Please recommend a gel to this newbie!

Hi there, I'm new here but looks like I know some of you from the LHC I'm wondering if you can recommend a gel for this wavy girl (2b/c). My curl really tends to loosen up as the day goes on, so I'm thinking gel might be a good thing to try. The thing is, I really like to use products that are as natural as possible and I am very sensitive to fragrances. I see that HETT and BRHG are really popular - but I haven't been able to find the ingredients lists online. Are either of those heavily fragranced? I'm going to try to find them at a local store so I can smell them and read the labels. Or is there a more natural alternative? My husband has the Giovanni Gel...anyone have sucess with that? And what is this I have read about Aloe Vera gel or Flax Seed gel? Do either of those provide good hold? Thanks for your help!
Welcome. I don't think I saw you on the long hair forum. (short hair joke). Anyway, I answered this while doing other things, so it is a bit disjointed. But, you'll get the idea.
BRHG scores a 7 out of 10 on the skin deep website scale of badness. Definitely not natural.
The Etsy store Spiral Solutions has a hard hold gel that I've seen compared to BRHG in hold. It is a new store and she can't keep up with demand at this point. Click on the right hand side where is says "number" sales for a description and ingredients. If you decide you want it, check back every day because she sells out almost as soon as she restocks.

I always check CVS or drugstore.com for ingredients. Drugstore.com ingredients are not always current and accurate.
Aloe vera gel has a very soft hold adds moisture for most people. It actually dries my hair out. Most people use Fruit of the earth aloe. You can find it at walmart.
Flax seed gel also has a light to medium hold. Here is a thread. It is easy to make and you can freeze the excess. Here is a video on how to make it.

here are some other gels off the top of my head. I can't really speak to the scent or naturalness. Chi gel has a hard hold. HE set me up gel has a harder hold then HETT. LAL SG has a hard hold, Got 2B spiked up, beyond the zone from sally's.

HETT gel ingredients from CVS.com

Biosilk rock hard gelle ingredients from drugstore.com

Thanks for checking the BRHG on the EWG database - I had done that for some other products I was thinking of ordering but hadn't thought to check there for the gels (my kids have been sick and I'm running on very little sleep!). A friend had mentioned the Spiral Solutions stuff to me and I was placing a order for some samples from kathymack so I just added some of that on. I think I'll pick up some flax seed next time I'm at the store too. I appreciate your help!

I actually knew the BRHG score off hand. My sister uses the skin deep site and I looked it up for her a few months ago. I was shocked that it was a 7, but nexus emergencee was a 3(about). I would have thought the other way around. BTW you have beautiful hair.

Yeah, sometimes the scores in the database are surprising! Some of the Giovanni stuff scored much higher than I thought it would, and some of the drugstore stuff is lower than expected. It's a great resource!
