like to be dredlocks after one day without conditioning and combing.
It's impartial to protein treatments vs oil or humectants..it doesn't really care. I've never colored or highlighted it in my life. Hardly ever use heat on it. (If it is styled, it holds whatever I give it for days, but takes 2 1/2 hours to blow out, but thats bad so I never really do)
It takes about 4-5 hours to air dry, and literally will not ever dry if I just put it in a bun, braid, or plop. It will stay wet for days until I let it out.
I frizz. Alot. I have almost no spilt ends, and it is healthy, but it does love heavy thick conditioner (missing Pantene).
Since going CG I'm more tangled and matted more quickly. I've done experiments with coconut oil, protein, etc...doesn't really matter what I do.
I don't know what type of 2 I am, or how porous it is? Some hairs feel like they are coarse but my hair is not in general, and doesn't look or feel coarse; it's not fine. It is thick, I have alot of it.
I don't know what to do to make it less tangled and more happy. The top is flat even with clipping, and CG, and every spot is different (some straight, some wavy, some curly, some frizzy). Help, please!

I can't get my pics to fit on here so here a some

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!
Are you using any rinse out conditioner, or just a co-wash? Sounds like you may need a good deep treatment, or to change the rinse out you are using. What products are you currently using?

My hair gets weighed down easily so I use lighter DT's, and when I co-washed I just kept it in as my rinse out too. So, I may not have the best knowledge in heavy conditioners, but there are many other wavies that can help you out in that department.

Welcome to the forum Dani. Just looked at your pics. You are really beautiful. I'm not a great at hair typing. I can tell you your hair is thick. I bet you already knew that. Anyway, I have a few questions.
In the year before going CG did you cowash exclusively or occasionally use a non sulfate shampoo (low poo)?
Did you do a sulfate shampoo before going officially CG last week?
.
I"m sure there are more moisturizing conditioners out there, but Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition (GFTN) and Sally Beauty supply's Generic Value Product Conditioning Balm (GVP CB) are pretty moisturizing. At health food stores there is Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle and Rose (AOHR) which is known to be quite moisturizing.

You may want to try Kinky Curly knot today for a conditioner and leave in. It is the one I always go back to. The other one that always works for me is Botticelli Botanicals Smoothie. She is on Etsy.com. HTH!
very fine 2a/3a, normal porosity & elasticity, finally going full CG!
currently using: nbd F&S Therapy,Curl Magic, Chamomile Seaweed gel, Curl Magic cleansing conditioner, and Restoration Hair Repair.
qimissung..I was thinking of ordering that, it seems to go over well for lots of people...I definately will now, thank you.
pedaheh..Thank you..and I've been low pooing for the past year, and yes I did one sulfate wash out before I went CG to get rid of the cones. I was thinking of the GVP CB because so many people say it is very intense, which is what I need...I guess I'm going to Sallys tomorrow, haha..
dark_waves...Right now I haven't made a huge investment or commitment to products cuz I'm unsure and just starting, but right now I'm cowashing with MOP, and rinsing with Giovanni 50:50 because they are the only two I have that fit the bill. I have no leave in, but have been putting coconut oil in after I comb out, because gel was making my hair so tangled and yucky (maybe the type)..my hair is doing better with the coconut oil...I just posted new pics with it on my fotki. I don't think my hair CAN get weighed down!
Thank you for all of your feedback guys I appreciate the tips!
Just wanted to make sure you didn't have a years worth of build up. Check. If you do go Sally's the Ecostyler Krystal is on sale for 3$ a tub. I think it is worth a test drive.
You can use a bit of your conditioner as a leave in. Sally's also has the CG GVP paul mitchel the detangler, but I don't know much about it other then it exists.

My hair tends to get more tangled when I start to get protein overload. The Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition would be good.

A little leave-in also helps for me. Maybe using a lighter conditioner to co-wash then using a pea-sized amount of that same conditioner as a leave-in would help. Most people start with Suave naturals conditioners because they're very light. They worked for me initially but I can't use them everyday because my skin is sensitive to something in them.
I agree with what everyone has said.

Although it's hard to tell I agree your hair doesn't look coarse. It's likely medium if it isn't fine..that means you should ease up on protein.

We use several condish for my daughter including the Mop C Mixed Greens, TIGI Moisture Maniac, Garnier Fructis TN and Sleek and Shine (new formula), and Yes to Cucumbers and Yes to Tomatoes.

However we have the best luck with her hair when we use the Curl Junkie Hibiscus and Banana Deep Fix and Honey Butta Leave in as well as the Lustrasilk Organic with Argan Oil. I have reviews on my blog (link below) but if you are going to Sally's pick up these Lustrasilk if you can find them in addition to GVP Conditioning Balm:

Olive Oil Cholesterol
Shea Cholesterol with Mango
Organic with Argan Oil

The last two has really good slip and have done a great job of conditioning my daughter's hair which is as you describe yours with tangles. Dreads used to form daily and it would take me hours to comb her hair. Not so now!

You can also try Aura Cherry Almond Bark.

I would tell you get off any protein and try for a week..if you see improvement then introduce a little back in and see how it goes..you just may be one that can handle them in small doses. Some can handle only in low poo, or rinse out, or styler.it's individual.

Good Luck! And I agree GORGEOUS both you and your hair!!

+1

I thought her hair sounded similar to your daughters, and knew you would have some good suggestions.

yay because I'm so happy that I'm getting so much help..it seems like there are SO MANY products and I'm glad you guys are helping me narrow things down, thank you so so much!

dark_waves..thank you!

alexjoujou..yeah, my hair didn't really care about putting protein on it, but favors oil a bit..so I will go without it and see how it works..I will definately go to Sallys today and grab all of your suggestions (hoping they have them!)..I'm going to hold off ordering a bunch of stuff online unless I have to so I'll start with those. THANK YOU, it really sounds like you know what I'm dealing with here, haha.

elita..I'm thinking that you might be right, maybe its too much protein making it so tangled..I'm going to get the GFTN today, thanks!

pedhah..well for $3 ill pick some of that up for sure, and ill check out that detangler if the new conditioners don't cut it..or maybe just get it today if things dont add up too much!

Thanks again for all of your help guys..ok, off to Sallys!
If you haven't left yet-
I forgot about the lustrasilk (my sally's doesn't have it). I would try that before the GVP Paul Mitchel stuff. People love it.
Ecostyler does have wheat protein in it.
If you decide to try more expensive stuff some day, Kathy Mack from the forums sells samples.
